Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

Thunder in the Spiritual World?

Cassandra looked up at the dome of the ethereal temple, as if trying to pierce through its veil and glimpse the scene beyond. However, her vision was blocked—an unusual sensation for someone accustomed to overwhelming and dominating the spiritual realms of others.

She lowered her gaze to Russell, standing before her with a calm and resolute expression, starkly contrasting the panic she'd expected.

"You were waiting for me?" Cassandra arched an eyebrow, her lips curling into a curious smirk. "Interesting. So, you let me in on purpose?"

Russell's demeanor was unshaken, his tone steady as he replied, "You misunderstand something important."

Cassandra laughed, spreading her arms to gesture at the towering marble columns and the shimmering white throne at the center of this surreal temple. "A mistake? Here? Sure, I can feel my power being dampened slightly, but… you're too confident."

Russell shook his head. "While this place is indeed your graveyard, that's not the mistake I'm referring to."

Cassandra tilted her head, genuinely intrigued. "I think my plan went off without a hitch. The only unexpected factor was that old Loki managed to resist me momentarily. But that's irrelevant now. When we met, your fate was sealed. Isn't that right?"

She grinned wickedly, recalling how she had manipulated the events leading to this confrontation.

The Night Before

Amid the chaos of fire, a hidden opportunity presented itself.

Beneath the scorched ground lay more than Loki's schemes—it held a secret, one Cassandra had overlooked but Russell had anticipated: Frog Thor.

The cursed, diminutive version of Thor trapped in a glass jar, as seen in Loki's series, was more than it appeared. Though sealed away by a Loki's curse, it held latent divine power waiting to be unleashed.

In the fire's searing heat, the jar shattered, and the cursed frog began to change. Charred flesh peeled away, and the crimson glow of divine power surged outward. Thor's form began to regenerate.

Through the crackling flames, a guttural roar echoed:

"Loki! I will slaughter your entire clan! Jotunheim will fall into eternal darkness, and all nine realms shall kneel before me!"

But before Thor's vengeance could take shape, a flaming blade pierced his heart.

"Sorry," Russell murmured, standing in the inferno, holding the holy sword imbued with the power of Vishanti. "I released you from your curse, but not to let you rampage."

Thor's furious roar was silenced instantly. He perished before even comprehending who had struck him down.

Though the risk had been enormous, Russell's gamble paid off. Thor's long suppression and incomplete transformation worked to his advantage.

The Rewards of High Risk

The system's voice rang in Russell's mind:

Russell narrowed his eyes. Shadow Ancient Gods? These malevolent entities were the architects of Ragnarok. Could their influence have extended even to Thor's frog-cursed timeline?

His thoughts flashed to Odin's seemingly deliberate actions leading to Asgard's destruction in the Sacred Timeline. Had Odin been preparing for something even greater?

Russell smirked grimly, dismissing the warnings. "Power is the only truth. Let them come."

Back to the Spiritual World

Boom!

The thunder rumbled through the temple, and Cassandra's smirk faltered.

"What… is this?" she muttered, looking around as the temple transformed before her eyes.

The white marble floor began to glow with golden runes, and the air crackled with energy. Thunder roared, and lightning streaked across the vast dome.

Russell's calm demeanor shifted. His voice echoed through the now-stormy temple:

"You thought you were invading my mind. You were wrong. This is my world now."

Cassandra's eyes widened as arcs of electricity surged toward her. The temple was no longer an abstract reflection of his spirit but a Thunder God's Temple.

"You—how is this possible?!" she shouted, panic creeping into her voice.

Russell raised his hand, and a bolt of pure lightning crackled into existence, illuminating the space. His voice carried the weight of divine authority:

"Your overconfidence is your downfall, Cassandra."

With a deafening crash, he unleashed the storm.
