There was a girl in high school who couldn't talk. She could only talk in sign language. People bullied her for it. Girls gossiped behind her back and told her she'd never get anyone, and boys mocked her by making up hand gestures and making faces. One day, a boy transferred to the same high school. He was athletic, handsome, and smart, pretty much every typical girl's dream boy. As a result, he instantly became a hit. All the girls wanted to talk to him, and all the boys treated him like a good friend. The girl who couldn't talk avoided him, thinking that he was going to treat her the harshest. However, one day, when she was being bullied again, this time by the girls, he stepped in between them. The girls asked why he was protecting that voiceless girl, but the boy ignored them, instead holding up a hand gesture. "Are you alright?" is what the gesture meant. The voiceless girl's eyes widened. She understood everyone, but no one spoke her language, except for him. That was enough for her. She couldn't afford to let such a person be bullied for her sake, so without responding to him, she stood and walked off.
