Kwasi walked into the village feeling very weak and tired. The way people looked at him, Kwasi didn't like it.
A girl of his age met him and asked, "please stranger, are you looking for someone?". Kwasi wanted to say yes, but how is he going to tell the name of his grandparents when he knew non of them?.
Kwasi said, "no, am called to do some work, but it's just that I don't see the person". "Ahh, okay. But you don't appear to be well, please would you like to rest at my place?. After you've gained energy, you can look for the person who called you, he is in the next village right.?" the girl asked or said, it wasn't clear to Kwasi.
After standing for a while, Kwasi agreed to go and rest at the girl's place for he was so tired. "Please follow me".
The sky at this point of time had a blue and white colour drawing patterns in the sky.
Kwasi followed the girl into a triangular hut. "This is my house and home" the girl said. The hat contained two wooden beds and a small kitchen. Almost all the hut in that small village was built with red clay.
"Please you can rest, am going out to buy food stuffs" the girl said as she turned to leave.
"You said there's another village?" Kwasi asked. "Yes please" the girl answered as she walked out from the hut.
"It's strange, how can a stranger from nowhere be welcomed like this?" Kwasi asked.
"Or maybe she's kind, or.., should I believe this girl?".
All of a sudden Kwasi started to feel giddy. His head ached him. "What's happening?" he asked softly. As he was trying to figure out why his head was aching, he heard someone outside saying, "he is in there, he came from the thick forest. He may be one of the evil beasts who has transformed into a human being". Because Kwasi was feeling giddy, he didn't clearly hear the voice of who was speaking. "Can evil beasts transform" Kwasi asked in mind. He himself was not feeling good, and was trying to know why, when he heard someone shout "hey the person in there, come out!". "Send the message to the leader, immediately that we've surrounded an evil beast who has transformed into a human".
"No, am not an evil beast" Kwasi muttered as he fell down unconscious. His body temperature was hot; like a desert.
When Kwasi opened his eyes again, his hands were tied with a rope, and was kneeling before an old man, who wore a grey dress. He had a long white bear and was tall. The old man stood with four middle aged men, surrounding Kwasi in a small room, with fire as their source of light.
"Who are you and where are you coming from?" the old man asked.
"I am..
"Wait, I can't tell them who I really am" Kwasi said in mind.
"Appiah, from Gbewaa village".
"Appiah, from Gbewaa village?" the old man asked, Kwasi only shook his head in agreement. "Why should I believe you?. Because I want to". "For what?" Kwasi threw back a quick question. "For your identity" the old man answered. "This old man..".
"Okay. Free me, and I will go with you to my village"
"Oh, that's your idea. How far is your village?"
"It took me three days to get here".
"Three days, that's okay but, the old man you're talking to is not the kind of person he's potraying to be now. I'm not this patient, my friend, so I'm going to ask you one time. Who are you and where are you coming from?"
"Just like I said, am Appiah and am coming from Gbewaa village!".
"I have travelled across and never heard of a village called Gbewaa" the old man said walking to Kwasi. "He doesn't knowGbewaa is a village?. Then guess a fight is next" Kwasi muttered as he tried getting up.
"I am going to ask you again. Who are you and where are you coming from?". "I said I am Appiah and am coming from Gbewaa village!".
"Attack!" the old man ordered.
The other 4 men, all in white-white dreess, jumped, "ape hands" they all said as an ape hand backed their right hand. "Hmm" Kwasi smiled as he tried to get up. When he tried, he fell to the floor. "Your legs are tied with the eternal rope, and you know it's invisible to the normal eyes. And also, it's not easy to be freed from it".
"Who are you and where are you coming from?" this time around, when the old man spoke, the ground quivered. "Another chance is given. Who are you and where are you coming from?".
Kwasi was speechless now.
Just before the 4 men could punch Kwasi, a loud and energetic voice spoke in from outside, "leave my grandson!". The old man and the 4 men hearing this, they retreated. Quickly, one of the 4 men who came on attacking walked to Kwasi and untied the ropes and run back to join the other 3. "Grandson?" the old man asked shivering. "Grandma??" Kwasi stood up. "Where's my bag?" Kwasi asked.
"With..wit..wi..wi..with a physician".
When Kwasi fainted and was taken by two strong men, his bag was sent to the old man.
And when the old man opened the bag, the scent and gas that flew out was new to him. The exilirs and other herbs he saw to were different to him. So he sent it to a physician for research.
"Physician?" Kwasi asked.
"Don't worry my grandchild, I believe your bag is in a safe hands. I hope it is, elder Maanu?.
My grandchild, come to me on the Boadu mountain" when the voice spoke, it was gradually waning. "Okay grandma" Kwasi said humbly.
"Is somebody going to lead the way to mountain Boadu?". "Ye..ye..yes I am young leader" one of the 4 men who stood unsteadily said.
He led the way and whistling Kwasi followed him.
Mountain Boadu is 300 metres above the ground. There's a waterfall from it that emanates water for the people of the village.
When Kwasi got to the mountain, he pointed his thumb backwards, meaning the man who came to escort him should leave. The man did without hesitation.
Kwasi had no flying ability so he climbed. Finally when he reached the mountain's top, he saw an old woman dressed in a traditional cloth; the gyenyame and adinkra symbol was drawn in the cloth.
"My grandson" she said standing up. "You've come" she continued. "Grandma?" Kwasi asked with tears filled in his eyes. "My grandson, where is your father?..is he is scared I will be angry to see him because he wasn't around to safe your mother?".
That moment, Kwasi dropped down and tears flowed down his cheeks. The pain in him for loosing his father 9years ago was burried deep inside him. His father was his everything, his friend, his mom, family, teacher, enemy, everything at all.
"My papa died" Kwasi said. Grandma hearing this felt a roar of thunder in her heart. She asked,"was it because they've found the gift you were born with, your bloodline?". Kwasi hearing this raised his head slowly to his grandma, "grandma, do you know about my bloodline?"
