Chapter 2 - The Battle At the Frontlines -2

The battlefield was chaotic and unpredictable at times. I could see not to far away a Konoha chunin uses his long sword to cut another ninja's head clean off. The blood from the rock shinobi's body sprayed like a water hose as it splattered in all directions.

Some other Konoha Genin who looked around our age. Being no more than 7 or 8 was being cornered by two Iwa chunin who couldn't have been much older than him, give or take 4 years. The scared boy tried to take desperate steps back as I could see the kunai, he was holding shake like a dog coming out from a bath.

Something clicked in the boy's mind as he dropped the kunai and tried to turn and run away back to the base. Looking like a clear sign of desertion. Honestly, I couldn't blame him, he should have never been here in the first place. Still, it was pointless as I could tell by the sinister grin that the older boys were just toying with him. As they made no moves to stop him. As I'm wondering what these boys are about to do, I see it.

"Earth Release: Earth Flow Spears!" One of the boys shouted

The dirt underneath condensed into mud as the ground turned into the shape of spikes that pierced the soft flesh of the child's body. The screams that came from the boy was horrifying and even over the constant sounds of explosions, jutsu, and the sparks from deadly dances. I could still clearly hear the sound of the boy's screams.

As if they took sadistic pleasure from the violence they were inflicting, the two began to torture the boy instead of giving him a quick death. I thought it was just because they liked overwhelming someone much weaker than them, but then I heard the venom coming from their words.

"This is for my sister you dirty fucking tree hugger!"

"Take this!"

"And this!"

It was so confusing as I kept asking myself what about this boy has to do with your sister. He's nothing more than a child from another country.

"That's enough Fudō! You've already made a mess out of this one. I'm sure we can find more Yamanaka's since they were stationed here. Maybe if we manage to capture one of their Jonin we can get him to talk on how to reverse the damage.

"Your right Shamo. I'll make those bastards pay. Ima get back everything those tree fucker stole from me. Then they'll know what it feels like to have their world shatter and their mind broken."

With the two Iwa Chunin that just murdered the boy run off to go find another Yamanaka on the battlefield.

So that's what drives them. Hatred. A hatred that has him vent out his anger on a person that has nothing to do with them. I'm sure if I overheard more of the shinobi fighting not just in Konoha but all over the shinobi world I'd here a similar reason being why they fight. This truly is a shitty world to be reborn in. I'm sure Hashirama is turning over in his grave just hearing the plight facing the children of this generation. While Madara is off to the side patting him on his shoulder while saying "see Hashirama, I told you so. We should have just conquered this world and be done with it."

Having lived in this era of the world and seeing what happens on the frontlines with my own two eyes, I can't help but think "Madara did nothing wrong."

In front of me my eyes move instinctually as another battle begins to take place as another Iwa shinobi catches the kunai one of the Genin threw at him in midair. He then moved right in front of this no named Genin and slice his head clean off.

And as if he was Uchiha Madara he pulled out an explosive tag and placed it on the chest of the same Genin and kicked him over to who I assumed was his squad mates. The girl member of their group is in shock still as her body is as still as a tree with no leaves. While the other boy tries to assure his friend he'll be alright, as he scrambles to rip the explosive off his chest. But I knew it was too late for all of them as I heard the sizzling of the tag, ticking down to their death.

It was like I was back in New York Times Square watching the ball drop. As the paper tag was counting down the end to all their lives.

I'll never forget the large deafening sound it made, the explosive tag smashed them into bits. Their bodies were unrecognizable, as their figures were ripped apart, leaving nothing more than bits of flesh and blood. The worst part is I couldn't begin to tell you which body part belonged to who. As what makes a direct explosive tag even more deadly is that each shinobi carries a few on them at all times. Meaning the enemies tag additionally set off any tag they had on them. Leaving a giant crater no more than 10-meter-wide.

These Kids. These Fucking Kids. They had their own hopes and dreams, I'm sure. They had family, friends, people that would surely miss them. But that all ends here, and for what? Why did they have to die? Why were they put in a position where death was the only outcome? Why?

"You Bastard! I'll make you pay for this!"

*Clang*

The sound of kunai clashing graced my ears as another battle was taking place. With it being none other than my teammate Aoba Yamashiro exchanging kunai with the much bigger enemy Iwagakure chunin.

Yo Machi! Judai! Help me out over here!

He's right. Why am I still not moving. And it felt as if a boulder was placed on my shoulders as I realized I've been watching too much. But still after knowing this and acknowledging it I still remained stuck their unable to move.

" My body, why won't it move!" Then I look down and notice it, I'm shaking, my knees are shaking. Shaking like I just opened the door to check and see if I need a coat if I go outside. Shaking like Ino in the bushes at the chunin exam. Because I'm afraid to die. I wasn't trained at the academy like Naruto or Sasuke, heck I'd be fine knowing the basic information Sakura had, as at least she had six years of shinobi training. Me? I had one. With us entering the academy at six and then the war started. An the requirements for graduation were greatly reduced, allowing me to leave the academy by seven. Even though they knew we weren't ready, so why were we brought out here? Oh, to replenish the troops stationed on the frontlines, all to buy time for the actual talented shinobi to finish key missions. With other classes that held prominent children from distinguished families being allowed to stay back for more training in this crucial point of development.

. Its all that damn show off Kakashi's fault as he made the higher ups believe that his level of success could be duplicated.

Judai what the fuck are you doing? Get a hold of yourself son! Your comrades need you!

"Huh?" Looking up I see my sensei engaging the enemy in a deadly close up taijutsu match.

"Wait when did Sensei get here?"

While Sensei is keeping the chunin's main attention Aoba supports him by trying to disturb the enemy Chunin's chakra points by pouring chakra into the target. Meanwhile Machi gets into the action by trying to use her wire string to activate her secret technique string needle. This attack allows her to link with the enemy's chakra to paralyze them in place, with the action taking less tact as it can be activated even without hitting exact points on the body. It's similar to Senbon needles but doesn't need acupuncture spots to be effective.

Sensei was able to land a good punch that sent the rock fucker dazed for a few seconds. And what do you know that's all Machi needed to actually manage to lock on the target, giving Aoba a greater level of control to lock onto the enemy and put him under genjutsu.

Judai do it now!

Fucking finish this bastard off shithead!

Judai hurry I can't hold on for too much longer!

My eyes widen as I remember how good my team was for a bunch of minor characters that won't get any screentime in the plot. Still even if this team is shitty, its my shitty team, as I smile determined not to let them down anymore.

I move my feet running at my top speed while doing the necessary hand signs. "Snake" "Dragon" "Rabbit" "Tiger". I repeat saying out loud

"Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!" I scream

I spit flames from my mouth that, like a dragon's, quickly travel forward in a straight direction. Upon contact with the Iwa Chunin, his body is engulfed in flames with him unaware of how he even died. Whereas the Great Fireball Technique will burn everything in the vicinity, the Dragon Fire Technique is more narrowly focused at its initial target, with it being harder to hit, so it needs direct support to be affective.
