"Nice job, Sara-cha. It seemed to be that you have already mastered how to use this gear."
I took off my goggle and took a look at the what I had accomplished. The beam had created a hole on the smooth surface, while the structure remained stable - it was a perfect run, thanked to the new gear developed by SAIR's technical department.
"Want to take a break? I think we are good for today." Right beside was Huashin Kou, the team instructor. She seemed to be satisfied with today's test result.
After I changed my clothes, we headed to the lounge located at the lower entrance of the headquarter.
It would be nice to have a refreshing drink after the intense training session. As usual, I took some ice coffee with grass milk from the machine, while Huashin grabbed some juice from the fridge.
"It is kinda rare for girls in your age drinking coffees without sugar," Huashin said. That's true. For me, I don't really call those kind of drinks as coffees, since I can only taste the toppings rather than the coffee itself.
After we sat down, Huashin asked me about Jun, "So Sara, if I remembered correctly, your brother will soon become a full-time agent by the end of this summer, right?"
That's true. This year was the last year of him being an SAIR intern, as he would soon turned 18. Even though there would be a four year period of studying at a special institute, it was clear that he will take some serious missions after becoming a full-time agent.
"That's right. He also told me that he would attend the Federal Intelligence Institute in Niangkin after graduating from high school,"
"That's pretty good for him. Many people who graduated from the SAIR internship program do would have strong connections with the organization." Huashin explained, "However, it was rare for them to still stay within the circle, since they knew that being a full-time agent meant more responsibilities and more risks."
It was an accurate analogy, as those graduating from the internship program would have a higher chance of promoting into higher positions in SAIR in compare to the ones who just started their training after graduating from the university. Meanwhile, being an instructive agent also meant that they also had to take care of the newbies during field missions while directing the mission themselves if necessary.
"Yeah, that's true." I replied.
"So, Sara-cha, what are your plan after you graduated from the internship program? Because if I remembered correctly, you would also graduate in two years."
"To be honest, I'm not really sure. Currently, I think I would go to an university, like the University of Niangkee, and complete my degree there. However, if the SAIR wanted me to assist missions, I would do whatever I can to help." For me, I was not really into becoming a full time agent, only because I still wanted to stay in my normal life rather than living under constant stress. It was rather weird that my elder brother would prefer the stressful and dangerous life of facing criminals, disasters, and supernatural beings every single day.
"Emm, interesting. I mean, I won't force you to join the SAIR since it's really up to you. Actually, if you still want to hold onto your normal life while participating in SAIR missions, I think it would best for you can to apply for the civilian assistant program, in which you are still allowed to access the training facility and allowed to work along with SAIR agents whenever we need help."
That sounds like a better deal for me.
"Thank you for the information. I will considering it. But Instructor Huashin, may I ask a question that is a bit more personal?"
"Sure, I'm glad to answer that if I'm able to."
"So I heard some rumor recently said that you would be transferred to another facility next years May I ask whether that was true or not?"
"Actually, from the next year, I'm going to be transferred to the North-West Region for a year for the inter-regional liaison program," Huashin explained. "I know you guys must be very sad since you guys won't see me for the final years, but during that time, I have already designated a new instructor for all of you. Don't worry, the new instructor is a very close friend of me, and he will be very kind to you guys."
Even though Huashin tried to convince me that there won't be much change after her transfer, I still thought that it would not be the same without Instructor Huashin. In fact, she was the one who appoint me to join the rescue team and forgave me for not wearing the uniform for the first day.
"Sara, you seemed to be very sad now. Are you okay?" Huashin found me lowering my chin and tried to pacify me.
"I'm okay, but ... thank you for helping me for helping me throughout my internship! I will perform well and remember what you taught me no matter what happened!" It was something that came straight from my heart.
In response, Huashin stood up from her seat and came to me. She put her arm around my shoulder and softened my face like a mother: "Don't worry too much. Sara. I mean, it's not like I would be transferred to that division for the rest of my career, and we will meet again if you continued to work with the SAIR- " While she tried to pacify me, I noticed that her face said something otherwise, as I saw her trying her best to hide her sadness in front me. It seemed to be that the action was probably against Huashin's will.
"Thank you, Instructor Huashin."
