Chapter 1 - THE BEGINNING.

Temilola, Temitope,Temilolu and Temilade were watching T.V when they heard the horn of David's car. They all rushed out and hugged him. He just returned from Abuja. They were happy to see him. Temilade being the oldest collected the bag from him. "Let me take it from you dad" he said. The five of them entered the house before David spoke. "Lola, please get me water to drink" he instructed. Lola ran very fast and came back with a cup of water in her hand. She handed the cup to David and he drank hastily.

"Where's your mum?" He asked Lade after he had dropped his bag. "She went to get some foodstuffs, she left 30 minutes ago" Lade replied. "Alright" David nodded. He spent some time with the children and they played lots of board games. They were all about to play hide-and-seek when Biola, their mother entered. The children ran to meet her. She was however surprised to see David-her husband. The children collected her bag and ran into their rooms. She moved closer and hugged her husband. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming today?" She questioned.

"Do l have to tell you when l am coming home?" He asked back. Biola sighed. "Okay, what do you want to eat now?" She asked. " Anything would do please" he answered. "Okay, just relax, your food will be ready in no time" she said and headed straight to the kitchen. She was surprised to see Lola and Tope waiting for her. On sighting their mum, they hugged her passionately. "You children, stop acting silly" she said while trying to free herself from the children's grip. They let go minutes later. "We are happy you are here mum, we will be glad to help out around here" Lola, the youngest said.

Lola is seven years old and in grade two, Tope is nine years and in grade four, Lolu is ten years old and in grade five, Lade is twelve years old and in grade eight. Biola disagreed and asked her children to go and play but they refused. After much plead, Biola allowed them help out. Since Lola was young, she was asked to bring out the necessary utensils for cooking whileTope grinded the pepper and tomatoes. Biola prepared rice, stew and meat and began to arrange and dish out the food. Lola and Tope helped out too.

Soon, dinner was served and everyone sat down to eat. After a short prayer was said by David, the whole family began to eat. Lola broke the silence. "Lolu and Lade have the biggest meat and they did not help out in the kitchen". "They are grown Lola, when you are big, l will give you big meats okay?" The mother assured her. "Bigger than Lade's own right?" She asked. "Yes, now eat your food" the mother commanded. She looked at Lade who looked back at her. "I am not a girl mum, don't look at me that way, l didn't force Lolu to come play video games with me" he said. She now faced Lolu. "And what do you have to say?". "Sorry mum, the games were interesting, l couldn't help seeing that Lade would win" Lolu said. David looked up and was not pleased. "Table manner says don't talk while eating". It was then that no one uttered a word until the meal was over. The children spent the rest of the day chatting and playing while the parents also talked and had little fun before they all retired to bed.
