Chapter 1 - Is This Really the End? Part I

In a lush forest, a young boy could be seen laying on his stomach on top of a boulder with an open book in front of him. Jake Silos was an average-looking child, with brown hair and eyes, a rather plain face, and quite a bit of baby fat left, he could be called cute at best. Despite his young age, in his thoughts he was often cursing at his unknown biological parents for their not-so-great genes.

Jake was an orphan. His parents died in a car crash the day after he was born due to a terrible snowstorm. He was born on Christmas Day, a very welcomed present for his parents. After they had perished, Jake was put into a local orphanage. He grew up there, making friends and considering them his family. Despite this, he still wanted to be adopted. And on his fifth birthday, his wish came true.

Jake was adopted by a family of merchants. His new father, Cameron Silos, was quite the looker. He possessed a tall and decently built physique similar to someone participating in martial arts, blond hair that would put even the sun to shame, and eyes as blue as the sky. His personality was great too. Cameron was kind to everyone around him and was very charismatic.

His mother, Sophia Conwell, was quite the beauty as well. She had flowing black hair, white porcelain skin, and a curvy figure. All in all, she was beautiful. Her personality on the other hand was not beautiful. Sophia was often cold to everyone around her, often resulting in people shying away from her. She was an intelligent individual, who often used her brain to argue with people.

Cameron and Sophia didn't like each other much, and certainly didn't love one another. Their marriage was strictly for political purposes. That is also the reason they decided to adopt. Cameron was someone who believed that only people who truly love each other should make love and procreate. Their families demanded that they have an heir however, and since neither wanted to make a child for their own reasons, they decided to go to an orphanage in a remote part of the city.

Shaking away his thoughts, Jake closed his book and got up off of the rock he was perched on. "I should probably head back now. Cameron might be worried." Sighing loudly, he jumped of the rock, crouching when he landed to absorb the impact from his small and frail body. Stuffing his hands into his pockets, he causally strolled though the woods, following the trail back to his house.

Soon, his figure could be seen entering the backyard of an expensive looking house through the woods. Walking up to the back door, he grabbed the handle and tried to twist it.

'Huh, they never lock the back door when I'm in the forest. Weird.' Shrugging, he circled around the large house and tried to open the front door. "Really? The doors are never locked during––" Looking up at the house, he realized something and stopped talking. "For fucks sake, this is the wrong damn house! I'm an idiot!" Looking to the right, he saw his house next door and started walking towards it.

After making it to the front door he twisted the knob and sighed in relief once the door opened.

"Dad, I'm back!" Jake shouted, letting his father aware that he had returned from his usual trip to the forest. After placing his coat and shoes in the correct spots, he ran up the stairs to his room an placed the book he was carrying on his bookshelf.

Hearing footsteps coming up the door, Jake left his room and closed the door behind him. Turning around, he came face to face with Cameron. "Yo Dad, what 'cha up to?"

"Nothing much, just waiting for you to get back from your adventure so I can make dinner." Smiling he patted the small child in front of him. "Your Mother is in her study. She's on a phone call with her boss, so don't interrupt her, okay?"

Nodding, Jake walked past his father, who was about walk back down the stairs to the kitchen. "Alright, I'ma go hop on and play something with Triss"

"You know he doesn't like you calling him that, Jake." Smirking, his father walked down the stairs to the first floor while calling back to his son. "I'll call you when the food is ready."

One hour later

"Foods ready!" Hearing his father, Jake said his goodbyes to his friend Tristan and shut his console off. Walking out of the gaming room, his nose was assaulted with the scent of his favorite food. The second it entered his nostrils, he started running down the stairs while shouting. "Fuck yeah, curry baby!"

"Jake!"

Slowing down, he stopped on the last step. "Oh shit. I'm dead.
