Chapter 2 - New inventions

Lu Wei was spending his time quite well these days. The novel was gradually evolving into a slice-of-life story, so here's something to move the plot along a bit.

Lu Wei had reached his limit. He had crafted enough knives to last at least five years, and now he was ready to create some unique weapons. His creativity knew no bounds. After years of research and countless trials and errors, he unveiled his latest creation to the market, and it quickly sold out as soon as it became available to the public.

Eager to gauge the market's reaction, he intentionally kept his stock limited, but he now understood what the market desired. It was a knife, indeed, but it also doubled as a spatula. This unique tool would bring ease to people's lives. It was not just something they wanted; it was something they needed.

After the success of the "spnife" (spatula + knife = spnife), he began experimenting with other inventions. He created shovels that could also function as hoes and rakes that doubled as sickles. He developed new tools—perhaps better described as weapons—that had never existed in the village before, such as fencing tools, garden tools, and horseshoes.

With each success, he gained popularity in the village for making the villagers' lives easier. Purchasing multifunctional tools also saved them money.

Initially, the first settlers of this village referred to it as "Inside the Jungle" village, a name that was certainly unique. Over time, however, the name evolved, and it became known simply as Woods Village. People were unsure how the name "Inside the Jungle" transformed into "Woods."

In the center of the village stood a larger-than-average house, home to the village head. His name was Jin Tao. He was an elderly man, around 60 to 70 years old, and he was quite adept at managing the village. He had learned the ropes from his father, the previous village head, and had been overseeing the village since his teenage years—meaning he had held the position for over 50 years.

Jin Tao was preparing to visit Liang Chen's forge to assess the situation there. The forge's products had become increasingly popular, and he had heard that Lu Xiang's son was responsible for creating the items that were now the bestsellers in the village. Curious about Lu Wei, Jin Tao decided to pay a visit to the forge.
