Chapter 4 - Chapter 4; House For Memories

Now we switch perspectives to Amanda and Jace. Amanda is still speed walking through the streets. She's heading towards the house of the man who claimed his family was killed by fairies. Jace is racing to catch up to Amanda.

Jace didn't know why she was angry, but there had to be a good reason. He knew Amanda for little over two years now, and she hasn't ever lost her cool in that time. Whatever made her mad was personal.

"I can't believe the slander that man was putting on the fairies. They're one of the most peaceful creatures on Earth. Pacifism is part of their nature." Amanda rants about fairies.

"Why are you so angry about this? Also, that's something you could have mentioned to the squad." Jace yells at her with a concerning tone. He was still too far away to speak normally. Amanda didn't say anything, but stopped walking. She waited until Jace caught back up to her.

"They say that fairies are despicable little monsters. They're wrong, humans are monsters. Fairies are the sweetest and most pure of creatures. There's no way they could have killed someone, and I'm going to prove it. I won't let anyone taint the good name of fairies again." Amanda tells him. Her voice was filled with so much emotion. She gave off expressions of anger, passion, or regret. It was hard to tell, but Jace knew she was coming from a place of pain.

"Do you want to tell me about it?" Jace asks Amanda. She doesn't answer, but she says enough for him. "You don't have to say anything to me, but I'm here if you need to talk." Jace follows up.

"Thank you." Amanda says silently. Her tone was a bit more mellow than a second ago.

"However, you were mighty disrespectful to that man. He just lost his family, and you snapped." Jace lectures her.

"I know, and you're right. The fairies are like my family. I grew up with them, and I just know they wouldn't do that." Amanda says with regret.

"That's why we're here. To figure out the truth, and I bet it have something to do with that." Jace says while pointing at an apartment complex. At first glance it looks like a regular building. Three stories high, windows spaced apart, and a decent size balcony connected to most windows. Due to the space between each window, and their own balconies; it was safe to assume each window belongs to a different apartment.

"What's that on the windows?" Amanda asks while focusing on the complex. Looking closer reveals blood splatter on the windows. There were eight windows and balconies, and seven of them were covered in blood. Some look like the blood hit after the respective person spilled it, some have handprints made of blood, and one of the balconies' window was broken. Blood was dripping off the balcony with the broken window onto the ground.

"It looks like a scene from a horror movie." Jace says shocked, and looking disgusted.

" This can't be the fairies doing, can it?" Amanda was terrified from the sight. She struggled to keep faith in the fairies good nature.

"Don't lose hope yet. Look at that." Jace pointed at a strange symbol glowing on the building.

"What is that?" Amanda asks confused. She takes a second to observe the building. It looks like a weird symbol been painted onto the complexs' wall facing the street. The weird graffiti has a dark light illuminating around it.

"It's a sigil, and it's glowing black." Jace tells her.

"What is that?" Amanda asks again, waiting for a better explanation. Jace roll his eyes,

"My books describe sigils as a symbol infused with magic. Then the sigil will start its effects, but what happens depends on the symbol." Jace explains to her.

"Do I assume the black light means it's being powered by dark magic?" Amanda asks him.

"Yep yep, only thing I can't figure out is the symbol itself. I haven't seen it in any of my studies over the summer." Jace tells her. Amanda took another second to examine the sigil. She made a face as if the sigil looks familiar, and focused on the symbol. She squints her eyes and stares at the magically-infused graffiti wall.

"Wait, this is wingic!" Amanda says as she identify the symbol.

"Sounds like you're saying wing it." Jace tells her.

"Wingic, it's the language of the fairies." Amanda explains back to him.

"Great, do you know what it means?" Jace asks.

"Corruption, it's a taboo. My parents had a list on a scroll as they homeschooled me." Amanda explains.

"So it can't be good." Jace adds on.

"Why would a fairy write this?" Amanda asks.

"Guess the only way to find out more is by going in." Jace tells her. She looks at him and nods her head in agreement. They both put their game face on, and head up to the front door. Woosh.

