Chapter 171 - Speculation and locking

Following Murong Xuann'er's advice, Xu Que swiftly removed his gloves and leaned forward with a smile, focusing his gaze on Lu Ang.

Bell, seeing that Xu Que had grasped the proper etiquette, felt his suspicions vanish in an instant. After all, many people failed to understand the true customs of their Jewish heritage.

"I heard you're working late tonight?" Bell inquired, feigning curiosity.

"Indeed," Xu Que replied nonchalantly, "I need to forge a batch of weapons tonight. After all, this company has far too many people."

Bell and Lu Ang exchanged a glance, both nodding in silent agreement.

"So, Xu, what do you think of the Skyhunter Corporation?" Lu Ang asked with a smile.

"Average," Xu Que responded, feigning indifference. "And, as you can see from my current situation, if it weren't for that woman, do you really think I would stay here?"

Upon hearing Xu Que's almost candid response, Bell smiled and said, "What if I told you that the Skyhunter Corporation will one day be ours? What would you think?"

Xu Que maintained a casual expression, but internally, a sharp pang of realization struck him. Though he had suspected something, he still didn't know how they planned to execute it.

"Ask him if it's God's will, then subtly inquire why not the Prospect Tower," Murong Xuann'er's voice echoed in his ear.

With a smile, Xu Que asked, "So, this is God's will, is it?"

Lu Ang nodded with a smile. "God has spoken: the Skyhunter Corporation owes us far too much, and we've come to collect."

"Then why not the Prospect International Tower?" Xu Que responded greedily, "After all, many companies are housed there."

"The Prospect Tower will no longer exist," Bell replied with a smile that bordered on a sneer. "Because God has deemed this land too corrupt."

Xu Que was about to probe further when Murong Xuann'er's voice cut through his thoughts: "Enough. If you continue testing them, they'll become suspicious. It's best to act as if you know nothing."

Although Xu Que didn't know what had tipped Murong Xuann'er off, one thing was clear: he had to follow her advice. After all, the Chasfield family was vast and extremely secretive. If he revealed his hand now, he risked not only failing to obtain his objectives but also ruining his entire plan.

"Alright then," Xu Que said with a lecherous grin, "Let's take that woman, Miss Shen, along too."

"Haha!" Bell and Lu Ang both laughed heartily, fully understanding the meaning behind Xu Que's words.

"It's getting late," Bell said with a smile. "We'll meet again the day after tomorrow. There will be a grand fireworks display at the airport!"

Xu Que exchanged handshakes with them, smiling as he saw them off.

---

Some ten minutes later, in the top-floor meeting room of the Skyhunter headquarters, Xu Que and his three companions sat around the table.

"Speak up," Xu Que said, turning his gaze to Murong Xuann'er.

"There's a mole inside the Prospect Tower," Murong Xuann'er said, tapping the table lightly, her brow furrowed in thought. "And there's a mole inside the military as well."

At these words, Xu Que, Shen Mengchu, and Liang Jinyu were all taken aback.

The idea that there was a mole inside the Prospect Tower was no surprise, but Murong Xuann'er's suspicion of the military was something far more sinister.

"Don't look at me like that," Murong Xuann'er said with a shrug. "I'm speaking the truth."

"The military is vast, and we have no solid evidence," Shen Mengchu responded cautiously.

Murong Xuann'er smiled, unfazed. "Mengchu, darling, it's not necessary to pinpoint too many people. The scope isn't as wide as you think. As for the evidence you're looking for, what exactly are you expecting? Do you want to wait until they've blown the tower to bits?"

Murong Xuann'er's words landed like a bomb, leaving the three of them stunned.

"Are you saying they plan to blow up the Prospect International Tower?" Liang Jinyu asked, incredulous.

"Yes," Murong Xuann'er replied with a smile. "The fireworks display at the airport—what does that imply? And remember, they've already said that this land is far too dirty. To generate something with such destructive power, I can't think of anything other than a few special missiles."

