"Oreiha, just know I will always be with you no matter what."
Slow taps on her shoulder averted her attention. As she turned around she saw Jecca holding the hand of a black-haired girl with a bowtie on her head. The girl had her arms close to her body with her body slightly turned away from Oreiha. She was constantly looking at Oreiha before looking back at the ground.
Oreiha being an introvert herself knew that the girl had difficulties talking to people.
"Oreiha, this is Abby! I found her alone on the streets!"
Abby raised her hand slightly before gradually extending her fingers after Jecca tapped her a few times.
"Hi.."
Continuing to stare at Abby Oreiha didn't know what to say. She was only used to talking to her friends, not strangers.
But as Oreiha was panicking about not knowing how to talk with a stranger, Maro gently nudged her to the side and bent down to Abby's level.
"Hi there Abby!"
He then handed her some snacks he had on him that were originally Oreiha's emergency snacks.
Oreiha's eyes narrowed as she saw her emergency snacks being sacrificed for a stranger.
Seeing the look in Oreiha's eyes Abby immediately shook her head and said she was allergic to that snack.
"Oh… that's a bummer."
Jecca raised her voice finally remembering why she brought Abby to them in the first place.
"Guys guys, Abby needs our help!"
Maro turned back towards Abby and asked her what she needed help with.
Covering her mouth she quietly mumbled that she had lost her cat plushie whilst being outside.
After spending the afternoon finding Abby's lost plushie. Abby was incorporated into the squad. Regularly come over to hang out with Orei and Jecca. She wouldn't talk much about her family, nor did she ever invite them to her house.
"Oreiha, do you think pink or purple looks better on me?"
Abby swirled around with her skirt before awaiting Oreiha's comments.
"I think -"
"I THINK PURPLE LOOKS BETTER!" Jecca interrupted.
Oreiha saw how Abby popped a blood vessel as Jecca intruded on their talk.
She turned around furiously pointing her finger at Jecca.
"I wasn't asking you! I was asking Oreiha's opinion."
Turning back towards Oreiha whilst pouting she asked one more time what color would suit her the best.
"Purple."
"HEY!"
Abby and Jecca started to bicker in front of Oreiha after Jecca intervened one more time.
Oreiha stood there motionless not knowing what to do or say to stop them from fighting.
"Hey hey! What is going on here?"
Her savior had arrived. She closed her eyes and thanked the heavens for Maro arriving at such a perfect moment.
Maro quickly resolved their fight and everything went back to normal.
Every now and then, Jecca and Abby would start an argument. It was as if they always had polarizing opinions.
It was a warm summer day, and the whole squad had gathered at a secret hangout location in the middle of the forest.
There was the beautiful blue lake right next to them. Maro and Gel set up the grill and picnic blanket.
Leto and Oreiha were near the flora, looking for pretty flowers to pick. Jecca had brought her own fishing equipment and had everything set up at the lake. From a distance, Abby stood there watching Jecca fishing.
Fish after fish, Jecca made it seem like a walk in a park. She caught these small fish and then used the small fish as bait and caught even bigger fish.
Abby slowly approached Jecca but still, at a distance, Jecca wouldn't notice. Something big was on the hook. The water was rippling as Jecca fought the beast in the water.
Jecca grunted as she poured all her strength into pulling it up. The rod flew up into the air as she pulled. The giant pike flew in the air. Thrashing around before skydiving right into Abby.
A slimy and wet Abby threw the fish to the side as it was still thrashing and bobbing around on her chest slapping her face with its tail.
"GET THIS FISH OFF ME."
She started to sob.
Jecca tried to comfort her, apologizing for the first time with a sense of guilt.
"You threw… a damn fish… on me."
Jecca struggled to find an answer before saying.
"How about you try fishing? Take revenge for the fish slapping you?"
"Ok."
"Wait seriously? You gonna forgive me if I let you fish?"
"Yes."
Abby stood silently by the shore and held the rod firmly in her hands. She waited and waited until finally she caught something. It was a small little fish. A baby blue gill. She immediately threw it back, she had to get a bigger one. Jecca stood there watching Abby constantly trying to get a big fish.
After an hour of getting small catches, Abby finally got something big on the line. As she reeled it in. She took notice of where Jecca was sitting. As the fish neared the surface, she pulled as hard she could to make the fish fly into the sky.
Soaring through the bright summer skies with illuminating rainbows was a rainbow trout. It was like a missile heading straight towards its target. Jecca who was sitting quietly watching her saw as the fish descended upon her. She looked up and finally realized why Abby would forgive her after fishing.