"Wait, did you hear that?" Amanda asks as she looks around. Woosh. Jace stood in place without saying anything. Woosh, skrr. A golden scroll flew and stopped in front of Jace.

"What's going on?" Amanda asks, confused from the scroll's appearance.

"It's Hermes. Oliver's using his magic for communication." Jace says, as he swipes across the magical scroll. Flop, the scroll opens for Jace to see the message.

Traveling to St. Charles. Local creepy   church. Meet up when thou is able.

"Ok, a church can't be too dangerous. Let's get this done and meet up with them." Jace says as he swipes to close the scroll.

"I hope all goes well for them." Amanda responds. They both proceed to walk up a set of concrete steps. Leading them to the main entrance for the apartment complex. The door was a normal rectangular shape. A sign that reads Main Entrance hangs in the middle of the door on a nail. Despite the goosebumps running up their body; they open the door and step inside.

Amanda and Jace walk into the building that's graffiti with a sigil. They are entering a hostile environment with little knowledge about its occupants. Only know one thing, the sigil is a spell for corruption.

After entering the building, it was easy to identify it as an old apartment complex. The hallway was long, and 3 doors on each side. Some of the doors had rusty door knobs, or were completely broken off their frame. A flight of stairs leading to another level is set on the right.

"Nothing here." Jace said as he closed one door.

"Nada in here." Amanda replied back. "Maybe whoever is here left." She continued.

"No, but you should've." A voice whispers in Amanda's ear.

"What did you just say?" Amanda asked Jace. He just looks at her.

"I didn't say anything." Jace answers her.

"OH, I must be hearing things." Amanda said and shook her head.

"OK, let's check upstairs." Jace says, and they both head upstairs.

Halfway upstairs, they heard fluttering. Flap flap, The sound was comparable to a big bird taking off from ground.

"Damn it!" Amanda muttered out loud.

"What's wrong?" Jace shouted while jumping around. Keeping an eye out for any potential creature appearing out the woodwork.

"Those are fairy wings." Amanda said, sounding troubled.

"Why do you sound sad?" Jace asked her.

"I don't know why they would be here. This place's aura is too dark for any decent fairy to be around. I can only guess they're the ones corrupted."  Amanda said as a few tears streamed down her face. Jace put his hands on Amanda's shoulder,

"We don't know that yet." Jace said to her. Amanda wipes away her tears. They continued to explore the dark hallways of the building. They reached the next floor level where they heard the noise. Then Amanda heard a susurrus in her ear.

"How dare you enter this terrain. Did you not cause us enough trouble? Amanee." The voice whispers to Amanda. Her eyes widened with fright as if she instantly knew who was talking. Jace didn't seem to hear the voice.

"I couldn't do anything. I tried to go back, but it was too late." Amanda yelled back to the voice. Tears streamed down her face.

"Who are you talking to?" Jace said, in an attempt to inquire Amanda for answers. He looked around to see if he could spot anyone, but no one was in view.

He did see an aura begin to shine around Amanda, like light to a solar eclipse. Amanda's began illuminating the hallway, but Jace still didn't see anyone.

"If you were never in the forest, thousands of fairies would still be alive. Does that mean nothing to you?"  The voice says to Amanda.

"I didn't know what was going on." Amanda yelled to defend herself. As she was conflicting with the voice, Jace spots a shadow. The shadow instantly disappears without a trace.

"You should've known. You're not like us. You never wondered how a human like you arrived?"  The voice asked her.

"I was young and you all were fun to be around. I'm sorry that I was so selfish." Amanda says as her voice cracks.

"I should've never saved you. At least you dying with every fairy would've been poetic." The voice says to continue antagonizing Amanda. The light glowing around Amanda began to flicker obsessively, until it suddenly stopped.

"No, this isn't right. I'm going to show them. I promised you." Amanda said with her hands covering her face. The light shone around her again. Just in time to see the shadowy figure jumping at Amanda.

