The next few days, he rush to get to work early. She always try to catch his timing so that she can make him breakfast. In the end, she always make him a simple breakfast pack in lunchbox. However this simple breakfast for him, touch his heart. Sometimes she cook congee with chicken shads and some vegetables on the side. Sometimes, she makes an American breakfast bacon, toast bread, vegetables and eggs. There is yogurt as well. The water container is either hot coffee or hot herbal drink. Sometimes there is milk package inside as well. Other times, there are Japanese triangle shape rice with tuna filings. Every morning he eat them in the office pantry. It fills not his stomach but fills up his heart as well. He always starts his day with a good mood. His office workers notice the change in him. They are delighted that they need not deal with his grouchy mood in the morning. By the end of the day, he always rush home happily. Humming a nice tone in the car as he drives home.
When he reach home, Li Tong always greet him happily. Soon he learn to greet her back even though he can't smile physically, his heart smile at the sight of her. Dinner is always a different dishes everyday. Although it's nothing fancy, it's something that Shou Ren never have all his life till now. A person to sit with him for dinner. A person who will eat with him. A person who talks to him while they are having a meal together. A person who will listen to him at the dinner table. A dream that he never thinks will come true. He appreciate Li Tong more everyday. She fills up his life in an unexpected way.
For her, she always been taking care of other people. She never tell anyone she is an abandon girl. Her own blood family did not want her a she grows up. She was given away and adopted repeatedly. However each time, she is still given up even with her kind nature. No one wants to keep her for long. Soon she learn to take care of herself as well as other young children. She took up some side jobs to get more cash so that she can be independent instead of the monthly cash allowance from the organisation. Every year she wins the scholarship so that she can still get her education. She picks up playing the piano and violin. She learn that working hard is her only way to learn how to get through in life. Li Tong never fear hard work, she fear people will leave her eventually. However for now, she is happy. Happy that Tian Shou Ren shows her care and concern.
One morning, Shou Ren is again late for work, he rush to the dining table to pick up his breakfast but stop and pause at what he see. Li Tong is dressing in a spaghetti strap dress. It have a heart shape open front and she is wearing stocking as well. "Why are you dress like that?"
"Didn't i tell you that my department is organising a concert in the hall. Everyone have to dress up." She is busy walking around to get breakfast fix while his eye is busy looking at the slim waist and the breast that is push together. Her black short bobs hair is comb neatly with a hint of glitter in it. Her makeup is natural and not excess at all. She sits down to eat and Shou Ren like in a trance, follow her to sit and chew on the toast. Li Tong did not notice the strange action of his's. She is busy eating and checking her makeup on the mirror. Her long arms rest on the table holding the mirror up. Shou Ren just stare at finally snap back to reality.
"So what time are you needed to be there? I can drive you there, you know."
"Oh no Mr. Tian, i can take the subway. No problem at all. Besides that you will be late for work."
"Hmm, it's ok. I can drive you. The subway will be pack with people. Your dress and hair will be mess up."
"oh. ok. Then i can call a cab..."
"You will be spending unnecessary money. Come i drive you there. Your University is not too far from where my office is."
She smile and nod her head. At the same time she notice she already prepare his breakfast to pack away. He notice it too. "I can eat it later. I will have a long meeting around 12:30 so i can munch at that time. "
"Oh in that case, let me put in more stuff. Would you like a cheese with toast?"
"Anything you pack is good. By the way, you are not just wearing this dress and walk out like this, right?"
"I dont have a coat so..."
"i can lean you a coat. It's new, i haven't wear it much."
He rush to his wardrobe and pick up the beige trench coat. She should able to fit in. Shou Ren rush back and show it to her. She try it on, it's right on the length but the shoulders are too big. "Dont button up. Leave it. Besides that it's a trench coat, you will perspire with the weather." She smile.
30 minutes later they are in the elevator. On the way down, there are neighbours entering. Some men are looking at her especially at her chest. LI Tong did not notice as she is fixing her hair. Shou Ren who sees this stands in to block their view. When they are at the basement, the neighbours men try to take a peek at her again. Shou Ren give them a death stare and they hurry off. He drives off in his happy mood while she chat about what she is supposed to play in the concert. When dropping her off, he see that her classmates are waiting for her. A group of happy girls gathering warm his heart. His heart beats in a strange way when Li Tong Tong turn around and wave at him. He wave like a robot and watch her walk off. Inside his heart, he wishes to drop everything at work to attend her concert. Before he drives off, he make a selection on his player for classical music. He decides to settle for The Four seasons: Spring by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi.
Shou Ren ends his day in a happy note. His clients maybe difficult to handle but he is not losing his temper over it. He calmly handle them and resolve the problem. His co-workers are amaze at his attitude. They feel like something wonderful must have happen to him. "I think he must be eating something strange. Like that cute lunch box he brings to work everyday. It makes him have a change of personality."
"Well as long as our boss is not in that cranky mood, who cares what he eats!"
In the evening, he return home in the dark. He search for Li Tong in her little house. There is no one he takes out his mobile phone and search for her number. At that moment the lights in the apartment is switch on. He see Li Tong have return. She put down her violin case and see him outside, she wave and smile. Shou Ren sigh on a relive tone. He walk back slowly and slumped on the couch. LI Tong sense he is upset about something, she takes out her violin. She switch off the lights in the apartment and play her violin. He feels that suddenly he is swam by the notes drifting in the air. Suddenly he feels light and ensure of everything is right in place.
