Chapter 65 - Ch 65:Anor Londo

Sen's Fortress was as much a death trap as it was a fortress. As I stood outside the massive gates with Solaire and the Chosen Undead, I couldn't help but wonder who designed this place. "So, let me guess," I said, turning to Solaire. "The guy who built Blighttown was hired for this too?"

Solaire laughed heartily, his usual optimism shining through. "Sen's Fortress is a test, Arthur. It weeds out the unworthy."

"Yeah, or it's an elaborate way to say 'stay out,'" I muttered, shaking my head.

The fortress greeted us with swinging guillotines and serpent-headed warriors. The Chosen Undead moved with precision, dodging attacks and parrying blows like they'd done it a thousand times before.

"Watch out!" I called, webbing one of the serpent warriors that had lunged at Solaire. With a quick pull, I sent it flying into the wall.

"Impressive as always," Solaire said, brandishing his lightning spear.

"Yeah, well, let's not get cocky. We've got a long way to go."

The Chosen Undead gave a thumbs-up before proceeding, their silent determination as unwavering ever.

Inside the fortress, the sound of rolling boulders echoed through the halls. It was like some cruel game of pinball, with us as the targets.

"Okay, who thought giant boulders were a good idea?" I asked, dodging one as it barreled past.

"Perhaps they were inspired by the trials of the gods," Solaire offered, stepping aside just in time.

"Or they just hated adventurers."

The Chosen Undead gestured for us to follow, leading the way through the gauntlet. I used my webs to slow down troublesome boulders or just punched them it we didn't have time to dodge.

"Nice work!" Solaire said as we reached the next area.

"Thanks. Now let's hope there aren't more of these waiting ahead."

As we climbed higher, the fortress became even more treacherous. Narrow walkways stretched over bottomless pits, with serpent warriors lying in wait.

"Don't look down," I advised, balancing on the ledge.

Solaire, just laughed. "Fear not! The sun watches over us."

"Yeah, well, let's hope it's paying attention."

Two serpent warriors lunged at us from the shadows, but I managed to crush one by throwing small pebble and turning it into a boulder using math. The Chosen Undead followed up with a precise strike, sending the other creature plummeting into the abyss below.

Near the top of the fortress, we encountered lightning-spewing Titanite Demons. These hulking monstrosities were no joke, their attacks capable of decimating even the most skilled warriors, well for this world standards.

"Okay, new plan," I said, dodging a bolt of lightning. "We divide and conquer."

Solaire nodded, charging one of the demons with his lightning spear. The Chosen Undead and I took on the other, using a combination of webbing, math and sword strikes to keep it off balance.

With both demons defeated, their massive forms collapsing into lifeless heaps.

"Another victory for the sun!" Solaire proclaimed, raising his spear triumphantly.

"Yeah, and for not getting fried," I added, wiping sweat from my brow. 'Damn I really need to get proper rest I have been running with minimum sleep for almost 2 weeks.'

At the fortress's peak, the Iron Golem awaited us. The massive construct loomed over the battlefield, its every step shaking the ground.

"This is it," I said, readying Excalibur. "Stay sharp, everyone."

The Chosen Undead charged in first, dodging the golem's massive axe swings with impressive agility. Solaire and I provided support, striking at its legs to destabilize it.

"Focus on its weak points!" I called, webbing the golem's arm to slow its movements while using Math to decrease the dimension of its armour to crush it somewhat.

The Chosen Undead delivered a powerful strike to the golem's ankle, causing it to stagger. Seizing the opportunity, I leaped onto its back and plunged Excalibur into its shoulder, disabling its weapon arm.

With a final coordinated effort, we brought the Iron Golem crashing down. The gateway to Anor Londo activated, bathing the fortress in a golden light.

As we stood before the portal, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. "Well, that was… intense."

Solaire smiled, his enthusiasm undiminished. "The path to the gods is never easy, but it is always worth it."

"Ready for the next chapter?" I asked, turning to my companions.

They both nodded, and together, we stepped through the portal, ready to face whatever Anor Londo had in store.

The golden light of Anor Londo's portal faded as we stepped into the realm of the gods. Towering spires pierced the sky, glowing with an almost ethereal radiance. It was beautiful, but there was no mistaking the heavy tension in the air. Anor Londo was a place of power, history, and deception.

"Magnificent, isn't it?" Solaire's voice brimmed with awe as he gazed at the grand architecture.

"Yeah," I replied, scanning the surroundings. "But something feels… off. Keep your guard up."

The Chosen Undead gave a small nod, prepared for the worst

---

Our arrival wasn't without fanfare. Silver Knights immediately descended upon us, their movements precise and deadly.

"Alright, team," I called out, gripping Excalibur. "Let's do this."

Solaire charged in with his lightning spear in hand. His strikes crackled with energy, forcing the knights to shift their focus. Meanwhile, I used webs to trap a knight's shield arm, giving the Chosen Undead an opening to land a devastating blow.

"Good teamwork!" I shouted as we dispatched the last knight.

"This is only the beginning," Solaire said, his usual optimism tempered by caution.

---

The grand cathedral was our next challenge, and it didn't disappoint. Ornstein, the Dragon Slayer, and Smough, the Executioner, were waiting for us. The room was massive, giving the pair plenty of room to maneuver.

"Two bosses at once. Classic FromSoft," I muttered, readying Excalibur.

The turned battle intense as soon as it started. Ornstein's speed and Smough's overwhelming strength created a deadly combination. Solaire and the Chosen Undead worked together to fight Smough, while I focused on Ornstein.

"Careful!" I shouted as Ornstein's spear narrowly Chosen Undead, his lightning-infused attacks turning more relentless.

Using my webbing, I managed to slow him down, creating openings for counterattacks. Solaire unleashed a powerful lightning spear at Smough, staggering the giant. The Chosen Undead seized the opportunity to strike a finishing blow, bringing Smough to his knees.

With Ornstein enraged, I projected a spear, reinforced it and infused it with mana and pointed it toward him, Ornstein stood there waiting for me to attack so he could parry it, I ran towards him and increased the spear's length mid run driving it through Ornstein.

"Another victory for the sun!" Solaire proclaimed, his helmeted head turning toward me.

"And teamwork," I added with a grin.

---

After the battle, we ascended to meet Gwynevere, the Princess of Sunlight. She welcomed us with open arms, her voice soothing and serene. But something didn't sit right with me.

As she spoke of the gods' will and our purpose, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. I was deep in thought trying to figure out what i was missing until I suddenly remembered.

"She's an illusion," I said, cutting her off mid-sentence.

"What?" Solaire asked, his voice filled with disbelief.

The Chosen Undead gestured toward me, silently urging me to explain.

"Look closer," I said, pointing to the faint distortions around her figure. "This isn't real. It's a projection."

The illusion shimmered and faded, revealing the truth: the gods we sought were long gone, their power diminished and their words a manipulation.

---

The revelation was a blow to Solaire, but it also reignited his determination. "If the gods have fallen, then it is up to us to carry their light," he said, his voice steady.

"That's one way to look at it," I replied, feeling a new respect for the knight.

The Chosen Undead simply nodded, their resolve unshaken.
