Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven (A Strange Dream)

Isla descended downstairs in search of the file. She found it in the drawer of the desk and carefully took it, her hands trembling as she searched for the phone number. After a long search, she finally found it. She dialed Daniel's number, and he answered:

- "Hello, who's calling?"

Isla replied, her voice breaking as she cried:

- "It's Isla, the daughter of researcher James. He's in critical condition, and I don't know what to do for him, so I called you."

Daniel responded:

- "I'll be there tomorrow, don't worry. Try to administer first aid to save him until we arrive."

Isla thanked him through her tears:

- "I'll do that right away. Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I just hope you don't take long. I can't stand seeing my father dying in front of me."

She ended the call, reassured by Daniel's words that he wouldn't be delayed. She climbed the stairs to her father's room and sat beside him, trying to help, but he remained unconscious, his breathing slow. This only added to Isla's growing panic, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Fear slowly crept into her heart. Maybe this time, her father wouldn't survive. If that happened, who would she turn to? She would live alone in this world she knew nothing of, except for the island she lived on, with its sea, small forest, and her friend Iris.

Hours passed slowly, dragging on like months. She hadn't eaten, her appetite gone, consumed only by the desire to keep her father alive. She didn't even realize when exhaustion finally overcame her, and she fell asleep in her chair beside him. In her slumber, she dreamt of being in a desolate place, the mist thickening around her, making the surroundings seem eerie and lonely. She could see nothing, and she ran, desperately searching for some light. After a long pursuit, a gleam of light appeared in the distance. She followed it, but the closer she got, the farther it seemed to pull away. Finally, she reached it, only to find her mother, reaching out to her father, before both vanished from her sight.

She woke up to the sound of her father groaning and calling her name. Her heart almost stopped from the sheer terror that flooded over her, enveloping her body entirely. The harsh reality of the dream hit her, and she faced the bitter truth as the image of the dream materialized before her eyes.
