This is crazy.
Berry stayed rooted on the couch, fiddling with his fingers, feeling anxious and uncertain. He felt like he was going to pass out any moment but he knew he needed to be strong. Enid's brother was going to walk through that door any moment and they would take him to The Preacher.
For some reason, the thought of that happening filled him with fear, made his nerves go crazy but why?. He would finally get the answers he so desperately wanted, he should be happy…but he isn't, something just doesn't feel right.
Enid's voice cut through the turmoil, "I just spoke to my brother, he'll be here within the hour, how are you feeling?"
Berry looked up at her with a wavering gaze, he sighed and nodded slightly, "I'm okay, just feeling a bit of a headache".
"You sure you're alright? You look a bit pale"
"I'm fine"
Enid gave him a small smile, "Okay then, we will be going soon"
"Great"
Caelum
He doesn't know why but his named suddenly popped up in his head. For the past few days he had been trying to forget about the dragon king and focus more on Enid and what she had to tell him. He was succeeding for the most part but every now and then he would remember him and…well…everything about him, it was maddening to say the least, he should be angry at him…but a huge part of him just wanted to forgive him and move on…maybe they could see The Preacher together and discover his powers toge-
Nonsense!
He sighed softly, It's best that I stay away from him for now.
The door of the cabin burst open with a loud noise, Berry flinched on the couch as the energetic human came through, "is it true? Is he here? Enid?! Where is h-" the energetic male that walked through, looking around the house excitedly, suddenly came to a pause when his eyes landed on Berry.
He froze and took in the Rune's features before breaking into a wide smile again, "it's just like The Preacher foretold, the pink haired Rune, the one who will bring salvation" he squealed and carefully walked towards Berry, almost as if he was scared he would disappear.
This must be her brother…complete opposite of her.
He could see the resemblance, they did look like each other, but they were so different in personality.
"Ezra! Stop yelling at Berry" Enid scolded, coming into view and walking towards her brother to pull his ear.
After scolding him, she turned to Berry apologetically, "Erh sorry about that, he tends to get excited, especially when it comes to things about you".
"Now introduce yourself properly, no yelling this time"
"Fine fine" her brother huffed and turned to Berry, "my name is Ezra, I have been looking forward to meet you all this time, I'm so glad you're here! It truly is a dream come true for me, to see you fulfil destiny, to bring the prophesy to pass and t-"
"That's enough! Stop your yapping Ezra! Don't overwhelm him with you big mouth!" Enid yelled, smacking her brother at the back of his head.
He whined and held the stinging spot before glaring at her with a pout,
"whaaaaatttt! I'm just being nice and welcoming and I am glad he is here, I'm just expressing it"
Enid rolled her eyes at his childish tone, "shut up! Okay? Just hush!"
Berry could only sit there and watch as they bickered on, they're definitely siblings, he thought. He looked at Ezra intently, he too did not hold any form of dishonesty or malice in his gaze, in fact, he genuinely looked like he was happy that Berry was there with them. This eased Berry's nerves a bit but he was still on alert.
"You know what enough…Let's just gather ourselves and leave this place, Berry has to see The Preacher as soon as possible"
Ezra nodded, feeling more excited than ever, "the day has finally come".
Berry stood up, feeling a bit dizzy but he managed to steady himself and waited for what they are to do next. Enid and Ezra, walked around the cabin, gathering very little things here and there before they came back him.
"Okay we're ready"
"How long is the journey going to be?" Berry asked softly, still fiddling with his fingers nervously.
Ezra let out a smug expression, "we use portals, don't worry Berry, we will not give you any stress". Enid rolled her eyes at his boastful words but she nodded nonetheless, "yes we will use a portal, we will be there in seconds".
Berry felt his heart drop at what they said, it's happening so fast, is this right? What am I doing again?.
Enid placed a reassuring hand on Berry's shoulder and Ezra offered him a warm smile, "it's gonna be okay".
Berry felt a small sense of relief wash over him, he looked at them and he felt a bit braver, they don't seem too bad, he thought and smiled back, he took in deep breath and gave a nod, "I'm ready, let's go".
"Okaaayyyyy!" Ezra cheered.
Enid fished out a small crystal from the small bag she was carrying, it glowed purple and had a magical aura surrounding it.
She muttered chants and slowly lifted the crystal, the light glowing brighter and brighter, filling the room with bright but soft lights.
Humans can also use magic?
He never knew humans were also wielders of magic, he doesn't remember anything from his past life before becoming a Rune, so he wouldn't know if he had seen it before.
But I'm quite sure humans are not supposed to be able to wield magic, are these two really humans?
His thoughts were distracted and shifted to the light coming together in the middle of the room to form a ball, which was expanding and taking shape of a large circle, it grew until it was bigger than a person just by a bit.
"This is as large as I can make it due to the cramped space in the cabin and we have to go quick, it's a bit unstable" she said hastily, taking Berry's hand.
He sucked in a breath and let them guide him into the portal, he went closer, the bright light overwhelming him and consuming him then…everything went dark.
