Chapter 17; Unintentional exposure
Dr. Luo Tianhua adjusted his glasses as he stood by the large glass windows of the Mu Corporation building. His white coat was a sharp contrast to the dark suit-clad employees bustling past him. He had been Mu Zhenyu's doctor for years, treating his complex condition with a combination of Western methods and his limited knowledge of Chinese medicine.
Today, he was here for a routine checkup and to hand over new medication. But his attention was suddenly drawn to a commotion outside. He saw a young woman swiftly inserting needles into an elderly woman lying unconscious on the ground.
"What's going on out there?" Dr. Luo muttered, stepping closer to the window.
One of the company's guards standing nearby glanced over. "Seems someone fainted, Doctor Luo."
Dr. Luo squinted, his curiosity piqued. At first, he assumed the young woman was just another amateur meddling with Chinese medicine. He grumbled under his breath, ready to storm outside and stop her.
But then he noticed her technique—the precision and speed with which she inserted the needles into specific acupoints.
"Wait a minute... is she using acupuncture to revive heart failure?" Dr. Luo muttered, his voice rising in excitement. "This is no amateur work. Who trained her?"
He stood frozen, watching as the scene unfolded. The young woman's confidence and calm demeanor amazed him. He made a mental note of the acupoints she targeted: Neiguan, Hegu, and Shanzhong. These were vital points in Chinese medicine for reviving heart conditions.
Before he could rush down to speak with her, she disappeared into the crowd like a ghost.
Dr. Luo turned to the guard. "Who was that girl? Did you see where she went?"
The guard shook his head. "No idea, Doctor."
"Useless," Dr. Luo muttered, his excitement giving way to frustration. He turned toward the elevators, determined to have Mu Zhenyu find this mystery woman.

Meanwhile, in his office, Mu Zhenyu was immersed in his work. His sharp features remained calm, but his secretary, Lin Heng, stood nervously by the door, holding a tablet in his hands.
"Come in," Mu Zhenyu said without looking up.
Lin Heng stepped forward cautiously. "Sir, there's something you should see."
Without a word, Mu Zhenyu gestured for him to continue. Lin Heng handed over the tablet, showing a live feed of the incident outside the building.
"Madam seems to have encountered some trouble outside," Lin Heng explained.
Mu Zhenyu's gaze shifted to the screen. The footage showed Li Xinyue skillfully administering acupuncture to the unconscious woman. His eyes darkened slightly, and his fingers tightened around the tablet.
"Who taught her this?" he murmured, more to himself than to Lin Heng.
Lin Heng hesitated. "From her background check, there's no record of medical training, let alone acupuncture."
Mu Zhenyu's lips curved into a faint smirk. "Interesting. She's full of surprises."
After watching the entire incident unfold, Mu Zhenyu returned the tablet to Lin Heng. "Delete the footage. Make sure no one else has access to it."
Lin Heng nodded. "Yes, sir."
As Lin Heng turned to leave, the office door burst open, revealing Dr. Luo Tianhua. His usually calm demeanor was replaced with urgency, and his loud voice echoed through the room.
"Brat! Show me that footage right now!"
Lin Heng blinked in surprise at the outburst but stepped aside when Mu Zhenyu waved him off.
"Doctor Luo, what's the urgency?" Mu Zhenyu asked, leaning back in his chair with a cold expression.
Dr. Luo ignored the tone. "That girl outside—she's a prodigy! I need to know who she is and where she learned acupuncture."
Mu Zhenyu's face remained impassive. "No."
Dr. Luo's eyes widened in disbelief. "No? Do you know what I just witnessed? That kind of skill is rare, even among seasoned practitioners."
"Not my concern," Mu Zhenyu replied coolly, picking up a document from his desk.
Dr. Luo's face turned red with frustration. "If you don't help me find her, I'll stop treating you. How about that?"
Mu Zhenyu didn't even flinch. "Go ahead."
"You—!" Dr. Luo sputtered, ready to throw something at the infuriating man. He slumped into the chair across from Mu Zhenyu's desk, glaring at him. "You're the most ungrateful brat I've ever met."
Mu Zhenyu didn't respond, his attention already back on his work. Dr. Luo grumbled to himself but eventually calmed down, knowing his threats wouldn't work.
"I'll find her myself," Dr. Luo muttered, snatching a glass of water from the desk. "And when I do, I'll personally invite her to work at my hospital."
"Good luck with that," Mu Zhenyu said without looking up.
Dr. Luo slammed the glass down. "You're impossible. Here's your medicine. Make sure you take it, or I'll be back to shove it down your throat."
He stormed out of the office, muttering about "ungrateful brats" and "wasted talent."
---
As the door clicked shut, Mu Zhenyu leaned back in his chair, his thoughts drifting to Li Xinyue. He couldn't deny that she intrigued him more with each passing day.
"She's hiding more than I thought," he murmured, a faint smile playing on his lips. "But we're married, aren't we? Shouldn't we be living together?"
Without hesitation, he picked up his phone and called Lin Heng.
"Pack my clothes and essentials. Move them to Madam's apartment," he instructed.
Lin Heng's voice faltered on the other end. "Sir… did I hear you correctly?"
"Do it," Mu Zhenyu said firmly.
Lin Heng sighed, muttering under his breath about shameless CEOs, but he obeyed.
Mu Zhenyu hung up, his gaze lingering on the city skyline outside his window. "Let's see how long it takes her to figure out what I'm up to."
