Chapter 163: The Space Ring
Swish!
A beam of white light shot through the air, cutting deep into the ground where Baishi had just been standing. It left a wide trench but failed to harm him.
Why? Because before the light could touch him, Baishi had already disappeared.
Moments later, Ōnoki arrived at the site, hovering in the air. As he surveyed the barren ground below, his expression turned grim.
"Baishi!"
After a long silence, Ōnoki ground his teeth and growled the name. He had recognized the infamous rogue ninja immediately.
Baishi could imagine Ōnoki's anger, but he paid it no mind.
At that moment, he was hundreds of kilometers away, studying the space ring he had created.

"Hm, not bad. It opens smoothly," Baishi mused.
As he injected chakra into the ring, the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal engraved on it activated. A small spatial rift appeared before him.
To test its functionality, Baishi picked up a stone and tried to place it into the rift.
Crack!
The stone shattered into pieces as it passed through the rift.
"What's going on...?"
Frowning, Baishi inspected the rift. Then, he picked up another stone and carefully enveloped it in a layer of chakra before sending it through.
This time, the stone passed through smoothly, as if sliding into a dark mirror, disappearing into the space beyond.
"It worked!"
Baishi smiled, muttering to himself, "So it was due to spatial fluctuations..."
When he had placed the first stone into the rift, he had sensed a faint spatial disturbance. Without his upgraded Spatiotemporal Sense, he might not have detected it.
These spatial disturbances, though slight, had been enough to shatter the unprotected stone.
Normally, the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal should open a stable spatial rift. However, since it was connecting two different dimensions, minor fluctuations were inevitable.
Going forward, Baishi noted that all objects sent through the rift would need a protective layer of chakra to prevent damage.

The clone gave him a resigned look before diving headfirst into the spatial rift.

"As expected, living beings can enter the space."
However, his expression soon turned contemplative. "But how long can they survive inside?"
Baishi hadn't yet seen the interior of the space himself, but he was certain it wouldn't support long-term habitation for living beings.
The severance from the original dimension—facilitated by the Heaven-Sealing Technique—meant the space no longer had access to the energy and conditions necessary to sustain life.
For now, he would have to wait for the Wood Clone's exploration results.

The space ring on Baishi's palm glowed faintly. He sensed that the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal was being activated from the inside.
He considered helping the clone emerge but ultimately decided against it.
Moments later, the ring shone brightly, and a spatial rift opened. The Wood Clone stumbled out, looking slightly disheveled.
"What happened to you?" Baishi asked, surprised by the clone's state.
The clone shook its head. "See for yourself."
With that, it dissolved into wood fragments, transferring its memories back to Baishi.
In his mind, Baishi saw everything the clone had experienced.
The space was utterly dark, devoid of light.
"Without the dimension's original energy supply, even light has been stripped away," Baishi muttered.
To aid his exploration, the clone had created a small fireball in its hand. By its dim light, it had painstakingly examined the space.
What had once been a modestly-sized sub-dimension had shrunk to less than five square kilometers—a fraction of its original size.
Most of the space had been rejected during the sealing process.
What remained was barren and desolate. Not only were there no animals, but even the vegetation was sparse and barely clinging to life.
As Baishi had suspected, the space was unfit for sustaining living organisms. While not completely inhospitable, it offered only temporary survivability.
For Baishi, this was more than sufficient. The reduced space was still a valuable asset, and its unique nature ensured that it could store items securely.
One discovery gave him pause: activating the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal from within the space consumed roughly ten times the normal amount of chakra.
This had been the cause of the Wood Clone's disheveled appearance. After expending chakra to explore, the clone had barely managed to gather enough to reopen the rift.
Baishi noted this limitation and resolved to keep his chakra reserves full whenever using the space ring.
His gaze then shifted to the unconscious Han lying nearby.
The Nine-Tails had been heavily drained during the sealing process and was still recovering. In contrast, the Five-Tails was in relatively good shape, having lost only a portion of its chakra.
Baishi didn't hesitate. Before he could use the Five-Tails' power, he needed to bypass the seals on Han.

Baishi successfully created a small opening in Han's seal.
As soon as the seal weakened, the Five-Tails' chakra surged forth, but before it could act, Baishi intervened.
Activating Energy Absorption, he began siphoning the tailed beast's chakra.
Golden chains formed from chakra emerged from Baishi's hands, binding the Five-Tails within Han's sealing space.
With the beast subdued, its chakra flowed freely into Baishi, replenishing his reserves.
The Five-Tails roared in frustration, but its resistance was futile.
"Perfect."
Watching his chakra reserves climb steadily, Baishi smirked.
