Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Brian

Suburbs of Austin, Texas, USA.

The early morning sunlight shines through the curtains, illuminating the slightly dim room. On the big bed in the room, a boy of about 13 years old is sleeping soundly. The sunlight outside the window seems to make him feel a little uncomfortable. His eyes tremble slightly, and he unconsciously turns his head to face the window.

"bite--!"

Just as the boy turned his head, the cat-face-shaped alarm clock on the bedside table next to him made a shrill knocking sound, waking the boy from his sleep.

Frowning slightly, the boy stretched his arms out from under the quilt, turned off the alarm clock on the bedside table with ease, and then slowly opened his sore eyes.

Rubbing his eyes, the young man sat up from the quilt, stretched his limbs and stretched hard, while making a strange sound like constipation.

I looked at the time on the alarm clock and it was already 7:00. I lifted the quilt without any reluctance, put on the slippers beside the bed, went into the bathroom and started washing.

Picking up the cup and toothbrush on the sink, the boy looked at his handsome appearance in the mirror, and said with a little pride:

"I didn't expect to have such benefits after traveling through time."

That's right, the boy is a person who traveled through time accidentally due to death. It has been almost a month since he came to this world. He has gone from being confused and uneasy at the beginning to gradually adapting to the present world. He found that this world is not much different from his original world.

In this world, his name is Brian. Due to work reasons, he is away from home all year round, so there are only him and a nanny in the whole house. This also saves him the embarrassing situation of having to recognize his parents as soon as he travels through time.

In general, he is very satisfied with his current life. He is free from the life pressure of his previous life and does not have to worry about the mortgage and car loans that weigh on his head every day. The most important thing is that he is an orphan there and has never been married, so he can live here without any psychological burden.

After washing up, Brian took off his pajamas, took out a set of school uniform from the closet and put it on. After a simple tidying up, he turned around and left the room.

In the lobby on the first floor, a middle-aged woman was preparing breakfast in the kitchen. When she heard footsteps coming from the stairs, she leaned back and saw Brian standing on the stairs.

"Hey, you got up really early today."

Seeing the middle-aged woman who suddenly stuck out half of her head, Brian nodded and greeted him: "Good morning, Josie."

"Please go sit at the dining table, breakfast will be ready soon.

Brian walked through the living room and sat on a chair in the dining room. He picked up the newspaper on the table and started reading. There was nothing he could do since he didn't have a cell phone with him. However, when he saw the content of the newspaper, his brows slightly frowned.

"The number of hospital admissions in the region has surged, with bizarre infections causing a 300% increase in the number of patients."

"FDA's Food Sanitation Division has discovered more contaminated crops and anticipates large recalls."

"A woman went crazy and killed her husband and three others."

Brian discovered that since he crossed over, the number of strange infections and murders in this world has increased sharply every day, which made him very suspicious whether his arrival had brought some strange changes to this world.

"You have to finish your breakfast."

While Brian was reading the newspaper carefully, Josie had already brought the prepared breakfast to him: eggs, donuts, potato pancakes and milk, a typical American breakfast.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes. At this moment, he missed the soy milk, fried dough sticks and porridge he had eaten in his previous life. It's not that they were so delicious, but eating these sweet and energy-filled foods every day was really unacceptable to him.

After taking a few quick bites, Brian took up his bag and rushed out the door while Josie wasn't paying attention, not paying any attention to the other person's voice calling out behind him.

"Hey, Brian."

Just as he turned around and closed the door, Brian heard someone calling his name. He turned around and saw that it was the girl who lived next door to him calling him.

The girl's name was Sarah. She had short light blonde hair and was very cute. She was the first friend Brian made when he first came to this world. Well, he also got a lot of general information about his original self and all the nearby residents from her.

"Good morning."

Seeing Sarah walking quickly towards him, Brian greeted her warmly. Then he saw a middle-aged man with a square face and a full beard standing not far behind the girl, staring at him with a bad look.

The middle-aged man was called Joel, Sarah's father, and seemed to be a construction worker. Brian had never seen his wife, but he thought that she was either divorced or dead.

Brian looked at the other person's eyes that were like looking at a pig, and his mouth twitched slightly, but he still greeted the other person very calmly:

"Good morning, Joel."

