Chapter 3 - CHAPTER FOUR

Yesterday, Jude and I shared a profoundly poignant conversation, laden with an unsettling finality. As we strolled toward my hostel, our bond felt unbreakable. Discovering Jude's independence, living in his own apartment near campus, stirred mixed emotions: happiness for his growth and longing for similar freedom.

Jude validated Dad's cautious stance on hostel residency, emphasizing safety concerns for first-year students. "Experience broadens horizons," he assured me, reflecting his maturity. His wise words echoed Dad's philosophy.

Today, Thursday, dawned with renewed urgency. Post-shower, I rushed to complete clearance formalities. The girls departed early, united as ever, their lively chatter fading into the distance. Medical clearance proved tedious, but reunifying with Emmanuel, my long-lost childhood friend, revitalized my spirit. His infectious laughter brightened my gloomy day. Lectures commence next week.

As I dialed Jude's number, our calls miraculously synchronized, sparking hearty laughter. "Where are you?" he asked, concern etched in his voice. "Headed to the library," I replied. "Want company?" Jude agreed enthusiastically, designating the entrance as our meetup point. Our synchronicity amazed us.

Arriving slightly late, delayed by a snack stop, I spotted Jude waiting patiently beside the library entrance. His call checked my location; I waved, visible from afar. Relieved, he smiled warmly, assisting with my bags. We shared a heartfelt hug, entering together.

Post-sign-in, we savored instant coffee and snacks within the cozy cafeteria. Seated in adjacent faculty sections—Linguistics for me, Medical Science for Jude—we prayed, seeking divine guidance, then immersed ourselves in research. Time flew; noon surprised us.

Gathering materials, we signed out. Jude insisted on escorting me, despite the considerable distance. Bidding farewell near my hostel, his charm captivated admiring girls. Exhausted, I retreated upstairs, witnessing lively debates.
