Chapter 10 - Mother and Son Argument

"…you've grown up," said Hera as she checked Hephaestus from head to toe.

"No thanks to you," sneered Hephaestus as his eyes flickered with a low burning fire. "What do you want?"

"… to invite you back to Olympus," answered Hera with a guilty look.

"A disfigured offspring is not worth your time yet it seems a god is?" Chuckled Hephaestus darkly.

"I thought you didn't survive," Hera tried to justify. "I sent my maidens to go looking for you but they never found anything. I just assumed you perished."

"A convenient assumption for you I assume. One that could let you hide the fact that gave birth to a monster," snorted Hephaestus as he waved his hand. "Leave. I do not wish to speak with you any further."

"Do not be so hasty. Come to Olympus with me. I'll be better this time."

"You should've been better the first time."

"Regardless of how you feel, I am still your mother. Let us rekindle this bond-"

"YOU ARE NO MOTHER OF MINE!" Roared Hephaestus as his metallic-colored hair rose into the air and became a glowing red-white. His eyes erupted with flames as the volcano underneath them started to rumble.

With a frown, Zeus was about to display his power when he decided against it. Involving oneself in family drama was never a pleasant experience.

The last family drama he was involved in resulted in castrating his father…

Zeus gave a glance at Hephaestus and Hera before letting out an involuntary shudder.

Hera furrowed her brows at the volatile reaction Hephaestus showed and started glowing golden in turn.

"You are a result of my parthenogenesis. Without me, you would've never been born."

In response, Hephaestus exploded.

Quite literally.

As an eruption of flame and magma enveloped Hera and sent her crashing through the multiple thick mantle of the earth, Hephaestus chased after her with fire in his eyes.

Watching this, Zeus and Eurynome sighed simultaneously.

"I apologize for my son. He is a bit hot-headed."

"Not at all, Eurynome. It's definitely Hera's petty side manifesting in him. Your beauty is famed even amongst the gods, surely his flaws do not fault your method of mothering."

A slight smirk appeared on Eurynome's face as she waved her hand and summoned a pair of Hephaestus's auto-refilling goblets.

"Have a drink oh king of gods~"

"Gladly my lady."

As the two clinked glasses, Eurynome couldn't help but tease Zeus.

"Won't Lady Hera be bothered by lord Zeus entertaining me instead of helping her?"

Zeus rolled his eyes. "As mother and offspring, any outsiders intervening with their… dispute would suffer an unnecessary loss."

Hearing the explosions on the surface, Eurynome couldn't help but give Zeus a weird look.

"But won't someone get hurt?"

Zeus let out a snort. "The only god that would end up hurt would be that unruly brat of Hera. She might be the goddess of marriage but her prowess in battle is no lesser than any other god. Even Ares, the god of war is powerless before her."

Zeus gave Eurynome a flirtatious look. "Now, of course, I am more powerful. Wouldn't you agree?"

Eurynome gave Zeus a good look from head to toe, and seeing that he was very satisfying to her eye, let out a smirk.

Son, keep that washed-up birth mother of yours distracted a little longer. It's finally time for me to get some action! Fighting!
