(A/N: Just lettin' y'all know I wrote this in like 40 minutes just to explain some of Yuki's past so it's not going to be well written and pretty damn short. Hope you enjoy the journey ahead. Peace.)
Third POV
Looking up at the cloudy sky, Yuki Greyler's expression morphed into one of worry. She was sitting on a small boulder in the middle of a snow-covered forest, reading a book on science reactions. Yuki often comes to this spot when her parents–specifically her mother–pisses her off.
At the young age of nine, her real parents were killed by a serial killer. After that, she was left all alone, with no family or friends to rely on, and was forced to live out on the streets. She lived in the most desolate alleys for years, only surviving out of luck and her talent at fighting. Despite her small size and frail physique, Yuki was able to trick and outsmart those who tried to harm her.
During one of her scuffles with some local thugs, where she beat the two men into a bloody mess, she caught the attention of a noble family. They had seen the way she had used their bodies and her small stature against them. To say that they were amazed would be the understatement of the century. A girl, who looked no older than 13, was able to completely overwhelm two adults twice her size in a matter of moments.
When they tried to approach her, however, she just ran. Due to her past in the streets, Yuki had learned to never stick around to find out. Now, she normally would ignore this and stay and fight, but she knew that she couldn't do that. Not this time.
After being in countless life-and-death situations in the slums, Yuki–like many others–gained the ability to gauge her opponent's strength, as well as their fighting prowess by looking at their posture. While she may be slightly masochistic, she did not want to die. So when she saw two people–both dressed in noblemen attire–that radiated confidence and strength, she ran. She ran like she did that night four years ago when her family was killed.
Yuki was never a very optimistic person, even before her parent's deaths. She had come to the conclusion that those men had seen her fight those people and wanted to get revenge or bring her to justice. She didn't think for even a second that they just wanted to talk to her.
So, she ran. She ran and ran and didn't stop until she was sure that the men weren't chasing her. When she finally stopped, she was lost. Yuki had never been to this part of the city before. It was far more luxurious than anything she had seen before. All the streets were clean, the houses tall with no blemishes, and the people wore similar clothing to the adults she was running from.
Yuki wanted to walk around and enjoy the luxury she had stumbled upon. It was eye candy for her. She was used to broken-down buildings, and roads coated in trash, with the citizens wearing nothing but torn rags.
She was completely astounded. In her entire life, she had never seen anything so grandeur. Yuki loved every moment of it. She fantasized about living here, in this beautiful place. But all things must come to an end.
Just as she started walking around, she noticed a sleek black limousine with tinted windows pull into the area she was in. Before she had the chance to even turn around, the same two men from earlier came out of the car and looked straight at her looking...happy?
When she finally turned around to run, they shouted at her to stop and that they just wanted to talk to her. She had no plans of stopping, but she tripped and fell face-first into a puddle. (A/N: Cliche...)
Yuki tried to get up, but she tumbled halfway and hit the ground again. The two adults worriedly ran up to her after seeing her fall while she gazed down at the angle, which unfortunately was bent at an unnatural angle. Due to the adrenaline and fear the pain hadn't registered. When it finally hit her, Yuki's vision blurred, and she fell unconscious.
One of the men turned to a crowd and called for an ambulance.
When Yuki woke up, she found herself in a white room. She was sitting on the most comfortable bed she had ever felt. She had never been in one before, but she knew she was in a hospital. Looking down at her ankle, she saw that it was wrapped in gauze and occasionally throbbed in pain.
Pushing herself up against the wall, she noticed a window on her right side. Outside was a very similar scene to what Yuki had seen previously. It was a street in pristine condition, with similarly-kept houses lining both sides.
Judging from where the moon was, the time was about seven 'o'clock at night. She soon heard the sound of a door creaking and turned her head.
"Hello there Miss." It was a familiar voice, the same one she had heard call for an ambulance.
"Who are you and what do you want with me," Yuki said with a tone that made it more of a demand rather than a question.
Looking surprised by her tone, he replied. "My name is Cameron Greyler, and I would like to adopt you. I do hope you will agree."
Well...that was unexpected. Looking confused she asked, "Why on Earth would I agree to that? And why do you want to adopt me anyway?"
"I assume you saw me watching you fight, correct?" Getting a nod, Cameron continued, "You have potential few possess. Your instincts are spectacular, and so is your agility and battle intelligence. You were able to see, understand, and think of countermeasures to every attack those men threw at you. Tell me, how old are you?"
Looking a little embarrassed at the praise, she said, "I'm thirteen. And by you asking to adopt me I assume you know that I have no parents, tell me how."
"Your appearance speaks volumes, Miss..." He looked at her, expecting her to finish his sentence.
"Yuki, no last name. Not anymore." She said with a crestfallen expression.
Taking out a piece of paper, Cameron said, "I know that you won't join me for nothing, so let's make a deal, you and I. You see, I don't like seeing potential wasted, and I'm guessing you need a place to live and grow in." Holding up the piece of paper, he showed that he is the owner of a worldwide fighting agency. "Yuki, come with me and allow me to teach you how to fight, and in return, I will grant you shelter and happiness." He held out his hand.
Looking at the paper, Yuki asked, "What do you gain from this deal? From how I see it, both ends benefit me, but neither benefit you. You give me shelter and train me but at your own expense."
"Like I said Yuki, I hate seeing young talents like yourself fail to be nurtured. My passion is fighting, and I wish to pass on that will to a worthy successor," Rubbing the back of his head, he smiled, "And I believe you to be that person."
Thinking it over a few times in her head, Yuki finally came to an answer.
"Fuck it, Yuki Greyler doesn't sound so bad, now does it?"
