"A Wonder of the World?"
Sabo's eyes narrowed in thought. "Wonders of the world" referred to things so perplexing that even gods couldn't fully understand them. These phenomena, though intriguing, didn't have a major impact on the world, which is why they were considered awe-inspiring objects of observation.
The reason Bai Yi had called Sabo here was because of his strange inheritance. This world, however, was the real world, and players were the wonders that had mysteriously arrived from another realm.
If there was anything in this world that could affect another, it was the power of the gods. And Sabo's heritage was that of an evil god.
If it could truly influence the players, then the Fourth Calamity would no longer be a calamity. Even if it couldn't, it was worth testing how the boss template might interact with the player template. If players could level up by killing NPCs, then bosses might level up by defeating players. If that was the case, victory was guaranteed.
"Yes, it's a wonder of the world," Bai Yi confirmed. "But unlike other wonders, this one seems to resemble intelligent creatures—likely elves or humans."
As for the players, while some enjoyed creating bizarre characters for novelty's sake, most still preferred appearances that were handsome or beautiful. The night elves, elves from various tribes, and humans were the most common choices. It had been the same in Bai Yi's past life. Perhaps due to the long familiarity with being human, elf players made up about 60% of the player base.
"You mean they'll just appear here out of nowhere, and can't be killed?" Sabo asked, surprised. He scanned the empty housing area before looking back at Bai Yi, his mind working rapidly.
"Exactly."
Sabo's curiosity piqued, and he immediately asked, "Do you think they could become permanent miners?"
Bai Yi shook his head. "Unlikely. Their bodies will disappear and reappear here next time. They're not permanent."
Sabo, still processing the information, muttered to himself. He didn't doubt Bai Yi's words—there was no reason to lie. After a moment, he looked up. "The only way to destroy a wonder is for it to disappear naturally. Anything else would require divine power. But if these wonders are human-like, there might be a way."
"What method?" Bai Yi asked, intrigued. The Fourth Calamity was no trivial matter. Players' birth points were tied to the city and couldn't be moved unless monsters broke the city, causing the points to shift.
"Sign a supreme contract with them and link them to the Abyss Consciousness," Sabo said with a sly smile. "The Abyss Consciousness could destroy the wonders, or even drag them into the abyss. Once the contract is signed, the wonders would be enslaved and unable to break it."
Bai Yi shook his head, refusing the idea. "No. They can't sign any contracts. The contracts of this world don't apply to them."
Sabo's smile faltered. He thought for a moment, then asked, "Are you sure they've landed here? You're positive?"
Bai Yi nodded. "Yes. I received confirmation through my special channel. There are five landing points for wonders in the Dawn Federation."
Sabo's expression turned serious. "Then we should apply for ownership of this land. I need time to think about this."
Bai Yi agreed, pausing only to take out a Dawn Badge with 12 million contribution points. He had earned 90 million from the auction, and Sabo had earned 30 million. After their 20% agreement, Bai Yi handed the badge to Sabo, then turned to walk towards the City Lord's Mansion.
There were still six days left, and he needed a position. With his potential rating on par with Mossen's, Bai Yi expected to secure a significant post. Mossen, the magic swordsman, was only 26 but had already reached the peak of silver-level, suggesting his SS-level potential would lead to gold-level mastery. Such talent was valuable—assuming it didn't get snuffed out prematurely.
Sabo, meanwhile, was visibly excited. Wonders held endless possibilities. With an evil grin, he began to take out strange, twisted items from his arsenal and began sprinkling green smoke around the area. His plan was to seal the wonders here for now. It would be difficult for anything below gold-level power to resist the seal, and then he could strategize further.
His thoughts raced. If these wonders were all elves and weak, perhaps he could turn this area into a brothel? As long as the wonders couldn't escape, it wouldn't matter. He could profit from them.
Meanwhile, Bai Yi emerged from the City Lord's Mansion, two new documents in hand. One was a land grant, officially making the player's birth point his private territory, allowing him to enclose it and build within it. The other was a job certification letter, granting Bai Yi the position of "Glory Hero."
The Glory Hero role was akin to a guest official of a noble family—holding a position just below that of a legion commander. It came with privileges but little responsibility, reserved for powerful individuals who didn't want to handle mundane affairs. It was a prestigious title with no actual authority.
Yet, Bai Yi didn't focus on the two certificates in his hand. Instead, his attention was drawn to a new line of glowing text on his personal profile panel.

The boss had a mission, and not just any mission—a hidden one!
Excited, Bai Yi quickly made his way to Dawn Pharmacy. He didn't even greet Irene or the others as he rushed into the laboratory, closed the door, and began studying the new task.
Players weren't unfamiliar with positions. Many had held official titles, but those roles usually didn't come with any benefits. In fact, the titles were often more valuable than the positions themselves. But becoming an NPC and receiving a task? That was unexpected!
Bai Yi focused intently as two potential tasks appeared before him.

Bai Yi raised an eyebrow. The task offered considerable freedom, with no penalty for failure. He pondered the next step. The position of "Glory Hero" seemed to be one of the highest available, perhaps only second to the City Lord. This role required obedience to the City Lord's orders and was clearly a special designation.
With the task ahead, Bai Yi felt a surge of anticipation. A new opportunity had just unfolded.
