Chapter 11 - Trip To Craftanwood

Layla's point of view

I sat comfortably at the back seat of the royal SUV with King David. My whole body was all wrapped up in a maid dresses initiated by inspector Asher and properly done and wore by me.

We had mapped all our plans before we left Moonshine on the 17th day out of 120 days I am supposed to utilize; this is known to only me and nobody else, everyone in the first and second car is well informed of what they are task to do for the mission to be successful.

Antonio, who was in the second SUV with Gavin and Caleb, dressed like a merchant with an earpiece attached to his ears for communication, agreed to our peaceful mission.

Inspector Asher had said that as a wolfless, he has an opportunity to walk free into any place, as the Law guiding the people of Nightshade mountains is that no Werewolf must harm or attack a them when they visit their territory, and the wolfless must also do the same, I now wonder what the wolfless can do to harm a werewolf.

"Giggles."

"Antonio, you must use the intelligence bestow upon you and the freedom your people has among werewolves to ensure you get to Sheila with the royal attire I gave to you; Sheila must put it on and join King David before the maid contest kicks off, then inform her that she must return back to the palace with King David and act as the Queen of Moonshine for the main time to avoid suspicion until everything is resolved." I explained in details, which left a plastered shock in inspector Asher's face.

"What did I just ear? Your majesty, I don't really get you there; you said Sheila must return back to Moonshine with King David to act as the queen; then who are you, your majesty?" Inspector Asher's expressions are filled with a lot of curiousity.

I thought he would never ask, even though I know how intelligent he is, but before I said anything, I changed the direction of my eyes to King David, then he express his trust with a nodd at me, so I opened my right arm and showed the royal mark of Craftanwood to him.

"Asher, do you recognize this moon goddess mark?" I asked, and he packed the car to take a careful look at it.

"No, this can't be; this can't be the same royal mark of Craftanwood; where did you get this mark? Sorry to ask Queen Sheila." He couldn't get his gaze from the moon goddess mark on my arm.

"Inspector Asher, I am Layla, daughter of Alpha George of Craftanwood, and this mission was all about me all along. I am not Sheila, but she's my friend." I revealed to him in a low and calm voice.

He was silent for a few seconds and couldn't say anything; his eyes became dark, and he gazed at me like I was a ghost in the valley of death.

"What!! Layla, oh my, oh my. How could I have ignored the most important piece? I know you weren't dead, but I have searched every city, either alive or dead, and who could have thought you were with King David? Now it's all getting clearer: your speech at the weeding day was actually for you.

"Yes, inspector Asher, she's Layla Adolphus, the only and last heir to the throne of Craftanwood, and to get there she would need all our assistance to apprehend all culprits involved and clear her name." King David finally broke his silence too.

Meanwhile, he wasn't agreeing with my plans before, but when he found it was me, he quickly picked up his phone and dialed the number connected to Antonio's. He personally made sure he got the plan of making sure Sheila met King David before it's too late.

"My Princess...my Queen." Giggles while he called me twice with different titles, and we also busted into a lot of laugters.

"Inspector, she's still my queen, and she's also your princess when she's with us, but for now she's NORA FISHERMAN."

His deep chuckle rumbled, making me smile.

Then he reached to the car key below the steering, and he twisted it downward till it started the car, and he drove off from the spot we had parked, and the Peter SUV car driven by Gavin followed behind us.

We were almost at Craftanwood earlier than expected, but unexpectedly, three blue BMW cars double-crossed us and made our drivers stop.

As Inspector Asher and Gavin sped down the winding forest road, the sleek black SUV hurtled around a sharp curve. Suddenly, a sleek black BMW car swerved into view, mere inches from their bumper.

Asher's reflexes kicked in, and he slammed on the brakes, narrowly avoiding a collision between the car he was driving and the one following behind. The SUV's tires screeched in protest.

"Close call, Asher." In the passenger seat, I and King David spoke under our breath.

"That driver's either reckless or distracted." Asher's eyes locked onto the car, now speeding ahead.

The car's license plate read "Alpha Ryder." Asher's brow furrowed.

We peeped through the glass to see for ourselves too, and eventually it was really his name on the license plate that caught our eyes.

"Yes, it's him; wait, let him come down from his car." King David said and sat patiently at the back seat.

"Isn't that King David's car? I wonder if the queen is also going to participate to be a maid or to cause another trouble at the competition." Alpha Ryder muttered to his head guard.

"Yes, my Lord, it's the same one. Jax, one of his wolves, nodded.

Then he stepped down from his car gently, gracing the tiled road with his silver shoes and white trousers and white shirts, then he raised his tobacco up and puffed out the smoke into the air.

King David held my hand and told me to relax my mind and not come out no matter what happened or whatever I heard them say.

I heeded his warning and sat down in the back seat. Inspector Asher also stepped out of the car with the king.

He smiled as he was walking slowly approaching; he fixed his gaze on King David and Asher standing by the car.

"Mount." He called on his wolves to come out of the three cars.

Meanwhile, Gavin Forestheart and Caleb Moonwalk saw all of them from their door glass, and they quickly rushed out of the car with their teeth grinning and ready to attach whoever came right at them.

"What do we have here, the whole king of Moonshine, traveling with just two wolves, and you call yourself the Alpha King? Look around me and see for yourself; this is what we mean by being the Alpha King, not an Alpha King with just weaklings as his wolves." He said with a giggle and smoked his tobacco into the air.

But King David ignored him and walked up forward towards him without Gavin and Caleb, then stood tall in front of him with confidence glued to his face.

"A leader isn't chosen the way you thought; a leader is decided by the way you carry you think and provide solutions to every problem. Ever since you became the leader of the Cresendo Pack, mention just one achievement you have made over there. I guess not, Ryder, you can never be the king of Moonshine, not in this life, never, even in your dream." King David threw mean words at him and smiled away from him, then he left his spot back to his car.

"Where is your destroyer of good ceremony, Queen, King David?" or is she contending to be a maid to the same people she destroyed their wedding day with her stupid speech? I would be so glad if she's among." He expressed his anger through his questions to King David all of a sudden.

I could see King David's blue eyes plastered with rage as he turned back to attack Alpha Ryder, then I quickly put on my black mask and the royal attire, which was meant for Sheila to cover up the maid costume I wore for the competition.

"Calm down, my King; he doesn't worth your anger, at least not now." I whispered into his ears as I heard his hand tightly.

"Boys, see your so-called King of Moonshine; he is controlled by a mere woman; is that a good thing? What a fool King David is; he deserves no respect since he can stop so low to marry his own maid."

"SLAP!"

All of a sudden I was overshadowed by anger, so I landed a crisp, sharp crack on Alpha's face unexpectedly. His wolves shape-shifted and charged at me, and then Gavin also shape-shifted into a large werewolf with his teeth ready to torn flesh.