Joel on the other side stared at him for a long time, until Brian felt a little uncomfortable, then he nodded slightly to indicate his intention, and then picked up his cell phone to make a call. Although the distance was a bit far, he could still hear the other party seemed to be talking about something like a contractor.

"Hmm~" Sarah, who was standing nearby, witnessed the whole process clearly. She smiled softly with her hands covering her mouth, patted Brian on the shoulder, and when he turned to look at her, she said jokingly:

"My dad doesn't seem to like you very much."

"hehe."

Brian and Sarah attend the same school, which has a special shuttle bus. Because they live in the suburbs of the city and near a highway intersection, students here wait at designated locations for safety reasons and get on the bus directly when it arrives.

If you fail to arrive at the designated time due to personal reasons, sorry, you will need to drive or take the bus to send your child to school yourself.

"Good morning, Jimmy."

"Good morning, Cooper."

"......"

The two were walking on the road they passed every day. Sarah seemed particularly happy today. She kept waving her arms and saying hello to the people she knew passing by.

"Hey, Brian."

When there was no one else around, Sarah turned her head and said to Brian:

"I'm planning on sneaking out of school and going to the mall today. Do you want to come?"

Brian raised his eyebrows with a somewhat surprised expression. After spending a month together, he knew that Sarah was a very well-behaved girl, but he didn't expect that she would have such a rebellious side.

"Teacher Judy will be mad if you dare to do that."

"Humph, as long as she doesn't find out, that's fine."

Sarah was obviously well prepared for skipping class today. She took out a piece of paper folded into a square from her pocket and handed it to Brian.

"This is what I saw on Teacher Judy's desk last time. You can tell by looking at this."

Brian took the paper from Sarah and unfolded it. He immediately understood the other party's confidence. The content on it was as follows:

XX School Notice:

Our school will hold a XXX meeting in the public meeting room on September 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm. All teachers of our school are requested to arrive on time.

"You've been prepared for this."

Brian shook the notice in his hand and was very surprised. Then he asked curiously:

"What are you doing skipping class to go to the mall?"

"Today is my father's birthday and I plan to buy him a present."

"Okay then, when will I leave with you?"

"I'll let you know."

.....

Entering the school bus, Brian randomly found a seat and sat down, admiring the beautiful scenery outside the window. This was a scenery he had never been able to see when he lived in the city before. Compared to the cold steel, cement and concrete, he actually liked the green and vibrant scene in front of him more.

The school bus drove slowly for half an hour before Brian and Sarah arrived at the school. The teachers were already waiting at the school gate. After the door opened, they led their classmates back to the classroom.

The education method here is completely different from what Brian has experienced before. It is very happy and there is basically no teacher supervision.

He could feel that teachers in American schools paid more attention to students' imagination and creativity, taking the route of high-end education, while his previous education focused on learning and cognitive abilities, taking the route of basic education. Both had their advantages and disadvantages, and it was difficult to say whose method was better.

Another morning was spent happily like this. Brian came to the cafeteria and looked at the burgers and sandwiches in the window with a helpless expression. He could feel his stomach protesting, but skipping lunch was not good for his health. He had no choice but to cook a small meal at night.

Brian just walked out of the cafeteria after lunch and saw someone posting the latest notice on the notice board at the entrance of the restaurant.

With nothing to do, he walked forward curiously. After the person who posted the notice left, he walked forward to take a look.

It turned out that due to the increasingly serious infectious disease that suddenly emerged recently, the entire Austin is about to enter a state of martial law. The school issued a notice that from October, the school will be closed indefinitely. Students are requested to return home and inform their parents. If you have any concerns, please call XXXXXX.

"Is it that serious?"

Recalling an epidemic in his previous life, Brian decided to buy some masks to prepare for it. But just as he was about to turn around and leave, a large group of students appeared behind him, all looking at the notice excitedly, and some even clapped and cheered excitedly.

After finally squeezing out of the crowd and about to return to the classroom, he suddenly felt something poking his waist from behind. His footsteps paused slightly, and he turned around to find that it was Sarah standing behind him.

Seeing him turn around, Sarah blinked, made a shushing gesture, pointed to a corner of the cafeteria, and said silently with her lips touching:

"action!"
