Chapter 24 - Larvavine

Ash's memory quickly supplied information she had once read in a Spirit Beast Compendium.

...

[ Larvavine ]

[ Description: A Green Caterpillar Spirit Beast. Due to its preference for cruciferous vegetables, it is often found in forests near cities and town areas. A common Spirit Beast that you can find almost everywhere. Because of its nature, most vegetable farmers hate this Spirit Beast. ]

[ The two Z-shaped antennae on its head are this Spirit Beast's vital sensory organs, its mainly used for navigation and locating food. ]

[ It has a gentle temperament and generally does not take the initiative to attack humans. ]

...

Did not take the initiative to attack humans?

That's a relief…

Recalling these details, Ash finally let out a long breath.

The reason she had been frozen in place earlier was her fear of accidentally provoking this Spirit Beast, leading to a completely unnecessary disaster.

Now that she knew Larvavine wouldn't actively attack her, she could finally relax.

With a slight flex of her stiff arm, she slowly withdrew her hand from the cabbage.

"That really gave me a scare," Ash muttered, exhaling deeply. "I never noticed there were wild Spirit Beasts in this area before…"

Ash stood up slowly, stretching her legs, which had grown numb from squatting for so long.

She then crouched back down, her curiosity now piqued.

She carefully studied the little Spirit Beast, which remained hidden in the shadows, staring at her with an almost wary gaze.

This was the first time Ash had encountered a Larvavine in real life.

Although the Spirit Beast Compendium classified it as a common Spirit Beast, even borderline overabundant, Ash had not been so fortunate to meet it before.

Since her arrival in this world, the only wild Spirit Beast she'd ever encountered was a fleeting glimpse of a resting Nestick on the tree during her first week here.

That made this unexpected meeting all the more exciting, despite the cold sweat she'd just broken into.

After her initial fright subsided, Ash eagerly recalled every bit of information she could about Larvavine from the Spirit Beast Compendium and began carefully comparing it to the little creature in front of her.

Larvavine is a Green Caterpillar Spirit Beast.

Its typical attributes are Lignum-type and Terra-type, which can usually be discerned by the colors of the stripes on its body.

Ash focused on observing this particular Larvavine hiding under the bushes.

She noticed that it had three distinct stripes.

Two of the thinner stripes along its sides were a pale yellow, while the widest stripe running along its back was green with a hint of purple.

"Does that mean it has Terra-type and Venenum-type attributes?" Ash wondered, unsure.

In order to confirm her guess, she grabbed a book she had borrowed from the library earlier that day, <>, and began flipping through it.

In Gaia, Spirit Beast's attributes were unlike anything Ash had seen in her countless hours playing monster taming games.

In this place, there are 5 known primary attributes: Metallum (Metal), Lignum (Wood), Aqua (Water), Ignis (Fire), and Terra (Earth).
