Chapter 3: Bai Clan (1)

Knock, knock!

Before I could even ask, Who is it?, the sliding door was pushed open, and a very aged-looking man entered. Although he looked like he shouldn't even be able to walk with how frail he seemed, the light in his eyes was bright, as though he could see right through me.

This person is my father's right-hand man, House Steward Li Bo.

House Steward Li Bo has been with our family for three generations. He is the only person, besides my father, who can enter my room without informing me.

"Young Master, the head has sent me to inform you that the Bai Clan will be arriving tomorrow."

"Okay."

Hearing my bland response, Li Bo looked a little surprised. Even a fool could guess the reason behind the sudden visit of the prestigious Bai Clan.

Seeing his expression, I decided to explain further, as if I'd just come to an understanding, to avoid arousing suspicion.

"I know why the Bai Clan is visiting tomorrow, and don't worry. I'll go along with whatever decision the Family Head makes, and I promise not to cause a scene."

Li Bo's expression softened, and he gently patted my shoulder before leaving.

I stood up and looked around my room, but I didn't dare act as if it was my first time here. Who knows? Someone could be observing me right now. I just sighed and continued looking at the different decorations around the room, so it would seem as if I was reminiscing about my golden days.

Yu Zhong's POV

Yinhe Hollow Village, Yu Family Head's Room

Aerich's thoughts were right.

"Haa... I'm sorry, son. Your father is incompetent."

"Master, I have informed the Young Master about the Bai Clan's visit." Li Bo entered, cupping his hands and bowing slightly.

"Yes, I know. Has there been any response?" Yu Zhong asked.

"No. I've already consulted all the most renowned doctors, both in and beyond Yinhe Hollow Village, but none of them can identify the cause of the Young Master's illness." Li Bo kept his head bowed as he reported to the Family Head.
