Chapter 2 - Different Worlds [1]

Tokuda Hajime, a student who attends an average school in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan was nervous about his first day going into his second year of High school. His dreams were filled with nightmares of what could happen. But, before he knew it, his alarm started going off.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

It was time for him to wake up. All he did was roll his eyes to see the alarm flashing the numbers on it in red.

But, he had to hear an unpleasant voice he didn't want to hear in the morning. It was his sister.

"Tokuda! Wake up, you need to make it to school on time for once!"

Tokuda disliked his older sister, about nineteen. They lived with their mother. But when they were both younger, they shared a strong bond that lasted for years until something ended it.

"Tokuda!"

Tokuda slowly grew annoyed.

She kept shouting his name, even though he was awake.

"Okay! I'm up damn it!"

He flung from his lying position to standing from his bed.

Creek!

He looked at himself in the mirror, thinking of how odd his sister was being. It wasn't like her at all to really care for him. Rather, she would be picking on him or doing other things to annoy the hell out of him.

When has she actually cared to wake me up for school? It's been a long time since I got up for school. It still hurts to think about the past. That's why I haven't gone to school since then.

He got up from his bed and started reminiscing on memories of his past experience with school. Tokuda had issues in the past, and many of those problems led to him not going to school for two years.

I might as well go to the bathroom and get ready before it's too late. I've got around an hour to get to my school somehow.

Tokuda was determined to go to school. But, the thought of even going still haunted him.

"School."

That was the only thing on his mind.

***

Tokuda went to the front of his house to find his shoes. To his surprise, he had left them there overnight.

"That's where I left my shoes, I completely forgot about them outside. Good thing it didn't rain." Tokuda muttered to himself.

At that moment his mother came into the same area he was at, she saw him grabbing his shoes. At the time, she had been intoxicated and was having trouble speaking and focusing.

"Are you leaving for school?"

Tokuda looked over to see her leaning towards the counter asking him a question. He felt bothered because he knew that she was intoxicated and that she had been doing it for weeks. "Mom... are you doing okay?"

She glanced back at Tokuda, then started drooling and shortly fell asleep at the dinner table.

"Yeah, work's been a pain. I'll probably see you after school. Augh."

He looked at her while she fell asleep with total disgust written all over his face.

Why do I even ask how she's doing? It's always the same answer every time. My sister's the favorite so I don't get any type of love from her. What disgusts me is that she doesn't hide her daily, heavy drinking.

But, Tokuda then starts feeling bad, memories of him and his mother and sister flow back from when he was younger.

He shed a tear, he had wished that times like that could've stayed the same for longer.

I miss those times, and the whole reason those memories got torn down was because of my deadbeat father. He left my mother sister and me behind for stupid work. When he left my mom, she started shifting towards what she is now.

He then took a deep breath and tried focusing on his main task of the day.

"School... I need to go!"

Wait a second... I don't have the slightest clue of getting there!

Tokuda took a minute to brainstorm ideas on how to get to his destination before the bell rang at the school for the entrance ceremony.

"Hold on, I think my phone can tell me..." Tokuda muttered to himself while pulling out his phone from his right pocket.

The Ginza Line takes me directly to school, and the train is also close to my house. It's only a five-minute walk, I should get on it then!

Now with directions, Tokuda heads off towards the train station to arrive at his new school.

***

Tokuda got to the train station after running, he was out of breath and his ribs felt sore.

I finally got here, I'm totally out of energy after running here. I didn't think it was going to be a tough run since some accident happened on the way here.

He looked for his platform, then sat on a bench near where the train would arrive.

A few girls near his bench were chattering about an album that had been released a few days ago.

"Did you listen to Mina's new album!"

"Yeah, her songs 'Live' and 'Ritusko' are so good! I was listening to it all morning!"

Tokuda noticed the emblem on their clothing that showed the same school he was attending.

Those girls have the same logo on them, I wonder if they're a third year.

But, his observation was interrupted by a mysterious voice that had the voice of a girl who had muttered something odd. When she spoke, the area surrounding Tokuda had appeared to be stopped in time. Every sound that was apparent went into a silent with a distortion effect, all colors turned into a grayscale type of color as well. This was something Tokuda had never experienced in his life.

"Don't let this reality deceive you... Hiro."

Tokuda's eyes widen, he can't do anything but just listen.

But then, all the colors came back and time started flowing again.

What just happened to me?

And... Who the hell is Hiro?
