Chapter 74 - Project Alpha Nanosuit

Back in his basement workshop, Zack sat at his workbench, sketching furiously on a digital drafting pad. Lines and annotations filled the screen as his vision for the suit unfolded. The foundation of his design was a cutting-edge nanofiber weave, an ultra-lightweight material capable of mimicking and amplifying human muscle movements. With every adjustment, his blueprint evolved into something extraordinary.

By morning, Zack stood in the workshop, gazing at the result of his all-night effort: a sleek, jet-black suit hanging on the assembly rack. It was more than armor—it was a fusion of biology, technology, and ingenuity. He called it Project Alpha Nanosuit.

The suit itself was a marvel of engineering:

Nanofiber Muscle Enhancement: The suit's base material consisted of carbon nanotubes woven into synthetic fibers, mimicking and amplifying natural muscle movements. Every step, jump, or punch was enhanced by the suit's ability to redirect and amplify force with minimal effort, increasing Zack's strength and agility without bulky motors or servos.

Dynamic Biomechanical Stimulation: Tiny electroactive polymers embedded in the suit stimulated Zack's muscles and nerves during movement, mimicking the effects of resistance training. This feature ensured his body didn't become dependent on the suit but instead continued to grow stronger over time.

Reactive Flexibility: Unlike traditional armor, which often traded protection for mobility, the nanofiber weave provided both. The material was designed to harden on impact, dispersing kinetic energy while remaining pliable in normal conditions.

Integrated HUD Helmet: The suit's helmet was an extension of his Power armor's HUD system but optimized for this design. It featured: Thermal Imaging for tracking heat signatures in low visibility. Night Vision for nocturnal missions. Radar and Sonar Scanning to detect movement and map surroundings in real time. A vital signs monitor to provide constant feedback on Zack's physical condition.

Reflex Boosters: Zack incorporated piezoelectric actuators into the legs, allowing him to convert kinetic energy into bursts of power. These boosters enabled incredible leaps and quick direction changes, vital for close-quarters combat.

The nanosuit also had a surface coated with optical camouflage technology. Activating this feature caused a honeycomb-like pattern on the suit's surface to refract light, effectively rendering the wearer invisible. At the core of its design was an artificial spine on the back, housing a hydrogen battery to power the suit's nanofibers. If his MV armor was a flying, multifunctional juggernaut, then this nanosuit was a ground-combat specialist. Lightweight at just 30 kilograms and far more affordable to produce than the armor, it was a game-changer.

Zack couldn't help but grin as he examined his creation. "Alright, let's try this on." When inactive, the bionic muscle fibers were relaxed and loose, making the suit easy to slip into. After putting it on, Zack gave the command: "Activate."

The fibers immediately tightened, wrapping around Zack's body snugly. At first, the sensation was a little uncomfortable, but it quickly shifted. Zack moved his arm and froze in amazement. His every movement felt smooth, natural—almost like the suit had become a second skin. Despite its weight, he didn't feel burdened at all. He waved a hand through the air and felt the breeze ripple across his covered skin. "Incredible… It's like I'm not even wearing armor."

Eager to test its capabilities, Zack took a step forward—and immediately collided with his workbench. CRACK. The pool table-turned-workbench that had been with him for years finally gave up under Zack's newfound strength.

"Holy crap!" Zack exclaimed, staring at the broken table in disbelief. The nanosuit's amplifying effects had completely caught him off guard.

"Sir," Ego, his AI assistant, chimed in, "I suggest you familiarize yourself with the nanosuit's enhancements before conducting any field tests."

Zack smirked. "How'd you know I was planning a live test?"

Ego's tone carried a hint of exasperation. "Because you always do."

"Touché." Zack laughed, brushing aside the warning. "You really know me, don't you?" As he adjusted to the suit's capabilities, Zack began moving around the basement. Each step felt faster and more powerful, but not without consequence—he ended up smashing into a few more pieces of equipment. After a while, though, he got the hang of it. Grabbing the saw chain sword from the war machine setup, Zack looked toward the exit.

"Let's go see the Air Fortress."

"Sir, the Air Fortress was completed two days ago," Ego reminded him. "The Sky Air Defense System is also nearing completion."

"Perfect timing." Zack grinned and sprinted out of the basement.

With the nanosuit enhancing his speed, Zack moved so fast he became a blur. Every step left behind deep impressions in the ground. Within seconds, he reached the tarmac where the Air Fortress was parked.

The aircraft's iron-black exterior gleamed under the sunlight. A turbine engine on each side enabled vertical takeoff, landing, and hovering. Two jet engines mounted at the back provided propulsion. The aircraft's design allowed it to hit a top speed of Mach 1.5—faster than his war machines, thanks to superior aerodynamics. Additionally, the Air Fortress's wings could fold in half, making it compact for docking. It's named Avalon.

The interior was spacious, easily accommodating troops or cargo. As a first-generation model, its weaponry was basic, featuring a 30mm cannon beneath the fuselage. However, its design included provisions for adding missile racks to the wings and a bomb bay for additional firepower. In emergencies, the Air Fortress could double as a bomber.

Zack turned to Ego. "Load ten mechanical Ants onboard. We're taking them with us."

Moments later, the rear cargo door opened, and the mechanical Ants filed in, each one resembling an overengineered robotic nightmare. Despite their size, the interior still had plenty of room left.

Zack climbed into the pilot's seat, placing his chain sword beside him. Unlike the Power armor, which made piloting feel awkward, the nanosuit's streamlined design allowed Zack to sit comfortably. "Alright, Ego, upload the flight manual."

"Uploaded," Ego replied as the Air Fortress's controls lit up on Zack's HUD.

Zack grinned. "Who even reads manuals these days?" Despite his words, he quickly skimmed the instructions and pushed the power lever halfway. The engines roared to life, and the Air Fortress began to rise vertically. Zack kept the ascent steady until the aircraft cleared the tallest nearby building. Switching to the jet engines, he pushed the lever to full throttle.

BOOM!

The Avalon rocketed into the sky, breaking the sound barrier in mere seconds. The sonic boom shattered countless windows around the Mansion. Inside the house, Sophia was baking bread when the sudden explosion made her jump. She ran to the window just in time to see the Air Fortress disappear into the distance. "Why does he always have to go supersonic right over the house?" Sophia grumbled, clutching her chest as she tried to calm down. "That scared the life out of me…"

"Holy crap, is it really speeding up this much?" Zack turned his head to glance at the Mansion growing smaller and smaller in the distance, his voice tinged with disbelief.
