Chapter 121 - Chapter 121

"It's just average, not worth mentioning."

Shinki smiled slightly, waved at everyone, and signaled Nawaki and the little blonde to head back quickly and not wander around before the battle was completely over.

At this time, accidentally stepping on an explosive tag or inhaling the poison from the salamander could be fatal.

No jokes.

The battle was drawing to a close. Without Hanzo, the ninjas of the Rain Village were no match for the Konoha shinobi. With Hanzo's death, the battle became one-sided.

With Nara Shikashin's strategic command, the Konoha ninjas shouted that Hanzo was dead, which broke the will of the Rain Village warriors.

The enemies, now lacking the will to fight, scattered in retreat, and the Konoha ninjas only had to pursue and finish them off.

The sound of fighting grew weaker and more distant.

In a short time, the battle ended, though the camp was still chaotic, and the medical area was bustling with activity as many wounded awaited treatment.

What made matters worse was the number of poisonous salamanders left in the camp, forcing the ninjas to tread carefully and wait for the poison to dissipate. Inhaling it now would be both unlucky and tragic.

Imagine surviving the battle only to be poisoned afterward—no one would want to face such an ironic end.

"It's over."

Nara Shikashin sat down on the ground, disregarding his appearance.

The war that had lasted nearly a year had finally concluded, and the threat from the Rain Village was neutralized.

If Hanzo were still alive, Rain Village might have had a chance to rise again.

But now, that chance was gone.

At least until Akatsuki rose, there would be no hope. Whether the future leaders of Akatsuki would grow strong was still uncertain.

"Senior, can't you at least change your clothes?"

He came over, drenched and mud-streaked, and sat down.

Shinki looked at him in mock disgust.

"Ahem, I'm happy."

Nara Shikashin laughed, "Next, after the wounded rest and the teams return, we can pack up and head back to the village."

"Has the message been sent to the village?"

The news of the war's end was crucial and needed to reach the village immediately.

"It's been sent. The village should receive it by dawn."

Nara Shikashin stood up and smiled, "You've been busy all night. You should rest. I won't disturb you."

"Okay."

Shinki didn't hesitate. Although the war had ended, there was still much work to do. The medical tent was full of new wounded, and as the head medical ninja, Shinki was going to be busy for a while.

Nara Shikashin also had his hands full—coordinating the return of teams, gathering supplies, and organizing the journey back to the village. The sheer number of tasks kept him occupied.

Most challenging was the report and the evaluation of battle merits. Deciding who contributed the most and determining rewards required detailed attention, enough to make Shikashin pull his hair out.

Once completed, the reports would go to the Hokage's office for final approval and stamping.

Troops were sent out to inform returning teams of the battle's conclusion.

"Is the war really over?"

"Can we go home?"

"That's incredible, Lord Shinki is truly powerful!"

"Great, we can go home!"

Even though the news hadn't been officially declared, Hanzo's death was enough to tell everyone that the war in the Land of Rain was over, and they could finally return home.

Ninjas cheered upon hearing the news.

"Is it over?"

Orochimaru removed his raincoat. He had been leading a pursuit team when someone informed him of the war's end.

Hanzo was dead.

"Master Orochimaru, do we continue the pursuit?"

The team looked at him expectantly.

Their eyes spoke of a deep yearning to go home.

"Return to the camp."

With Hanzo dead, the scattered forces of the Rain Village weren't worth the effort of chasing down.

The notified teams quickly returned, and the camp buzzed with questions. When word spread that Shinki had defeated the "demigod" Hanzo with ease, shock was written on everyone's faces.

This was Hanzo, the "demigod"—and he was taken down just like that?

"Shinki always manages to astonish," Orochimaru murmured when he arrived at the medical tent.

"You're back? Where's Jiraiya?" Shinki, busy tending to a patient, didn't even turn around.

"Not sure," Orochimaru said with a sly grin, "Apparently, he rescued three children and has taken them under his wing."

"Three children?"

Shinki's brows furrowed. It couldn't be a coincidence.

Did the butterfly effect of war still lead to the same result?

"What kind of children?" Shinki asked curiously.

Orochimaru leaned against the doorframe, tilted his head, and thought before answering:

"Two boys and a girl. One of the boys seems to have Uzumaki blood, with hair as red as Kushina's."

His tone was vague, but Shinki's mouth twitched.

So even with all these changes, Jiraiya still ended up with Konan, Nagato, and Yahiko.

What Shinki didn't know was that instead of seeking out Jiraiya like in the original timeline, the trio had banded together to find food. It was during this search that they encountered rogue ninjas from Sand Village and were rescued by Jiraiya.

Konan, being the sharpest, realized Jiraiya was kind-hearted and insisted on following him with Nagato and Yahiko, despite Jiraiya's initial protests.

She knew they had no choice—without Jiraiya, survival was uncertain.

Leaving others to the medical checks, Shinki and Orochimaru went to the command center.

"Senior, did Jiraiya's team return?"

Nara Shikashin, still busy, grumbled, "The team is back, but that fool Jiraiya stayed behind to care for those three kids. I think he's lost his mind."
