Peggy watched the doctor as he packed up his stuff after treating Lashonda..
"How much is it?," she gibbered, cuz she had no money on her.
"Don't bother miss, I'm the castle doctor and I'm here to attend to cases in the castle. It's free," the doctor assured, beaming at her.
"Really?," Peggy questioned with arched brows.
"Yes," the doctor replied and set out to leave, but a guard suddenly appeared in front of him, constricting him from moving.
"The queen requests your presence," he spoke with a hoarse voice, with his eyes pinned on Peggy.
"Me?," Peggy queried, pointing her index finger at her chest.
The guard didn't bother to say another word to her, he just nodded his head.
"Uhmm..... can I come later? Cuz right now, my sister is sick and she needs to be..."
"Are you saying the queen should wait for you?," the guard grunted.
"Noo, I won't dare," Peggy flustered.
"I was about to leave,"the doctor cooed to the guard.
The guard stared at him for a while before giving way for him to pass.
Peggy gazed sorrowfully at her sister who was lying on the bed of the servant quarters, with her breath steady.
She didn't know why she felt like she was leaving her sister in a place she couldn't find her anymore.
***
"Xander enough!."
That was the first thing Peggy heard immediately when she walked in, she could hear princess Sharaphina yelling.
Maybe they were arguing or something. But she couldn't tell why her presence was needed in a place like this.
She kept wondering as she walked in.
"Greetings your highness," she bowed respectfully.
"You made the king's wine right?," the queen blurted immediately as she laid her eyes on Peggy.
"Yes your majesty," she answered without thinking twice.
"Who paid you to poison the king?," the queen harshly questioned.
"Poison?," Peggy half yelled with arched brows, but she didn't get a response from anyone.
"I didn't poison the king," Peggy added, with a furrowed brow.
"Really? Right now the king is lying in his chamber fighting for his dear life. Listen to me girl, If you look at my eyes you notice that I don't have any patience left.
If you waste one second of my time, I shall do to you what you do not expect," the queen snapped at her.
"I swear on my life, I didn't poison the wine, the wine wasn't poisoned, your majesty," Peggy squealed, with her hands in the air.
"Really," the queen snide. "Bring in the wine."
A servant hurried up to Peggy with a cup of wine, already filled.
"Drink," the queen strictly ordered.
Peggy stared at the cup of wine for a while, knowing fully well that she didn't add anything into it, she swallowed hard and collected the cup from the servant.
"The wine was tested and confirmed that it contains poison," Logan's voice made Peggy pause.
"Nooo, I didn't poison the king's wine, It wasn't me your majesty," Peggy cried, getting so afraid of how the case was getting complicated.
"This was the wine you served the king, it was found in the courtyard. Now speak! Who sent you?," Xander yelled, frightening Peggy even more, making her cry.
"No, no. No one sent me. I didn't poison the king's wine, I have no idea why it contains poison?" Peggy wept, falling down on her knees.
"With the way you were about to drink the wine with so much confidence, I sense that you are ready to die for your master, and I don't mind granting you your wish,"the queen spoke with her eyes pinned on Peggy.
"Please your majesty, I have no master," Peggy cried with her head bowed to the ground kneeling down.
"I don't think she has a master, maybe she came here with the motive to kill the king. Cuz she only started walking here when her sister was arrested," Saraphina voiced, and everyone found sense in what she said.
The head servant and the other servant girl glared at Peggy with disgust.
Peggy just kept shaking her head as tears poured down her eyes.
"I don't think so, someone must have sent her," Xander said, not buying the idea.
"If you had come here to kill the king on your own accord, I'm glad to inform you that this is where you meet your end," the queen said with a deadly look on her face, making Peggy's breath cease.
"Why was your sister arrested?," Logan asked.
"We're girls from the twalla community, we supply fishes to the castle. My father collected an advance payment and I failed to supply the fish.
It was all my fault but my sister chose to take the blame. I just came to look after her cuz of her health. I swear, I didn't have any intention to..."
"Will you shut up!," Xander snapped at her, making her flinch.
She couldn't believe that this was happening to her, and the most painful part was that they weren't listening.
"If you had done it out of anger, kindly speak the truth. Your punishment will be lessened," Logan said, and Saraphina nodded in agreement.
"Logan! Does she look like someone who's ready to admit to her crime? She had committed a mistake and she must pay the penalty. Take her away," the queen ordered.
Immediately two soldiers roughly dragged Peggy away, heading to the dungeon.
"Where's her sister?," the queen asked immediately as they took Peggy away.
"She's still unconscious ," a soldier answered.
"Go to twalla community and get the rest of her family, bring them to me," the queen ordered grimly.
Whenever she was in a mood like this, they all knew how bad things could turn out. She stood up from her seat and walked back into the king's chambers
Saraphina glanced at her brothers one more time before walking out, going into the king's chamber along with her mother.
"Where are you going?," Xander asked Logan who was heading out.
"You can't expect me to sit here all day, I'm not as jobless as you. I'll come to see father later," Logan replied.
He was about to take another step when Xander spat another word.
"Are you going to make more plans on how to silent the girl?."
"Father might have given a rule that I shouldn't lay my hands on you, but if you push me any further you might have one of your bones broken. I don't care what punishment comes with it. Dare me one more time," Logan threatened.
"You speak to me that way. I have all prove that I am your elder brother," Xander yelled, pained on how Logan threatened him.
"You're supposed to be glad that I'm a little patient today. Just one more word Xander, and I'll do to you what you crave for," Logan gruffly said, before he walked out.
"Ahhh," Xander yelled and picked a chair and threw it towards the wall.
"Fool," he yelled, brushing his hand on his hair.
Words can't express how much he hated Logan.
