Chapter 29 - Enel, Enel from Skypiea

The moonlight shines through the clouds, casting a cautious glow.

A frail figure dragged his tired steps into the house he barely called home.

The door closed with a harsh sound.

He quietly walked to the corner and squatted down, gently patting the dust off his body. His clothes were torn and dirty, but they were the only ones he had.

"Child, did you save me?" Kaizen suddenly asked.

Startled, he turned his head to stare at Kaizen, his eyes showing a natural fear of people.

"Don't look like that. I won't hurt you. It's not interesting," Kaizen said with a gentle expression.

What reassured him wasn't Kaizen's lack of harm, but the particularly thick and gentle voice despite being injured.

He grinned with an innocent smile, so pure it was overwhelming.

"Here!" He took out a pile of food from the cloth bag on his chest and placed it in front of Kaizen, looking inexplicably excited.

"What's your name?" Kaizen asked, looking at his thin face, marked by hardship.

"Enel." He bit his finger and thought for a moment before replying.

"What, Enel...ah, ouch!"

When Kaizen heard the name, he was startled. At the same time, the wound on his back was disturbed, and he couldn't help but shout.

"Enel comes from Skypiea." He patted his chest, pointed to the sky, and said.

That's right, you come from Skypiea, and you will become the "God" of Skypiea in the future, only to be brought down by a fool.

Kaizen thought sadly.

"Your wound looks terrible. You need to eat a lot to recover," Enel said simply.

"You eat it! I just want to look at the night sky above my head now," Kaizen replied calmly. Due to excessive blood loss, he felt weak and lightheaded.

Enel supported his face with his fists and sat next to him, confused, unable to understand what he meant.

The quiet and deep night sky has healing power.

This is something Enel can't figure out, no matter how hard he tries.

"Then watch carefully! But be careful not to die. I heard that the wounded are closest to death."

Enel's innocent words hit Kaizen like morning dew, making him alert and happy.

"Don't worry, I won't die," Kaizen said confidently.

"That's good," Enel seemed to really believe him.

The night around them became gentle, the starry sky twinkled, the wind blew slightly, and the night was truly soothing.

Kaizen never expected to meet the young Enel under such circumstances.

This man called "God" appeared early and left hastily. It seems life didn't give him many opportunities to shine.

Such a proud and arrogant person turned out to be so endearing as a child. Growing up is truly a sharp change.

Early the next morning.

Kaizen recovered well, his arms could move freely, and the wounds on his back began to scab with no signs of infection. Fortunately, he was unlucky.

It would be nice to have some sake, Kaizen thought greedily.

"Are you awake again? This is the second time since last night," Enel appeared in front of Kaizen with his head tilted.

"Yes, I'm awake again," Kaizen said melancholically. To adults, "awake" isn't always a good thing.

If possible, let me continue to live in a daze. This is what a qualified adult would wish for.

"By the way, I am Enel from Skypiea." He repeated, this time with a bit of mischief.

It's not just repeating his name and origin, full of personality, but also a playful morning greeting.

"How did you get the injury on your face?" Kaizen noticed his face was bruised, showing signs of a beating.

"I stole some food, but felt guilty and went to explain at the store. They beat me up."

Enel pointed to his face, not sad at all, and his tone was joyful, as if he had earned a badge of honor.

Kaizen smiled, and Enel couldn't help but laugh too.

Their laughter grew louder, echoing in the shabby house.

"Little beggar, get out of here! I heard you stole from the town. Come out so I can teach you a lesson."

A young voice shouted outside the drafty house.

When Enel heard this voice, he trembled all over, as if hearing a death sentence.

"Stay here and don't make a sound. The person outside is scary." Enel put a finger to his lips, signaling silence.

"Where are you going?" Kaizen asked knowingly as Enel turned to leave.

"I'm going to negotiate with that guy. If it's like this, I'll just get a beating," Enel said matter-of-factly, sniffing confidently.

"Really?" Kaizen stared at him, as if to confirm if he was boasting.

"Don't worry! He'll only beat me, he can't do anything else. Don't forget, I'm Enel, from Skypiea!"

His tone was so stubborn it couldn't be refuted.

Kaizen said no more, and Enel walked out of the house.

"What are you doing? Making excuses?"

When Enel came out, a fat kid at the door pointed at him fiercely.

Several other kids stood next to the fat one, dressed well and looking well-fed, like they did nothing but eat all day.

"Enel, Enel from Skypiea," he said. In truth, it was his way of apologizing.

"What! Who cares about your name or where you're from? Tell me all about your stealing!"

The fat kid shouted impatiently.

"But, Enel comes from Skypiea." In his anxiety, he could only repeat this.

"You idiot!" The fat kid couldn't stand Enel's timid voice and pushed him down.

Enel fell heavily and felt dizzy.

"My dad says someone like you, abandoned by parents, unloved, will end up a pirate!"

The fat kid spoke harshly.

Hearing this, Enel, lying on the ground, shook his head and muttered, "Enel, Enel from Skypiea..."
