Chapter 41 - The Blind Man

A small island.

No wind or rain.

The air is charming.

"Really, why is it such a mess and no one is here? What kind of small town is this? It's so unreasonable."

Kaizen stood on the island, looking at the dilapidated town and desolate streets around him, tilting his head in confusion.

However, as Kaizen walked towards the street, he could smell an unpleasant odor in the air, a faint scent of gunpowder and blood.

"Is this the place that was destroyed by the pirates with the Pointy Beard?"

Kaizen couldn't help but frown, thinking it would have been better if he could have arrived earlier.

"It seems everyone living here must have fled. Alas! It's such a troubled world."

Kaizen sighed sentimentally. For some reason, he had recently become obsessed with sighing.

He looked at the signs in the town to see if he could find a tavern. Maybe there was wine left that hadn't been taken away. If he took the opportunity to have a drink, he wouldn't have to pay.

However, when he reached the end of the town, he didn't find a tavern, but he did find a person.

The man was sitting by a well. He was about 30 years old, with his eyes tightly shut and a trace of blood flowing down. It seemed his eyes had been destroyed not long ago.

His still young face seemed weathered, and painful emotions lingered on it, refusing to leave.

Kaizen had never seen anyone so frustrated with life.

Kaizen walked forward slowly. The man shook sharply, aware someone was approaching, but he didn't say a word.

"Are you a resident of this island?" Kaizen sat on the ground and asked, staring at the man.

The man raised his head, the flesh on his face trembling mechanically, as if irritated and anxious.

Seeing this, Kaizen didn't continue questioning but changed the topic, speaking in an approachable and gentle voice.

"This island is really nice! It's quiet and charming. It looks like a sparkling gem from a distance on the sea. It's a pity there are no people and no wine, so it seems very boring."

Kaizen rested his cheeks in his hands and smiled slightly, as if chatting with the villagers.

"They're all dead, all dead, screams, cries, moans..."

Suddenly, the man held his head as if going mad, speaking random words intermittently, as if he was in purgatory.

"What's wrong with you?" Kaizen wanted to help him.

But as soon as Kaizen stepped forward, the man pulled out a sword from nowhere.

Clang!

A dark and domineering sword energy slashed at Kaizen.

"What the hell!"

The slash was so fast and urgent that Kaizen, who was so close in front of him, couldn't avoid it. In desperation, he crossed his hands in front of him and resisted the sudden blow with his Armament Haki.

Although he resisted the blow, his entire body slid back several meters.

"Hey, hey, hey! This guy is no ordinary person!"

Kaizen looked at the shocking slash marks on the ground, still a little scared. If he had been a little slower, he might be dead.

"You're such an unkind ojisan! You suddenly attacked without even saying hello!"

Kaizen stared at the man not far away with a serious look, ready for another attack at any time.

"He's not dead. I clearly had a murderous intent just now! Why can't I kill someone? Damn it! Don't be merciful anymore, don't be so damn weak anymore! Take your life, pirate!"

The man struggled to stand, holding the sword skillfully. He was undoubtedly a first-class master.

"Why are you talking nonsense? I'm not a pirate!" Kaizen's voice held rare anger.

How many times have people thought of him as a pirate? And now, even a blind man thinks he's a pirate. Is there anything wrong with this?

"Boy, you shouldn't have come back. I won't fall for your tricks again. My next attacks will be full of killing intent!"

The man's voice was hoarse and heart-wrenching, as if he had cried for three days and nights after losing a loved one.

"It seems that the misunderstanding can't be cleared up. Since we can't explain clearly, let's fight! Let our fists do the talking."

Kaizen moved his wrists, looking eager, with an expression that showed he wasn't afraid of anything.

"The tone is firmer than before, but that's it for now. Pay for the blood debt you committed with your life!"

The man looked burly but was extremely fast. One second he was in the same place, the next he flew forward and slashed with his sword.

"I owe others a few Beli and a glass of wine, but I never owe a blood debt!" Kaizen was prepared and answered calmly while punching the speeding blade.

The two attacks collided, sharp sparks scattering in all directions, and the dark Haki spread around them.

The scene exploded like never before.

"Your sword skills are good, ojisan!"

Kaizen couldn't help but admire as he saw that this man, though blind, had precise posture and sword skills.

"Are you underestimating me? Humph! Try this!"

The man thought Kaizen was mocking him. The sword in his hand suddenly became colder, and he swung it with all his strength.

Kaizen didn't want to bear this brute force, so he stepped back. But as soon as he stood firm, an inexplicable gravity hit him.

"What the hell!"

A feeling of powerlessness swept through Kaizen's body, as if he was in deep sea water.

"Gravity Blade, Tiger!" The man roared out his skill.

As soon as Kaizen heard this, he immediately guessed the man's identity.

"This guy is Fujitora in his youth!"

Damn it, was he so strong when he was young? He has hidden it well all these years. I must discuss with him how he did it later.

At this critical moment, Kaizen didn't forget to think jokingly.

At this distracted moment, Kaizen's body was like a piece of cloth, pulled by gravity.

Bang!

Gravity was detonated, and the sound of explosions spread throughout the island.

This was Fujitora's full blow, not a child's play. When the air wave of the explosion reflected on him, he knew it was over.

He slowly put away the sword, his expression not joyful from victory, but instead more sorrowful.

For him now, there was no joy in anything, because he couldn't forgive himself for the mistake he made.

"Too many people have died, now it's my turn!"

Fujitora smiled and sat down, ready to face his fate.

"I think you must have taken the wrong medicine today, or else you lost a bet." Kaizen's sharp figure emerged from the dust, "There is a big problem with your judgment!"

With that, Kaizen opened his eyes wide, and the Conqueror's Haki radiated out, making the entire island seem to tremble.
