Pulling up to Diana house, He hopped out of the car and sprinted to the front door, knocking on the door impatiently but twisted the doorknob just as he heard silence from within. To his surprise, the door swung open without resistance. The latch hadn't clicked; Without hesitation, he rushed inside, calling out her name.
"Diana! Diana!" His voice echoed in the hallway as he dashed towards her room. The atmosphere inside was soothingly calm, almost too quiet. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
With every step down the hallway, his heart thudded louder, dread creeping in. He reached her door, shoving the door open, he was met with a scene that confounded him: her room was empty, the bed neatly made, books littered across her desk.
"Diana!" he called again, panic beginning to flutter in his chest "Are you in here?"
He turned on his heel, glancing around as he racked his brain for possibilities. Where could she be? If she wasn't home, why did she called him to come over?
Diego stepped back into the hallway, his mind racing as he followed instinct. "Maybe she's in the backyard." He moved towards the sliding glass door at the end of the corridor, pushing it open with resolve.
Stepping outside, he squinted against the natural light, letting it wash over him.But there was still no sign of her.
"Diana!" he shouted again, desperation lacing his voice.
He walked back through the Hallway then suddenly spotted a figure walking to him
"Diana!" he shouted, his voice echoing in the air. "Where are the bad guys?" His eyes blazed with intensity as he scanned the area, searching for any signs of danger. "Are you hurt?" He rushed towards her, every part of him on alert, ready to confront whatever or whoever had scared her.
"No, I'm fine, Diego," she replied, her voice steady but her eyes betrayed a flicker of fear. "Please, just calm down. They're not here anymore."
Diego's gaze swept over her body, checking for any visible injuries or signs of distress. He breathed a small sigh of relief when he didn't see any bruises or cuts. Still, something in her demeanor felt off; she seemed uneasy, caught between something he could sense but couldn't see.
"See," she said, a hint of a smile slipping through her anxious exterior as she brushed loose strands of hair behind her ears, " You still love me."
Her words hung in the air for a moment, and Diego's eyes widened in disbelief. He stepped back slightly, shaking his head as if trying to shake the fog of confusion from his mind. "Did you fool me?" he demanded, the hurt creeping into his voice. "Did you set this up?"
"What? No!" she gasped, her expression shifting to shock. "I'm serious, Diego. I—"
"You scared the hell out of me with that message! What do you mean, 'you still love me'?" His heart raced not just from the physical ordeal but from the emotional turmoil. "What kind of game are you playing?"
Diana stepped closer, her eyes softening. "I'm not playing a game, I promise. I just wanted to confirm if you still have feelings for me, and it worked" Diana said with a grin.
Diego clenched his fists, the storm brewing inside him. "So, this was just about getting my attention? Stop deceiving yourself, every other person would have done the same thing, And Diana Incase you forgot, it's over between us, remember" Diego uttered with a stern look.
She flinched at his tone, and for a moment,
" Diego,I regret my actions, and I want to make things right" Diana said softly reaching out to touch his face but Diego stepped back shoting her a glare.
Diego ran a hand through his hair, frustration boiling over. "Regret? Did you just say you regret your actions.
"Stop!" Diana interjected, her voice rising just above his. "I didn't mean for it to go this far. I still love you baby"
" Stop with this pretense " Diego shook his head, the hurt evident in his eyes. " You broke what we had"
"Look, I came here because I thought you needed me in a real way. Not like this, please throw away whatever you still have for me, cause it's useless" Diego replied turning to walk away.
When he suddenly felt her tiny hands wrapped around his waist,
" Let's start all over,Diego!" she whispered caressing his chest.
For a moment they stood, with unspoken words.
"Sorry for hurting you Diego,I want you back" she continued
"Please, keep this feelings to yourself Diana" he managed to say pulling her hands away.
"What do you mean by that" Diana muttered stepping closer to him
"It's too late, I'm getting engaged in one week" he replied.
"Engaged, I got rid of Lucia, remember" Diana said with confusion flashing in her eyes.
" My dad found another woman for me, my position at my company is at stake"
"Then, let me get rid of her,I can always get her off the way" Diana responded.
"Don't do anything stupid,I have no feelings for you,I clearly wanted us to be together Diana"
"But you rejected my proposal, all for some absurd reasons,I can't take you back now, it's too late" Diego said finally walking out
Diana stared at his back, her eyes now flashing with annoyance.
"He dared reject me, you are mine, I'll get rid of that woman" she thought with a smirk.
Diana hopped in his car driving off, back there he was so close to accepting here, Diana has always been his first love, but now,he had no control of the situation, his engagement with Megan was already scheduled in one week time,he dare not to mess up,he knew what his father was capable of doing, his father would go to great length to make sure he served his punishment.
Diego phone buzzed, jolting him off his thoughts, he quickly took a glance at the screen.
"Where are you, bring Megan over for lunch" it was a message from his dad
His eyes popped out,as he stared at his screen.
*Shit* he caused slamming his hands on the steering.
How was he going to get through Megan,he picked up his phone then suddenly remembered he didn't had her number.
"Why is this happening" he thought he couldn't let his dad find out they hadn't gone out together
Then suddenly an idea struck him, "Work, she must definitely be at work" he thought reversing the car backward.