"That simplifies things," Shen Mengchu said. "There are very few people who control such weapons within the Magic Capital Military District. I could have Uncle Peng issue a command, and we'd have it in hand."

Murong Xuann'er placed a hand on her forehead, exasperated. "Oh my naive little sister, you're still too innocent. If I'm not mistaken, that weapon has already been taken out, likely under the pretense of a mission or experiment. Why don't you make a call and find out?"

"What do we do then?" Shen Mengchu asked, her concern growing.

"Make the call, but don't ask directly," Murong Xuann'er advised. "With our military ranks, we won't get anywhere. This task is for him now," she added, pointing to Xu Que.

"Tell me how to ask, and I'll follow your lead," Xu Que said.

"Ask who requested a missile test recently, with a timeframe of four days," Murong Xuann'er instructed.

Xu Que nodded, pulling out his phone and dialing the number for Elder Peng.

"Little Xu, do you have good news for me?" Elder Peng asked cheerfully on the other end.

Xu Que had no time for pleasantries and went straight to the point. "Elder Peng, I need to ask you something important. In the next four days, has anyone requested a special missile, one capable of destroying the Prospect International Tower?"

"Hold on, let me check," Elder Peng said, his voice muffled as he rummaged through papers.

The four of them waited anxiously, worried that too many people might have made such requests, making it impossible to narrow it down.

"Little Xu, are you sure you want the four-day timeframe?" Elder Peng asked, looking at the blank report in front of him. "What about last month?"

"Yes, just the past four days, or if necessary, extend it to half a month," Xu Que said, widening the scope.

"Half a month?" Elder Peng sighed in resignation. "That'll disappoint you. Since the dimensional rift appeared, no one has requested such a weapon in the past half month. And even if there were requests, they were all made last month."

A heavy silence fell over the room.

The four of them exchanged confused glances, completely unable to make sense of the situation.

"Little Xu, this thing is mostly sealed now. It's being held by the Second Special Operations Unit, Fang Xiu. If you need it, I can have him pull one out for you."

At those words, Xu Que suddenly felt as though a switch had been flipped inside him. He leapt to his feet.

"Fang Xiu?" Xu Que muttered, as memories of the villa, Ji Boda, Tang Xue, and the underground laboratory came rushing back to him.

Holy shit!

His mind was now racing like an engine, and all the pieces of the puzzle that had once eluded him clicked into place in an instant.

"What's going on with Fang Xiu, the Chief Instructor?" Shen Mengchu asked, puzzled.

Xu Que's expression darkened as he spoke, his voice calm but resolute. "I've figured it out. The mole in the military is Fang Xiu."

"What?" The three women stared at him in disbelief, and even Elder Peng on the other end of the line was completely baffled.

Xu Que didn't explain further, but instead spoke into the phone: "Elder Peng, where is Fang Xiu now?"

"What are you planning to do?" Elder Peng asked quickly.

Xu Que didn't answer. He simply asked, "Do you trust me?"

Elder Peng paused for a moment, then replied, "I trust you, son."

"Good," Xu Que said with a smile. "Then I'll pull out this disaster once and for all."

"Fang Xiu is currently stationed at the northern district's second base," Elder Peng responded.

"Understood. We'll meet soon," Xu Que said, hanging up. He turned to Shen Mengchu. "Let's go. You know him—let's get him."

"Are you sure Fang Xiu is the mole?" Shen Mengchu asked, her voice tinged with doubt.

"My dear sister, don't you see? Even if we're wrong, we still need to act," Murong Xuann'er said with a touch of exasperation.

Xu Que gave Murong Xuann'er a thumbs-up. "A true master of the art of tea."

"Get lost," Murong Xuann'er replied coquettishly. "I'm your benefactor, you know."

Xu Que grinned wryly. Okay, he admitted it—this green tea master was on a whole different level, and he was completely out of his league.
