Chapter 90 - The Demon Clan, devouring from other dimensions, fraught with perils

"Strange, this cry is definitely not that of a goblin!"

Xu Que sprang to his feet, hurrying swiftly towards the depths of the dense forest.

He was quite familiar with the habits of goblins, yet something about this cry felt oddly familiar, though he couldn't quite place it...

Xu Que leapt onto a tree and, lifting his gaze, froze in astonishment!

Demons?

How could demons be here?

Small demons, armed with pitchforks, were impaling the bodies of the goblins and letting out eerie shrieks as they departed.

Eighteen of them!

Staring at the sight, Xu Que remained dazed for some time.

After all, this was merely a B-level dimensional space—how could A-class demons appear here?

He dared not act recklessly, waiting until all the demons had left before cautiously approaching the goblin camp.

There were no survivors; aside from a puddle of blood on the ground, not a single living creature remained!

Xu Que entered a simple tent, casually rummaging through it, but upon finding no backpack, he quickly exited the camp.

He couldn't understand why A-class creatures would appear in a B-class space.

Had the dimensional barrier been breached?

Xu Que couldn't fathom it—he had never heard of A-class interdimensional beings breaking through dimensional walls.

After purchasing a teleportation stone, Xu Que returned to his cultivation spot.

When faced with things he couldn't comprehend, Xu Que never lingered on them. After all, there were too many bizarre mysteries in life, and dwelling on them would lead nowhere. This was a lesson he had learned in his past life.

Just as he was about to continue his cultivation, the haunting cry echoed again from more than 800 meters away.

"Damn it, what is going on?"

Xu Que frowned, perplexed. He couldn't understand what was happening.

Based on the direction of the cry, it was extremely close to the heart of the forest. At this rate, before he could even reach the boss, it was likely the demons would annihilate it first!

"I can't just let this go; otherwise, this B-class space might be locked down by A-class forces!"

What he had initially thought might be a coincidence now seemed far from it. The most plausible explanation was that the dimensional barrier had indeed been breached!

In his past life, he had never heard of demons inhabiting dimensional spaces like those in Hezhou.

Suddenly, Xu Que halted in his tracks as he recalled a rumor!

In his past life, there had been a wildly fantastical post on the internet, full of all sorts of bizarre stories.

There were tales of someone's sister-in-law being abducted by interdimensional beings while plowing a field.

Others claimed to have seen strange lights emanating from the heavens at night.

These were the kinds of topics with no boundaries, completely out of this world.

One of the rumors, however, was about disappearing dimensional spaces.

It wasn't that all dimensional spaces could vanish, but rather a select few, such as the one Xu Que was currently in, which was recorded on the site!

"Dammit, could I really have stumbled upon this by coincidence?"

Xu Que glanced toward the depths of the forest, then thought of the journal in the backpack.

"Forget it, let's take a gamble. Worst-case scenario, I'll just teleport back."

With his mind made up, Xu Que quickened his pace.

In a mere three minutes, he passed by four goblin camps.

As expected, aside from bloodstains on the ground, there was not a single goblin corpse in sight.

"Whoever did this certainly did a damn thorough job!"

Xu Que spat in annoyance before hurrying toward the heart of the forest.

In the center of the dense woods, four elite goblins, grievously wounded, were fiercely resisting three slightly larger demons.

Meanwhile, the goblin boss was engaged in combat with three smaller demons.

Although the super B-class goblin boss vastly outmatched a single A-class demon, facing three A-class demons, its advantage was all but erased.

As the battle raged on, the four injured elite goblins began to show signs of exhaustion.

Xu Que was internally shocked by the brutal spectacle before him.

Demons were formidable creatures, and human warriors tended to avoid them at all costs—after all, they were truly powerful.

If Xu Que intervened now, he would be risking almost certain death.

While observing the battle, his peripheral vision was caught by a tattered backpack in the goblin boss's tent.

"Is that... the backpack from Kamalan?"

Just as Xu Que was about to confirm whether it belonged to Kamalan, the four elite goblins were instantly slain by the three demons.

Watching the goblins fall, Xu Que's lips curled into a smile.

Although he knew that this dimensional space might be beyond his reach now, at least finding something of importance would make the journey worthwhile.

Just as he fantasized about snatching the important item once the demons left, the space suddenly fluctuated violently.

"What's going on?"

Xu Que's expression turned to one of shock, but before long, terror replaced his astonishment!

The goblin boss had been killed, but the space itself was undergoing a dramatic transformation!

Xu Que's eyes widened as he saw a dimensional barrier slowly advancing.

"The space is being devoured!"

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Xu Que's expression darkened. Gripping the teleportation stone in his hand, he focused his gaze on the seemingly Kamalan-owned backpack.

"Whoosh!"

His legs infused with spiritual energy, Xu Que's figure blurred as he shot forward.

"Roh-oh!" One of the demons looked up warily in his direction.

If Xu Que had stayed hidden, they might not have noticed him, but the moment he revealed himself, they were aware of his presence!

As Xu Que dashed toward the camp, two larger demons immediately blocked his path.

"Out of the way!"

Xu Que, fully prepared, swung his sword in a swift, horizontal strike.

A sword aura flashed, and the demons grinned savagely.

"Boom!"

A massive explosion erupted, sending the demons stumbling backward a few steps.

"Damn it!" Xu Que cursed under his breath.

As expected, demon creatures were outrageously strong. His sword strike only managed to knock them back a few steps.

"Yah!"

With a shrill cry, one of the demons signaled the others to seal off all escape routes.

Seeing only one demon in his way, Xu Que couldn't help but feel a little pleased.

He never expected that these demons were actually afraid of him fleeing...

"Sword Control!"

Xu Que poured all his spiritual energy into his sword, rushing towards the direction of the backpack.

The demons, taken aback by his unexpected move, were thrilled to see that their prey hadn't run away but had instead chosen to fight.

"Clang!"

The demon managed to block the sword with a smirk, but the next moment, it froze in shock.

Xu Que swiftly passed close to the demon, darting straight toward the tent.

As soon as Xu Que entered the tent, the demons rushed to seal it.

Seeing that the demons didn't attack him immediately, Xu Que let out a quiet laugh as he retrieved the backpack.

"Goodbye!"

With a wave of his left hand, he crushed the teleportation stone with his right!

In an instant, his figure vanished, and a streak of light shot into the sky, disappearing from the space.

The demons stood dumbfounded, completely unable to comprehend what had just happened.

...

"Buzz!"

A ripple appeared in front of the dimensional rift, and Xu Que appeared before the breach.

Quickly turning around, he fixed his gaze on the rift.

The breach was rapidly shrinking before his eyes.

"So it's true!"

Xu Que squinted his eyes, finally believing that damned post.

As the dimensional rift completely closed, Xu Que felt a pang of discomfort. This time, he hadn't been the one to close the rift, nor was the territory his!

"Well, fortune and misfortune are intertwined. Maybe next time, it'll be my turn to benefit."

As Xu Que reassured himself, a lieutenant jogged over.

"Good day, Mr. Xu Que."

Xu Que turned, smiling awkwardly.

"Here is the documentation you need to sign," the lieutenant said.

Seeing the generous resources listed, Xu Que couldn't help but want to curse, but no matter what, this was his responsibility... and it had been agreed upon in the contract beforehand.

After signing, the lieutenant smiled, shook Xu Que's hand, and signaled for the soldiers to leave.
