Chapter 20 - CH 020: Too strong

As the two opponents collided in a flurry of movement, Dave swiftly swung his hands in a wide, sweeping arc, expertly intercepting Sonya's attempted punch before she could even fully form a fist. The sound of his hands whipping through the air was followed by a loud, sharp slapping noise as they narrowly missed making contact with Sonya's face, the shockwave from the near-miss sending her reeling backwards.

For a fleeting moment, Sonya's vision blurred and she felt as though she was staring up at a celestial canvas, a kaleidoscope of stars exploding in her field of view. Her eyes watered and her head spun, the force of Dave's swift counterattack leaving her momentarily dazed and disoriented.

As the effects of Dave's swift slap lingered, Sonya continued to roll backwards, her body propelled by the momentum of the blow, until she finally came to a stop at the edge of the ring. There, she struggled to her feet, her eyes still clouded by the swirling stars that seemed to dance before her vision. Despite her best efforts to clear her head, Sonya's gaze remained unfocused, her eyes watering profusely as she shook her head violently in a desperate bid to restore her vision.

A trio of concerned referees hastened to Sonya's side, their faces etched with worry as they began to administer a series of tests designed to assess the extent of her injuries. They held up their fingers, asking Sonya to follow their movements with her eyes, but she was unable to track even the simplest of motions. Next, they asked her to count the number of fingers they raised, but Sonya's responses were hesitant and inaccurate, her eyes straining to make out even the most basic shapes and forms.

The referees exchanged worried glances, their faces grave with concern, as they realized the full extent of Sonya's condition. Despite their best efforts to revive her, Sonya's vision remained severely impaired, her eyes able to discern only the faint, white lights that surrounded her, a constant reminder of her temporary blindness.

As the referees continued to assess Sonya's condition, it became increasingly clear that she was in no state to continue the fight. Her temporary blindness had rendered her unable to defend herself, let alone launch a counterattack. With a heavy heart, the referees were left with no choice but to conclude the fight, declaring Dave the winner by default. The outcome was hardly surprising, given Sonya's incapacitated state, and Dave's dominant performance throughout the match.

As the news of Dave's victory spread like wildfire through the arena, the crowd erupted into a frenzy of cheers and applause, their enthusiasm and admiration for Dave's impressive skills reaching a fever pitch. For the second time that day, Dave stood triumphant in the ring, his arms raised in victory as the crowd roared its approval.

What was even more remarkable, however, was that Dave had achieved this impressive feat without sustaining even the slightest injury, his body remaining unscathed and unblemished throughout both matches.

Tasha's face contorted in disappointment and anger as she turned to face the other participants. "Can someone just defeat this bastard already!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with frustration and desperation. However, instead of rallying to her call, the participants took a collective step backward, their eyes wide with fear. It was clear that they were all intimidated by the prospect of facing Dave.

Even Mia and Kia, the normally fearless twins, seemed unwilling to step up to the challenge. They exchanged nervous glances, their usual confidence and bravado noticeably absent.

Tasha's anger boiled over at their reluctance. "What's wrong with you guys?" she yelled, but not loud enough to be heard by those around.

Just then, the announcer's voice boomed through the speakers, calling for the next participant to take the stage. However, in a shocking turn of events, the designated participant refused to step forward.

"Mia, why aren't you going up?" Tasha asked, her brow furrowed in confusion. "It's your turn."

Mia hesitated, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry, Tasha, but I don't think I can do it."

Tasha's expression turned incredulous. "What do you mean?" she demanded, a single visible vein throbbing on her forehead.

Kia intervened, her voice laced with a mix of fear and resignation. "It's just as they said, Tasha. And I'm sure you have seen all of Dave's fights so far? He's ridiculously strong and skilled. I don't think any one of us can land a single scratch on him. This whole fight is just pointless."

Tasha's face turned red with indignation, as she replied back to her. "He may be stronger than you, but he's not stronger than me," she declared, her voice dripping with confidence. "And don't you dare tell me that this perfectly planned match is pointless. I'm going to prove to everyone here that Dave is nothing but a scam and a fake."

With that, Tasha strode confidently towards the stage, her head held high. However, as she climbed the steps, her gaze met Anthony's, whose expression remained inscrutable. He watched her with an unreadable gaze, his eyes seeming to bore into her very soul.

Anthony was well aware of the futility of her actions. Even if she were to defeat Dave, nothing would change, as it would be attributed to her seniority as an executive. On the other hand, if she lost, she would not only lose her respect but also face humiliation and ridicule from everyone.

Despite the daunting odds, Tasha ignored it and instead steeled herself for the challenge ahead, her determination and pride driving her to confront Dave in the ring. That's how much she believed that Dave was nothing but a scam.

As she approached the stage, the announcer's voice had started booming through the speakers, building a high anticipation among the audience. "Well, guys, guess what?" he exclaimed, pausing for dramatic effect. "We've got a surprise twist! Our next participant has been replaced by a senior executive who has decided to take on Dave personally."

The crowd erupted into murmurs, clearly intrigued by the sudden change. The announcer continued, "As we've seen so far, the fight has been decidedly one-sided, with Dave emerging victorious against all his opponents. But will the senior executive's intervention be enough to shake things up? Can Dave continue his winning streak, or will our new challenger finally give him a run for his money?"

The audience was abuzz with excitement, sensing that the evening was about to get a lot more interesting. The announcer's voice rose above the din, "And now, please welcome the senior executive member who's brave enough to take on the undefeated Dave! A woman of great distinction, not only is she a high-ranking executive, but she's also the mastermind behind this thrilling match. Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Tasha Mikel!"

As the crowd applauded, Tasha strode confidently onto the stage, her eyes locked intently on Dave. Her gaze burned with a fierce determination, and it was clear that she was itching to clash with her opponent. The air was electric with anticipation as Tasha took her place opposite Dave, ready to put an end to his winning streak, and also to take revenge for her cousin.

As Tasha and Dave faced off against each other, the atmosphere in the room began to shift. A palpable sense of tension and anticipation started to build like a gathering storm. Sensing the momentum, the announcer raised his voice, his words slicing through the charged air.

"And let the fight begin!!"
