'This is a nice start.'

I stopped before the entrance to the large hall where the meeting was supposed to take place, my gaze landing on the massive double doors.

Although my attention was somewhere else.

I looked away from the floating card which was visible to only me, my head turning to my right where Reid stood. Just like me, his eyes could show his tiredness.

'I would have loved to catch a bit of sleep…tsk.'

I glanced at the knights stationed by the hall entrance and they immediately moved to open the doors.

Broom~

All eyes fell on me and Reid as the door opened, most of which were filled with scorn and a few neutral gaze. I ignored them all, walking straight towards the table at the head of the hall where there was a long row of seats.

Those seats were for the main family, the branch family leaders and the family head, so obviously, there was a seat there for me.

"I'll be waiting, young master." Reid said as he stood at the back of the hall, where the other butlers and assistants were.

As I walked through the passage between the two sides of the hall, I couldn't help but look around. The hall was pretty grand, with pillars decorated in a baroque style and a massive chandelier at the center.

This was also the hall that was used by the Leonis family whenever they had their end of the year ball.

At the head of the hall was a long table and about twelve seats in a straight line behind it, the chair at center of was grander than the rest, with an arched back and an overall larger structure.

It was obvious that this chair belongs to the family head. Beside it, on the right, sat Veronia and beside her, her three children sat in order of their birth.

I walked to the seat at the center and sat down on the seat right next to it, at the left hand.

"What do you think you are doing?" Julien asked. Veronia's eyes were locked on me, the hatred in them was so palpable, it was almost spilling out.

"Do you expect me to sit after the three of you? Why would I do that?"

"That seat is closer to my father than I am! I am the heir, not you!" Julien spat back.

"If my mother was alive, she would be seated where I am and I'll be seated beside her." I stated as a matter of fact.

Actually, I was wrong. If my mother was alive, she would be seated on the right hand side, where Veronia currently was and Veronia and her children would be seated on the left hand side.

Veronia and every other person here knew of this, and I should be the one seated in the right hand as the only child and representative of the first wife of the family head.

But none of them bothered. They instead expect me to seat beside Elyisa, veronia's last born. A position that seating in will be no different than me kissing their feets.

To make matters worse, no one was going to stand up for me, not even the man that calls himself my father. Lord Ashran was a cold man who only valued those with strength.

And since we haven't had a family meeting like this since we, the children, were old enough, hence, no one expected that I would do as I like.

"But she's dead, isn't she?" Edwinn chuckled.

I stared at him, both he and his brother were fools and I couldn't be bothered to argue with them. I knew that my father was too uncaring to bother pursuing me away from this seat and they knew it too, which was why they were so bothered.

But Edwinn had spoken about my mother rudely. I've been disrespected all my life because I was weak, and although I wasn't as strong, I wasn't as weak anymore.

I stared at Edwinn, picturing him to be one of the dead nightcrawlers I had slain in the devil's path.

'He is above them, but just barely.'

"Watch how you talk about my mother, I won't let you off so lightly next time."

Edwinn flinched, then his eyes widened and he gritted his teeth as he glared at me.

"What? Ashamed you were scared of a cripple?" I chuckled but there was no sense of joy in me.

I looked at Julien, maintaining eye contact with him before glancing at veronia.

"You better train your children better, you know as well as I do that you are in my mother's position."

"You insolent…!" Veronia began but I looked away from her. I briefly glanced at the members of the branch families, some of them had their eyes on us and others were busy discussing amongst themselves.

"Esfyn," I murmured,

[Yes, lord Emris?]

"Let's proceed to go through the rest of my rewards."

[Understood, lord Emris.]

I took a glance at my personal card once again before nodding my head.

"Firstly, let's make a flawless healing card. How many achievement points are needed to purchase a healing card?"

[Twenty achievement points, lord Emris…]

"Purchase four healing cards and fuse ten into a flawless healing card. Also, use the evolution card on the third eye awakening card…"

[Understood, lord Emris…]

[Purchasing cards…]

[Fusing cards…..]

Julien watched as Emris stared blankly at the sky, muttering something to himself.

"He must be mad or something…." Edwinn commented from the side. He had a frown on his face, and his body language told that he was still uncomfortable from what happened before.

"That's the only way he would have the guts to threaten me." Edwinn added in a low voice.

"Were you really scared?" Julien asked with narrowed eyes. Although he was still looking at Emris, Edwinn felt a shiver down his spine.

"Of course not. I was just… caught by surprise." he hurriedly defended.

"Good. There's no need to be scared of a cripple." Julien added. He finally looked away from Emris, his eyes concentrated at the large double doors at the end of the hallway.

"Don't worry, you'll soon get your chance to punish him."

Edwinn glanced at Emris, his brows furrowed. He really didn't want to fight someone crippled but he knew that the only thing Julien hated more than Emris, was not having his way.

And refusing his suggestion was no different from pushing him back. So Edwinn replied,

"Yes, brother."

'Wow…. This is quite a lot. I feel like I'm now properly Awakened, or at least I'm just one step away.

I stared at the cards once more, there were three that caught my attention the most!

The flawless healing card, the mind world awakening card and the beast taming scripture.

'With this, I can finally be an imperial censor! And I already know what I want as my first contract beast!'

I was lost in my thoughts, I couldn't wait to use the flawless card on myself to heal my core and properly awaken.

I would have done it right away but I suspected that there would be some kind of phenomenon due to the healing.

"The moment this meeting is over, I'll —"

Broom~

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of the large double doors opening.

All eyes turned to the entrance where the family leaders of the branch families stood, all following behind a single man that looked no older than thirty years.

"It's him…." Someone whispered.

Yes, the family head, my father had finally arrived.
