Chapter 132: A New Post

Qin Sitong happened to find a nice book and returned at that moment. Seeing Ling Er confronting a group of girls, she looked at Yun Zijin and asked what had happened.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing much," Zijin replied calmly. "Let's just read."

The girls who had been taking photos left reluctantly. After all, Zijin had threatened to hold them accountable if the pictures appeared anywhere, forcing them to act more cautiously. Once they were gone, the library finally settled back into silence.

Zijin randomly chose a book from her pile and began reading. She'd only been reading for a short while when she felt someone tug at her sleeve. Glancing up, she saw a stylishly dressed girl smiling at her. Zijin's expression cooled slightly as she looked at the hand on her sleeve; perhaps sensing Zijin's displeasure, the newcomer let go.

"Hi, I'm Pan Weiwei. You're Yun Zijin, the school beauty here at Dijing University, right? I've heard of you."

"Is there something you want? If not, I'm trying to read," Zijin said bluntly. It seemed like every time she tried to study, someone came to disturb her.

Pan Weiwei offered an apologetic grin. "Actually…I've been eyeing that bag of yours for a while but never could buy it. May I ask how you managed to get one?"

Zijin gave her a brief look. She didn't know this person at all, but the question was specifically about her Hermès diamond-buckle platinum bag.

"Oh, I got it at the store," she answered, choosing her words carefully. No need to mention how she'd gotten it virtually on the spot.

"Right, at the store. But how much did you spend on distribution? How long did you wait?" Pan Weiwei persisted.

Zijin really didn't want to answer in detail. She knew each Hermès client had a unique purchase record, and if she admitted she got the bag immediately, it might start trouble for the sales assistants.

"Let's say I ordered it from the SA a while back, so I waited," Zijin lied casually. "You ordered one too? Still waiting?" She feigned concern.

Hearing that, Pan Weiwei felt slightly better—at least Zijin claimed to have waited. But she was still peeved that a random student had gotten it first, especially since she prided herself on having the best family background among the current undergrads.

"Are you sure you got it through normal means? The color looks a bit off to me…" she said suddenly.

Zijin's gaze darkened. "If you think so, fine. Now, I'd like to read. Please don't bother me further."

"I'm sincere! I'll pay you a thousand more than the market price if you rent it out—what do you say?" Pan Weiwei asked.

Zijin's face turned cold. "Do you think I'm short that thousand yuan? Also, I don't want my bag showing up on any resale or rental website. If I see it there, I'll let my lawyers deal with you. I suggest you give up on the idea."

That ended the discussion. Sensing Zijin's glare, Ling Er stepped from the shadows, instructing the same girls who had taken pictures earlier to delete any photos of the bag. Initially, they were reluctant, wanting social media likes for capturing a rare item in the library. But Ling Er's stern, unyielding gaze left them no choice.

Qin Sitong had gone to look for another book. When she returned, she saw Ling Er confronting the group. She turned to Zijin. "What's going on?" she asked.

"Nothing," Zijin said. "Anyway, it's dealt with now."

The group left, wearing expressions of frustration. Once they were gone, the library quieted again. Qin Sitong and Zijin then settled into reading. They continued until about 11:30, deciding to get lunch at the school cafeteria.

As they exited the library, Qin Sitong checked her phone out of habit for any fresh campus gossip. Suddenly, her eyes widened.

"Zijin, look!" she exclaimed, holding out her phone. She'd opened the campus network, finding a top-trending post.

The post featured a high-definition surveillance video from the school library, capturing Zijin from the moment she walked in, to when she picked out books and returned to her seat. It also included screenshots zooming in on Zijin's face, clothes, shoes, and accessories—implying they were all luxury items.

If Zijin hadn't known she'd bought them herself, she might've believed the post's insinuation that she was being "kept." More worrisome was how whoever posted this had apparently accessed the library's security footage. They either were an insider or had hacking support. The post had gone up around 10 a.m., when Zijin and Qin Sitong were still reading, and in just half an hour it already had many comments.

Some read:

"Wow, whoever's backing the school belle must be loaded. This outfit alone costs millions!"

"School belle? More like sugar baby. If you're pretty enough, you can hook a rich sponsor!"

"But all we see is her pricey attire. We don't see any man. How does that prove she's being 'kept'?"

"True, but we all know she used to work part-time for living expenses. No way she could afford that stuff on her own."

Zijin skimmed the thread. Many people apparently bought into the rumor or found it plausible. She sighed, handing Qin Sitong's phone back. "Sure enough, they claim I'm dating a 'wealthy sponsor' again."

"Zijin, this is insane," Qin Sitong muttered. "They're even posting library surveillance now? That's a breach of privacy!"

Zijin nodded, eyes narrowed. "I'll have Meilin check this. Either an insider or a hacking job. Whoever it is, we'll hold them responsible."
