Chapter 4 - The Thief

Aliana's POV

"I promise you, I can explain." I said to him as he drew closer to me, he didn't look like he was going to hurt me physically or anything but my subconscious was judging me. It was screaming louder and louder.

"Then enlighten me, what was happening." He said in a low tone and I was apprehensive. My head still hurt from the hangover and I still needed the thorough soak but nothing prepared me for something even worse, something even more life changing.

"I just needed to get out and return to my hotel…." I trailed off, I didn't have any sensible argument, it was blank in my head and I was feeling like I could go crazy.

I had kept a clean sheet all my life with only a track record of running off with the love of my life only to be caught stealing after a night of casual sex. It really did take a few hours or seconds for one's life to change.

"Explain this," he muttered as he reached into my brassieres and brought out the rumpled dollar note. I gasped when his hands touched my skin but I picked up my act and looked at him like I didn't just put it there a few minutes ago.

"I'm so so sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I am not a thief I assure you, it is just a foolish move on my end." I cried but he didn't look like he wanted to hear or understand what I had to say.

"Did you wake up and dress up before me?" He asked and I was close to tears, he had not broken a glare, his face was humorless and his dark eyes were penetrating, almost like he could see and hear all I had planned to do.

I didn't say anything and he held my head up to meet his gaze.

He looked like a Norse god, his body was chiseled and his face was almost perfect, in any other situation it would have endeared me but then, it scared me.

"Answer me when I speak to you." He ordered and I shook my head.

"Yes I did,"

"Did you see my wallet and pick it up?" He asked me again and I was so close to tears that it scared me.

"Yes, I did but.."

"Don't say anything other than what I ask you." He grounded and I knew I was done. He wasn't going to let me off so easily. "Did you see my wallet, and did you pick it up?"

"Yes, I did." I muttered, my eyes already brimming with tears.

"Did you open my wallet and pick money from there?" He asked me again, forcing my eyes to be level with his as he asked, I knew I was done. I had crossed the line and I was probably going to pay for it.

"Yes I did but I'm so sorry, I didn't know how to ask you and I already told you I was stranded." I all but cried but his gaze remained hard, making me apprehensive.

Was this how my fate was going to turn out to be?

"You're stranded in a strange land means you don't know where to go from here, you have no reliable contact. You're basically lost and your first instinct was to sleep with me for money, I mean that's fine. But you wanted to be sly and steal from me, it breaks my heart." He finished and I stared at him, all hope already gone.

It was the longest sentence I have ever heard him say.

"I am really so sorry," I whispered and he said nothing as he led me to the bed and sat me down there.

He stood in front of me and dressed up, slowly and steadily taking his time as much as he wanted.

"What is my fate now?" I asked him, whimpering a little.

He did his button up and turned to look at me.

"I hold you hostage." He said this with so much certainty that I began to doubt the whole essence of my life.

"I don't understand," I said and I stood up, tucked his shirt into his trouser and stood up straighter.

"You said you are lost. I have kidnapped you and I'm going to hold you hostage until I have reasons to let you go, if not, I will hand you over to the police, show them surveillance tape and have you locked up." He said and I couldn't believe him, I couldn't believe he meant that.

"You can't be serious, I mean, I will find a way to repay you but definitely not that." I pleaded and calculated how fast it would take me to reach the door and out of the apartment.

"I mean it, and you can try…." I didn't wait for him to finish before I dashed for the partially opened door, I wasn't half way out before I was carried back in by two heavy looking men, both had dark shades on.

I knew I had triple fucked up, he was a 'dangerous man', of course he would have body guards. I knew it was over for me and I didn't bother to say anything as I was placed on the bed next to him.

The man didn't move, he just ran his hand through his hair and finally, he turned to face the guards. "Thank you,"

"Are you ready to follow me now?" He asked me and I wanted to cry, hot burning tears because I was in a great fix.

I said nothing as I nibbled on my finger nails, I was scared.

The guards stayed a few feet away from us as we left the hotel room, I didn't know where I was going or where he was taking me but I did know I was in the greatest of all fixes.

I had thought my fiancée cheating on me before our wedding was the fix of the season but it wasn't, it was me being taken away by an alleged dangerous man.

We passed by the bar and he stopped suddenly, I paused too, I was literally following his lead and I had no plans of trying to escape any more. .

"The bills on me. All of it," he announced and one of the body guards walked off and he continued on. I followed closely and it was almost like I couldn't feel my leg or head.

We stepped out to the opening and he was still not giving me the light of the day. I was scared, really, really scared.

I winced as the sunlight poured into my eyes and I felt my skin crawl, my head felt light but I kept on going.

The bodyguard was still beside me.

I paused all of a sudden as my head felt lighter and odd enough, he noticed.

"Are you okay?" He asked me and I couldn't get to answer the question before I felt the floor disappear from my legs, I saw black….
