"Are you kidding me?! You're not even on the leaderboard!" Gellard screamed, his voice hoarse with desperation.
The green poison spread rapidly across his body, dark veins pulsing beneath his skin. His fingers twitched as he tried to summon the strength to stand, but his body refused to obey.
Carmen remained silent, watching him with an unreadable expression.
Maria, however, sighed and shook her head. "Are you seriously still talking about that?"
She crossed her arms, her gaze sharp. "What does the leaderboard even matter if you couldn't fight?"
Gellard gritted his teeth.
"You—"
"Face it," Maria interrupted. "You probably couldn't even use half your skills properly."
And she was right.
Gellard had been handed an arsenal of skills, but what good would they have been if he couldn't execute them? He had relied on sheer numbers, believing the Keldars' gifts would make him invincible.
