As I walk through the halls of my new school I receive strange looks wherever I pass. When I finally reach my classroom the bell has already rung but the teacher isn't there yet. I sigh in relief as I step inside the room but I freeze the next second as my senses are flooded with 2 intoxicating scents.
I stiffly turn my head and my eyes land on a set of twins sitting in the back row of the classroom staring at me as they stand up.
"Oh hell no!" I say darting out of the classroom as fast as I can. I run at a full sprint through the hallways and I jump over the stair railing to get to the ground floor. I can hear the sound of footsteps behind me as I run so I speed up as fast as I can as I bolta out the door to the school. I take a deep breath of fresh air as I run. I can still hear my mates chasing after me so I don't slow even a little bit.
"Why are you running?" The twin with black hair asks as they chase me.
"I don't know!" I yell back still running at full speed.
"Then why don't you stop?" The brunette twin asks clearly out of breath.
"Because this is fun. If you can't catch me today I'll reject you btw." I say playfully.
"You wouldn't dare." The guy with black hair says speeding up.
"Not happening." I say dodging as he tries to grab me.
"What's your name?" He asks curiously.
"Nala Lionheart." I answer looking at him with a playful smile. We're almost the same speed.
"My name is Jake Grayson and my brother is Jack." He says and I glance back at the brunette casually only to see him sweating as he tries to chase after us.
"Your brother has horrible stamina." I say with a mocking grin.
"He makes up for it with his face." Jake says in amusement.
"You only say that because you have the same face." I say playfully.
"You caught me." He says with an amused chuckle.
"Alright, I'm done running." I say starting to slow down till I stop completely.
Jake stops right beside me and we both wait patiently for Jack to catch up.
"Y-you guys... Huff huff.... Are so... Huff.... Fast!" Says Jack as he stops beside us.
"Nala Lionheart. Nice to meet you mate." I say with a cheeky smile.
"Nice my ass." He grumbles making me giggle.
"You really need to work out more." Jake says teasingly as he looks at his brothers pathetic appearance.
"You couldn't even keep up. How embarrassing." I say heartlessly.
"I tried my best." Jack whines pitifully.
"I'll forgive you on account of your cute face." I say squishing his cheeks. In fact there is nothing cute looking about the 6 foot something Alpha standing before me but in my eyes he's as cute as a kitten.
"Does that mean you think I'm cute too?" Jake asks dumbfounded.
"Nope. He's cute and your sexy." I say bluntly.
"Whatever you say Nala." Jack says rolling his eye as I pinch his cheeks.
"Are you done yet?" Jake asks in clear annoyance.
"No but i can stop if you want." I say turning my head to glance at Jake as I slowly move my hands off of Jacks face.
"We should probably get back to school." Jack says looking at the time on his watch.
"I'll just skip today." I say casually.
"Why?" Jake asks looking at me in confusion.
"It's nothing." I say with a smile as my body starts tingling. I wince as I feel a pinching feeling on my back making my mates look at me in concern.
"Are you alright Nala?" They ask in unison.
"I-I'm fine. Just...just get as far away as you can." I say between gritted teeth as a stabbing pain spreads over my entire body. I knew this would happen the moment I saw them. I was just hoping I had some time to run first.
"No. We won't leave you here alone." Jake says worriedly.
"I-I don't want to hurt you." I choke out as my eyes flash blood red. I can see the surprise on my mates faces when they see my eyes change color.
My body collapses to the ground.
"I said that you would stay in my memories but you showed up today just to ruin things. I tried to put you in the past cause I'm traumatized but you're not even letting me do that much? Please don't ruin this for me. Please don't make it harder than it already is." I groan out as laughter fills my head. The sweet child-like laughter makes my body shake as I remember the past.
'Didn't you miss me even a little." The childish voice echos in my head.
I scream in pain as my body changes shape. My long black hair turns a glittering silver, my smooth white skin gets covered in strange scales, my perfectly manicured nails grow longer and sharper like claws. The skin on my back rips open and a pair of black feathered wings pop out. A tail grows from the base of my back, it's thin and long with a red heart at the end. My ears are replaced by soft, flexible, fin-like pieces of skin but I can still hear everything through them. Finally my fengs extend and peek out from my mouth.
"Whoa." I hear Jake and Jack say in unison.
"Leave me alone Nora." I say through gritted teeth.
'But it's fun." She says playfully as another peal of laughter fills my mind and my control over my body weakens.
"We had a deal. You promised!" I shout painfully as I hold my head in agony.
'We did have a deal. Hmm... How about we change a few things. I want a new deal. You have two choices. Either give up your body from sunset to sunrise or give me back my own body.' Nora says in a flirtatious voice that doesn't match the words she says.
"That's not fair to me." I say quitely. I'm losing the strength in my body and I don't know how long I can stay conscious. If I pass out I don't know what she'll do with my body.
"What's going on?" Jake asks placing a hand on my upper back.
The moment my skin makes contact with his I snap awake fully and Nora loses the little control she had. I still look like her but I'm still in complete control of my body.
"I can't tell you but it's dangerous. It's the real reason I ran when I saw you guys." I explain weakly. I'm in pain and I can hardly stand at this point. The only thing keeping me awake is the knowledge that Nora will hurt people if she gets out.
That is unless she gets what she wants. She's not really a bad person. She has always been kind but she's strong and it scared people. She was born with her own power along with half of mine. As a result my father feared her and sealed her soul inside of my body while locking hers away so she could never escape. He thought he was the one keeping her trapped but it was really me. I made a deal with her.
She would leave me alone until dad dies. At that time I would release her so she could become a wondering spirit. She didn't want to hurt anyone but then that happened.
I met a strange woman. She dressed I all black with long flowing hair. She hid her face but her eyes were as white as paper.
She took Nora from me. I don't know what she did to my sister but when she came back she was different. Stronger. She even became hungry for human flesh. Not to eat but to tear. She had a strong disire for killing. Like an addiction.
After that I had no choice but to complete seal her. We couldn't talk nor could she see what I see. It took a lot of mental strength to keep her locked away but the moment I smelled my mates my strength weakened and she was able to break out.
Having a mate is a strength and a weakness.
