"Boring!"
"Everything is so boring!!!" I says with a grumbling voice as I drag myself to my first day of college.
Though what's the point of everything being boring when you failed at everything? Ah- my introduction, Kim… Mugen. That is my name though I don't like it, it sound weird and it just doesn't fit me…
As a kid, I always failed at everything I do, though every time I fail my parents would always cheer me up, telling me that it's okay and as long as I have fun, it doesn't matter, but…
What if they just said that out of pity? Though I wouldn't blame them…
"Their son is such a failure."
"How I'm glad my son isn't like him."
"His parents must've had high expectations for him to give him a name like that."
My parents are weird, they give me two different word name in their original language. 'Kim' mean gold in Korea while 'Mugen' mean infinite in Japanese. They decided to combine the two thus how my name came to be.
I heard many other parents called me [The Golden Child With Infinite Potential.] then followed up with, "The only potential he could reach is to always stay a failure."
Because of this, other parents didn't let their kids to hang out with me, luckily I didn't mind because I stumbled upon novels to read.
I'm getting sidetracked. What used to be a fun and interesting place to explore as a kid is now dull and remote, it isnt exciting as it was as a kid.
I walk passed by a liabary that haven't change in years, some new books do get shipped here sometime but it's just a bother to read it.
A park that still haven't fixed the broken streets, the playground is also a lethal place to play in, all of the equipments are either old and rusty or just broken.
This may be my first day of college but the path haven't change at all, in fact my life haven't change at all, it's just repetitive.
Wake up, get ready, to go school, eat, and sleep. What's the fun in that, now imagine doing that everyday…
"Nothing interesting, just the same old stuff… I wish something interesting were to happen!"
A mysterious dark figure started to appear in the dark alleyway just as Kim was getting close to it, the mysterious figure appear abruptly.
Wearing a hoodie, and a jean, both of the clothes color were black. He had his hood up which make it hard for Kim to see his face clearly.
"Something interesting you say?" The mysterious figure says, his voice was distorted and raspy. Apparently he have heard what Kim just said a second ago.
The sudden question startled Kim, this make him jumped a little as he took a step back.
The mysterious man started speaking to Kim out of nowhere.
Kim stares at him for a bit in confusion, after a moment he told the man.
"Sorry sir, but I have to go to college-"
The mysterious man interrupted what Kim was about to say. His face couldn't been seen but his eyes have a bit of light to it.
"Here kid, let me tell you an interesting story…."
Before Kim could refuse to listen to the man's story, he began to speak.
[There once was a man who found an empty blank book on the street… he looked around to see who the owner might be but to his shock, there was no one around him. The man believing nothing bad would happen, pick up the book to see what it's about. Seeing as the cover of the book is empty, the man didn't think much of it and decided to open up the book but once he opened up the book to its first page… the man simply disappeared.]
The mysterious man decided to stop talking for a moment… almost like he was building up to something, Kim rolled his eye thinking he was just a crazy person, he tried to excuse himself but the man suddenly shout out.
"AND I SAW HIM DISAPPEAR IN FRONT OF MY VERY OWN EYES!!!"
Because of the mysterious man's sudden yelling, it startled Kim.
"Just what is this man talking about? Is he crazy?" Kim thought.
"Sorry sir but I have to go!"
Kim after saying that sped up but not until he got out of the mysterious man's sight, he heard the man say…
"Don't go picking up any empty book now…"
After hearing that, Kim looked over his shoulder to look at the mysterious man, but the man was already long gone…. as if he was never there in the first place.
Kim thought to himself, "What a weird interaction…"
"Is it normal for people to tell strangers random stories?" Kim was confused by the interaction.
"surely not, right?" Trying to piece together what he just had witnessed.
Kim didn't realize it but he was late to college, due to the realization of being late, Kim begins to run.
Kim didn't believe that a stranger's story would ever make him late even if he didn't want to listen to it…
"Why didn't I just leave while that man was talking?" Kim questioned himself.
The same question repeats in his minds over and over again.
Kim while running to his first day of college sees an empty book lying on the ground.
Kim ran past the empty book…
A second later he begins to backstep to where the book is…
"Strange, there seems to be an empty book here, no cover, nothing…"
Kim thought to himself "— That strange man's story..." He paused for a bit, putting his hand under his chin.
"Could it be real?" Kim shooks his head while letting out a few chuckles, he doubt the man's story was even real.
"No way right? Like why would it be?" He jokely shrugged.
"I should probably leave the book alone and go to school as I am super late by now…"
Kim began to run in the direction of his school… a second later he came back.
"I just want to be curious huh? I mean— I'm already late so a little peak won't hurt…right?" Kim thought to himself,
"A stranger story's can't be real… like there's no actual way right?" Kim says as he talks to himself, his voice was hesitant and scared.
Kim breathe in and out, took two deep breath before reaching out his hand to grab the book: Upon his hand getting closer to the book, he felt a strange presence looking at him, he brush it off. When he picked up the book, he felt the strange presence growing stronger.
Kim looks around, but there was no one around him, shocked by the sudden realization that he was the only one here in this area.
Kim asks himself, "Am-am I going, crazy?!?" Shaking his head, Kim reassures himself that he is not going crazy…
"If only I haven't listened to that stranger's story" Kim says talking to himself.
Kim let out a long sighed and says, "I'm only going to open up the book for a quick second and put it back to where I find it…"
Kim stares at the book.
Kim was hesitant but slowly gives himself enough courage to open up the book… sweat beads down to his chin.
"…"
Freezing half way before turning to the first page, Kim shouted out,
"SCREW IT!"
Opening the book to its first page.
The first page… seemed to be a vast opened land, full of grass and corn field, where the grass was long enough to be compare to a fence, where even breeze could be felt through the page… the sun shined the entire land.
Kim is not imagining, the first page of the book is "MOVING?!?!?!"
"I-i must be going crazy…. like this isn't normal right?" Before Kim could do anything else after opening the book.
The book suddenly fell…. nobody was near the empty cover book.
The empty book lies there, not an inch has moved from the spot where it had been found…
The mysterious figure stands over the empty cover book,
"Must I say that… it's always those who believe life is boring always experiencing the most fulfilling moment imaginable before they even realize it…" he said with a grinned.
The mysterious figure picked up the empty cover book and started walking away…
Kim as he knows it…. transported into the book.
He looked around, "This isn't the road to school…" Kim thought.
He panickedly began to look around while shouting out,
"JUST WHERE AM I?!?!?!?!??"
