Chapter 1 - Dreams

'Kaeeeelaaaa!'.

Her heart beat quickened trying to block out that eerie sound but to no avail. She thought by now she would have been used to the darkness, the sounds and the creepy presence, but no. Once again she was running. Running so fast she didn't even feel her legs and like every other day she saw the light , she convinced herself 'I'll get there, just a little further' she said while gritting her teeth trying to muster up enough strength to reach the light. Just when she was about to reach it , the presence came again, 'Kaeeeeelaa!' It screamed like a banshee keeping a firm grip on her ankle and dragging her into the darkness again. 'Let go of me!, Let go of me!', she screamed thrashing around, trying to release her ankle from the creature's grip. Pools of tears started forming as she continued thrashing. 'Not again! , please anyone!, save me! please!'. She cried out to anyone that cared to listen but as usual her cries went unheard. Suddenly the entire place started shaking and the creature made a screeching noise almost as if it were almost out of breath 'RUNNNNN,Kaeeelaa, run' , it said dragging out every syllable. 'Run Kaellllaaa finnnnnddd himmmmm, finddd yourrr maa-'

She woke up with a start holding her throbbing head and trying to make sense of what was her dream, more like nightmare. She immediately got off her bed and hurried towards her study table, grabbing her note pad to write down the events of the dream; 'more like nightmare' she said while massaging her temple to try and ease the headache she was feeling at the moment.

Ever since she turned sixteen these dreams have been part of her. In the beginning she chalked them up to being the after effects of shifting but after a year they were still incessant, never ceasing. The weird thing was that she'd remember the smdetails of the dream once she woke up but after a few minutes it began to fade leaving her with a blank mind. It was because of this that she started writing her dreams everyday until it became a habit to write something down everyday. She hoped to find the correlation to these dreams but it was always the same thing over and over again.

As she wrote down the last sentence she asked herself for the hundredth time if she was going insane for as far as she knew no other shifter her age was having repetitive dreams like she was. Getting up from her chair she rushed into the bathroom taking a quick shower and putting on some clothes, as she stared at herself in the mirror the reflection of a girl looked back at her. Her blue eyes, partly blocked by her platinum locks took in her face. She was a pale shifter, it was a given for snow wolves but she was paler than the rest of her kind making her ruby red lips stand out vividly. She gave herself a reassuring smile, picked up her bag and stepped out letting the warm rays of the sun warm her naturally cold body.

Kaela Montgomery was ready to face the day with a breathtaking smile and nothing was going to make her think otherwise regardless of the terrors that plagued her mind
