Chapter 150: Yiying Media's Chen Chuan
Neither Chen Chuan nor Lu Yunque had expected Yun Zijin to propose such an arrangement.
But after a moment's thought, Lu agreed.
The 2 billion yuan from Lu Corporation wouldn't be handed over all at once. Yun merely wanted to split her contribution into multiple installments. Since Lu was already disbursing funds in stages, supplying five million yuan a day to the project wouldn't cause any issues.
Five million a day was more than sufficient.
Once Lu nodded, the look Yun gave him softened considerably. From now on, for quite some time, Yun wouldn't need to rack her brains figuring out how to fulfill her daily spending tasks. This also freed Meilin from having to transfer funds to the foundation every single day after work—Meilin was already busy enough managing the Red Star Orphanage affairs.
"Alright. Once the contract is signed, send me the account details, and I'll deposit the money on schedule every day," Yun said.
"Also, you'll need to be present at the signing. A billion yuan is no small amount," Lu added.
Even though a billion might not be much to Yun, it was objectively still a large sum of money. The contract couldn't be signed without her there.
"That's fine. Just tell me the time and place, and I'll be there," Yun confirmed.
"It's almost noon. Have you two eaten?" Lu asked, noticing more and more customers entering the milk tea shop.
In the current situation, Yun and Qin Sitong clearly had no time to grab lunch.
"It's alright—I just finished a cup of Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea and feel pretty full," Yun answered. "And from what your assistant said, you have other engagements. If you need to go, don't worry about us."
Right now, there were just the two of them managing the store, so Yun never thought they'd be able to grab a proper lunch today.
"Skipping meals is bad for you. Should I have someone bring you food?" Lu asked in a gentle, almost persuasive tone.
"No need. We can just order a quick takeout. Really, it's fine," Yun insisted. "You go handle your business; more customers are coming in, and I need to help."
With that, Yun stood and headed to the counter, where incoming customers were waiting, leaving Qin Sitong free to continue making milk tea.
Having finished his own cup of Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea, Lu rose, made his way over, and nodded to Yun to take his leave.
"You… you're Mr. Lu!" A voice suddenly called out just as Lu was about to exit. Its owner, wearing an astonished expression, walked up. "Hello, Mr. Lu! I'm Chen Chuan from Yiying Media. Didn't expect to see you here!"
Being stopped made Lu look somewhat displeased.
"Mr. Chen," Mo Bin interjected, "our president has a meeting to attend and needs to go now. Please let him pass."
Customers lined up at the counter had already taken most of the available seating. Chen Chuan had inadvertently cornered Lu with nowhere to go.
"Oh, sorry! By all means, go ahead—both of you!" Chen Chuan stepped aside apologetically.
Lu and Mo Bin skirted around him, briskly leaving the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop and disappearing from view.
"Wow, that guy was so handsome!" a female customer exclaimed.
"Yeah, I heard someone call him 'President.' He's got that cold, domineering CEO vibe, like in a romance novel!"
"I finally get why romance heroines remain smitten with their domineering CEOs, even if they're treated poorly—if my boyfriend looked like that, I'd probably slap myself twice whenever we argued!"
"You said it! Aaaah, it's too exciting!"
The two young women tried to keep their voices low, but excitement made them speak louder than they realized. Almost everyone in line heard their borderline "obsessive" conversation.
Behind the counter, Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong exchanged glances and barely suppressed the laughter threatening to spill out.
"Those girls have sharp eyes! I never imagined the president of Lu Corporation would come to a milk tea shop," someone remarked.
Chen Chuan, who had stopped Lu earlier, overheard and strolled over casually.
"What? He's the president of Lu Corporation?" one of the earlier chatty girls asked, wide-eyed.
Until now, they figured a young 'CEO' might head some unknown company. Finding out he was the president of Lu Corporation left them stunned.
"Certainly. I was fortunate enough to see him from a distance at a banquet once, and it was quite a moment. I'm also curious why Mr. Lu came to this milk tea shop. Could he be planning to buy it?"
After all, Lu Corporation and a small milk tea shop hardly seemed related.
"Haven't you tried the store's signature drink?" asked the second girl, blinking.
"What drink?"
"The 'Forget-Your-Worries' Milk Tea! We came across it heading back to campus yesterday, and ended up trying some. It was so surprisingly good, we actually came back again today."
If not for that specialty drink, they wouldn't even be out of their dorm room.
"Wow, you've made me curious," Chen Chuan admitted.
"Then buy one! The store's running a 20% off grand opening promo. Today and tomorrow are the final days of the discount. The price returns to normal the day after tomorrow," the first girl advised.
With 20% off, it's 70 yuan—an 18-yuan savings.
"Alright, since you two lovely ladies recommended it, I'll give it a shot," Chen Chuan agreed with a slight smirk. Good-looking and with a knack for banter, he easily made the two girls blush.
Moments later, Yun's voice broke their pink-hued bubble: "Excuse me, sir. Are you ready to order?"
Realizing they'd momentarily lost themselves, the pair's faces flushed deeper, and they scooted away from Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan: …It's just my personality. I wasn't really trying to do anything.
"Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea is capped at two hundred cups a day. Please join the queue, sir," Yun said. She'd been watching from behind the counter, and recognized that Chen Chuan left his spot to greet Lu just moments ago.
He found his old place in line gone. With little else on his agenda, he joined the back of the queue without complaint.
Seeing Chen Chuan queueing up, the two girls, with their own cups in hand, nodded a grateful farewell to Yun and Qin Sitong, then walked out, studiously avoiding the man.
Chen Chuan waited about ten minutes before finally reaching the front.
"A cup of Forget-Your-Worries Milk Tea," he declared.
"Certainly. That's originally 88 yuan, but with our three-day grand opening special, it's 70 yuan. Please scan here to pay," Yun directed.
"Seventy, huh? That's pricey." Though Chen Chuan could afford it, the figure still struck him as a bit much for milk tea, especially even after a discount.
"If you find it expensive, there are other drinks on the menu," Yun said calmly, pointing to the lower-priced selections.
"Fine, 70 it is. But if it's not good, I'm filing a complaint," Chen huffed, phone in hand to scan the QR code.
Yun smiled faintly. If he hadn't tasted it yet, of course he'd threaten a negative review. Considering how many returning customers they had, evidently the store had already built a positive reputation.
She trusted it wouldn't be long before they'd think about opening a second location.
