Chapter 6 - Purgatory Destroyed

Asher lay down on his bed in the room the Academy had provided for him. The Academy provided separate rooms for each contestant in order for them to maintain their privacy.

He had just finished speaking to his mother over the phone and told her everything that happened.

"I'm proud of you son." His father had said through the phone as well.

He lay on his bed and remembered the shock on people's faces when they saw that his match would be the first match the next day.

"So it was you?" A voice said and Asher began to see an apparition appear in front of him.

"And you are?" Asher said still laying on his bed without a care in the world.

"Insolent human. Do you not recognize power when you see it?" The apparition continued to speak. "I am the Demon King Azmuth."

"The Demon King huh? So you're the one who sent those other guys here aren't you?" Asher said still laying on his bed.

"I won't have you disrespect me like this." The Demon King said and Asher was instantly teleported to a place that was filled with stars.

"What is this place?" Asher asked.

"Purgatory." The Demon King replied. "It is the place where souls stay in wait for their judgement."

"So you mean that God exists?" Asher asked bewildered.

"Not in the way you believe." The Demon King replied. "This isn't the reason I came here. You disrespected the entire Demon race the moment you killed my two assistants."

"They were weak. That's all." Asher replied. "And moreover, from what I can sense this isn't your real body."

"You have keen senses. You're correct, this isn't my real body." The Demon King replied. "I came to you as a projection in order to gauge your strength."

"As I told the last guy who came, my strength isn't bound by any limitations." Asher replied.

"Insolent as always." The Demon King said and charged at Asher who dodged effortlessly and threw a punch of his own but the Demon King was fast enough to react and throw his own punch in retaliation. Their fists clashed and released an immense shockwave that shook the entirety of purgatory.

"Feel that? That's just a bit of my power." The Demon King said at the top of his voice. "The entirety of purgatory shook upon impact."

"So? I contributed as well." Asher said smiling. "You know, you're the first person who's ever matched me when I'm using one percent of my strength. The others just die instantaneously, like your two assistants."

"You continue to mock my kin in front of me?!" The Demon King outraged and let out an immense aura that shook purgatory and started causing cracks within it.

"Well um, purgatory is starting to break." Asher said to the Demon King, trying to inform him of what his aura was doing.

"It doesn't matter, purgatory would repair itself even if it is destroyed." The Demon King replied. He charged at Asher once again but Asher caught his and flung him upwards.

"Weak." Asher said from behind the Demon King showing his immense speed. He punched the Demon King so hard that the entirety of purgatory shook once again.

The Demon King fell to the ground with an immense thud. "This isn't right, no one has been able to beat me this badly, even though it was my avatar." The Demon King said to himself.

"That's what they all say." Asher said. "You were thinking that no one has ever beaten you this much right? Well, I'll beat you up even more."

Asher released a flurry of attacks on the Demon King, with each attack shaking the realm of purgatory to it's source. The Demon King flew an immensely far distance after Asher kicked him in the midsection.

"Wow, this place seems to have infinite size." Asher said looking around. "He just flew the entire length of the Milky Way."

Asher went after the Demon King's body and stopped it's flight with one finger. "Now, do you know why your subordinates lost?" Asher asked.

"I still can't find one good reason why they did. You only have the upper hand because you aren't up against the real me. If it was my real body, then you would be on your knees begging for mercy." The Demon King replied.

"You guys don't ever learn do you?" Asher asked with a pitiful expression on his face as he stared at the Demon King Azmuth. "You were strong enough to contend with me at one percent of my strength but that's it. You were so strong that your aura shook this infinite space but that's it as well. That will just be your limit."

Azmuth's face became red with anger. "How dare you?!" Asher moved back as Azmuth's aura erupted. The entirety of purgatory was being destroyed by Azmuth's aura.

"He's strong. The scary part is that this is just his apparition and not his real body." Asher said to himself.

"So now you want to acknowledge my strength." Azmuth said as he smiled. "It's too late for you, I shall destroy the entire human world and everything within it."

"Well, that's a first." Asher said smiling. "You've destroyed purgatory but aren't there any backlashes?"

"The beings who live in purgatory are just weak souls and have no way of coming back once they are destroyed. Once purgatory rebuilds itself again, a new set of souls that died will take their places here."

"And just so you know, you will be one of them." Asher said, telling Azmuth his mind and letting him know his intentions.

"The Demon King is eternal. I have lived since the dawn of creation and no one has been able to defeat me or take my place." Azmuth said. "I cannot be killed by a mere human such as yourself."

"If you say so." Asher said as he hit Azmuth's avatar with such force that it disappeared instantly. "I need to get back to bed before anyone barges into my room."
