Magellan just arrived at the level 5 through elevator and move towards the level 6 gate, he didn't bring any guards because he knew that guards are useless in front of these monsters he also instructed the guards to ask Shiryu to come and assist him, just he wished that Shiryu will not hold grudge and help him here, because he'll only able to hold these the monsters for a while but because of his poison-poison fruit, he's confident that he can at least injure or poison them, later when admiral will face them he'll have relatively easy time.

Bullet was slightly impressed by prowess of his potential future boss, also aware that he'll likely be poisoned if he were to fight Magellan by his own. So, he decided to let Carlos handle it.
Bullet: Alright kid, he's all yours, you better take care of your ass.
Carlos just decided to act instead of replying, he quickly used shave and appeared behind Magellan and cocked back his arm to deliver a punch full of destruction energy.
Magellan sensed it through his observation haki and dodged it, destruction energy still destroyed everything in its path as it's function is to disintegrate, then Magellan still vary as ever knew he have to be careful of this weird energy as it's more potent then his poison, he decided to take things seriously and create poison domain, surrounding unconscious prisoners started having breathing issues and their lives started fading away, Magellan did not cared about them, it's not like he have hobby for murdering prisoners like Shiryu but he don't have any luxury to care about their lives in current situation, Carlos in return made sure to create a layer of destruction energy on his body to prevent from poison, Bullet and Redfield distanced themselves from it in understanding that the poison is annoying. Meanwhile Carlos just covered his arm in armament haki and used his power of suction to close the gap between him and Magellan, although predicted the attack through his observation haki Magellan was helpless this time and cannot evade the attack hence when Carlos punched his head, Magellan was sent flying through the snowy landscape soon crashed up in one of the cells.
Carlos: Come on Magellan, you need to be more serious than this, otherwise if Jail warden will die today.

Now with increased power he closed the gap between him and Magellan, Magellan whose surrounding is already started eroding due to his poison already. Magellan had used his strongest attack but still it was not enough in front of Carlos's destruction energy and soon his strongest poison in which he took pride in, was slow losing at this moment Magellan was completely hysterical and gave his all in order to win but still lost as Carlos started using emission haki along with destruction energy, attack was slowly moved towards Magellan's left arm soon his arm was completely disintegrated, he bleed profusely and lost consciousness due to heavy blood loss. At the end Magellan just had few words
Magellan: 'Why…Why, Marine have to betray him? Can't they stop him without capturing? ,Now we have a new monster as enemy, someone please stop this freak, otherwise we'll face a catastrophe'
Magellan was thoroughly traumatized by Carlos this time, in whole battle Carlos had shown strength higher than he expected, Magellan is although not on admiral level, his strength is impossibly close to admiral level, he is stronger than any admiral candidate, in front of Carlos he was helpless.
