Chapter 111 - Shen Mengchu's means / tactics, the Diary of the Witness

Just as Xu Que was about to reject the call, Shen Mengchu said, "Let me take the call, you continue explaining the mission plan."

"Alright," Xu Que said without a second thought, handing the phone over to Shen Mengchu.

Shen Mengchu took the phone and swiftly walked outside. She was eager to inquire about the Shen Yin Company. As for Xu Que's personal matters, she paid no attention, for she had a fair understanding of his character.

Once the call connected, Han Xiaoyu's anxious voice rang out again.

"Uncle, uncle, I was wrong! Please, help us!"

"Hello, I'm Shen Mengchu, Chairwoman of Zhatian Corporation," Shen Mengchu said politely. "I just want to confirm—are you sure the people involved are from Shen Yin Corporation?"

Upon hearing Shen Mengchu's voice, Han Xiaoyu was momentarily stunned, but without hesitation, she affirmed their identity.

"Can you record a few videos or audio clips for me?" Shen Mengchu inquired.

"Sister, that's useless. What we're facing now are the retaliatory threats from Shen Yin," Han Xiaoyu responded.

"If you want me to help, you'll need to follow my instructions," Shen Mengchu replied calmly. "I will resolve your immediate crisis."

"Alright, I'll go down right now," Han Xiaoyu said, hanging up quickly and running downstairs.

Shen Mengchu headed back to her office. After reviewing the information on Shen Yin Hunter Corporation, she immediately dialed their number.

"Hello, President Shen," Tu Jiaojiao's voice came through.

"Hello, I would like to ask if the information you submitted is absolutely accurate?"

Tu Jiaojiao paused for a moment, unsure of what Shen Mengchu meant by that.

"May I ask, President Shen, is there a problem with the materials we submitted?" she inquired.

"Your company's capabilities are not in question for now, but there is something that was not mentioned in your materials," Shen Mengchu remarked meaningfully.

Realizing it wasn't an issue of capability, Tu Jiaojiao immediately recalled the events in Cheng Ye's office earlier.

"President Shen, you may have misunderstood. If it was due to an employee's sudden actions, please rest assured, we will provide a satisfactory response."

"Good, then I'll leave it to you," Shen Mengchu said before hanging up.

While neither party had openly discussed certain hidden matters, they both understood that it was a gesture of courtesy.

Not long after, Xu Que's phone rang again. After seeing that it was a video from Han Xiaoyu, she forwarded the two clips to herself.

As she was about to exit the app, she noticed a message from someone named Liang Jinyu.

Curious, Shen Mengchu opened the chat, only to find a brief message about moving into the Jingdian Tower, and nothing else. With a sigh, she closed her phone. She had hoped to discover some secrets, but it was just this short message...

"Liang Jinyu?"

As she was about to forward the video to Tu Jiaojiao, she suddenly recalled a phone call she had received earlier that day. The caller had also been named Liang Jinyu.

"Such a coincidence?"

Just as she was deep in thought, a phone notification snapped her back to attention.

After reading the message from Tu Jiaojiao, Shen Mengchu took Xu Que's phone and sent Han Xiaoyu a quick reply.

As she was about to return to the meeting room, the door swung open, and Xu Que entered.

"All set?" Shen Mengchu asked.

"Yes, everything has been settled," Xu Que replied, sitting across from her.

"I've taken care of things on my end as well," Shen Mengchu smiled and slid a stack of files in front of him. "These are the companies interested in moving into the Jingdian Tower. Take a look."

Seeing the pile of documents, Xu Que felt a headache coming on, but he nodded, knowing he had to handle this task since it was his own suggestion.

"By the way, here's something for you," Xu Que added, sending her a trade request.

After receiving the items, Shen Mengchu looked up. "Did you personally go to the A-level rift?"

Hearing her question, Xu Que had no choice but to explain the situation with spatial stacking. As he spoke and reviewed the documents, Shen Mengchu quickly grasped the situation.

"So, Shen Yin is deliberately targeting easier targets?" she asked.

"That's the norm. It's how survival works in this world," Xu Que replied indifferently, pulling out more company files. "You can consider these. As for Shen Yin, you can make the decision."

After flipping through the files briefly, Shen Mengchu nodded. "By the way, the person you asked me to look after is doing much better mentally, but every night, he still suffers from nightmares."

"That's normal. Just keep an eye on him. If you want him to return to full normalcy, it'll take at least another month," Xu Que said.

"And what's your plan next?"

"I haven't decided yet, but I think I might visit another city," Xu Que replied.

"Should I inform the higher-ups?" Shen Mengchu asked.

"Sure."

After their brief exchange, Xu Que left Shen Mengchu's office, not returning to his own but heading to the rooftop to look through the journals.

He skimmed through the Scavenger's Diary and quickly understood the basics. Aside from documenting the rifts, the rest had little value to him. However, the diary could be useful to Kun Shao and the others, as they were still unfamiliar with the rifts' contents.

Flipping open the "Witness Lu Bokar's Journey Records," Xu Que began reading.

However, the first line of the first page shocked him.

"Stellar Year 5504, Water Month, Akura was subjected to the judgment of the Old Gods. Eight black stone pillars descended from the heavens, and strange phenomena appeared in our minds. Our once peaceful planet suffered nearly 20% casualties overnight. No one knew where the rifts came from, and no one knew why the abominable alien creatures were so powerful."

"I fought back with my family, but unfortunately, my wife and child were killed by these creatures."

"I swear, I will exterminate these damn beasts!"

After reading the first page, Xu Que fell into deep thought...

Was this the descent of the Abyss on the Akura planet?

"Stellar Year 5504, Starry Month. I joined the Akura Counterattack War. It was a brutal battle, and my comrades fell, but I believe we will drive these monsters out of our homeland."

"At dawn, we held our ground against the repulsive alien creatures."

"While we were planning to fortify our defenses, I noticed something strange—my abilities were improving, both strength and speed had doubled."

"I thought it was just me getting stronger, but then I realized my comrades were also growing stronger."

"Although I'm unsure whether this is a blessing or a curse, I know one thing: the time to retaliate has arrived."

Xu Que flipped to the third page in silence. Though he had already figured out the answer from the first page, he was still curious to know how this interdimensional traveler became a witness!

Realizing the third page was more of the same—about the interdimensional warrior leveling up—Xu Que quickly turned to the next page.

The fourth page detailed their encounters in the rift. Although the creatures were different, the overall experience was much the same.

As Xu Que continued flipping through the pages, he understood that the "Heaven's Ranking" in this otherworld was based on the way the planet understood such rankings.

When he reached the last page, however, the content finally changed!