It was a fairy, a creature the same size as a child. The wings were as big as her body. She was gliding through the halls, and aiming for Amanda. Amanda was paralyzed staring at the face of her predator. Not as an expression of terror, but of betrayal.

Before the fairy could reach Amanda, Pow! Jace intercepts by blind siding the fairy. Punching her in the jaw so hard the fairy flew into an apartment door. Crashing into the vacant home.

"One of Miyamoto Musashi's rules, keep your mind clear." Jace said to the panicking Amanda. She still couldn't help but to stare in the fairy's direction. "Are you in there? We don't have time for this." Jace yelled at her, but Amanda still wasn't responding. Wop. Jace slaps her across the face.

   "Ow!" She yelled out.

"You got to pull yourself together." Jace yelled back at her.

"I'm sorry, Lyra." Amanda said while staring past Jace.

"It's OK, ju-; wait a minute. You weren't talking to me. Is the fairy back up?" Jace says as he turns around to see Lyra flying over the now broken door, and mean mugging the hell out of Jace.

"You can save your promises and apologies for a fairy that cares, Amanee. First, I'm going to kill this boy. Then we will finish our reunion." Lyra said to Amanda. She then proceeds to flutter her wings. Jace squares up, and looks to see Amanda frozen.

"It's not her talking. Remember the sigil of corruption?" Jace shouted to Amanda. Hoping she would snap out of this state. "Fuck, alright I can take her one on one." Jace said out loud to himself.

"Who said anything about one on one?  Fairies of a feather flock together." Right on cue, one fairy appeared out . Then two, then three, and quickly fifteen. More Fairies were still coming. Jace and Amanda  found themselves outnumbered.

Jace grabbed Amanda's hand and ran downstairs. Fairies were blocking the doors going outside. Some were rushing out of the rooms. Jace grabbed the door handle to the only door not ajar. It wasn't trying to open at first, but Jace managed to pull it.

He grabs Amanda's hand again and pulls her inside with him. Quickly shutting the door, and blocking it with a couch he found.

"Fuck, pull yourself together. We're going to die by fairies." Jace says, trying to pull Amanda back to her senses.

"I'm sorry Jace. I'll go offer myself to her. She should let you leave." Amanda tells him. She was zoned out again, and wasn't going to listen to reasoning. Noticing this, Wap. Jace slaps her in the face a second time.

"I'm sorry for slapping you, but you're talking crazy. Even if that was true, it wouldn't be an option. We're going to free them, somehow." Jace tells the depressed looking Amanda. After hearing Jace's resolve, Amanda begins to perk back up.

"You're right." Amanda agrees.

"Also, why was that fairy calling you Amanee?" Jace asks curiously.

"It's my name in the fairy heritage." Amanda explains to him.

"You were really living with fairies?" Jace asks out of shock.

"Yes." Amada answers.

"Awesome, but what happened?" Jace asks. Amanda was silent for a second. Thinking on what to say. Then she broke the silence,

"Let me tell you a story."

We are presented with a flashback to when Amanda  was a child. She sat in an open forest with beautiful flowers around her, all radiating with life. She was playing with kids, but not normal children. She was enjoying her company with fairy children.

"Come on Amanee! Let's race to the top of that hill." A young Lyra shouts to the little Amanda. Amanda smiles competitively.

"Ok, but you can't fly too high!" Amanda shouts back at her.

"Fine. Get ready, set…" Lyra says setting the race. Amanda interrupts her,

"Go!"  Amanda shouts as she runs past the frustrated Lyra. Amanda laughs for a few steps, before seeing Lyra glide past her. With Lyra now laughing at a frustrated Amanda.

She would run as long as she could to stay by their side. It was a treacherous goal after the fairies flew in the sky. When Amanda was out of options, she would watch them soar.

Amanda  never felt down for not being able to fly around. Her friends would stick together so she never got lonely. Amanda  would lay in the bright green grass looking up. This way she had a full view of the sky.

It would prove difficult to watch all the fairies fly. Keeping track of the different patterns they would fly in, races they compete in, and keeping a lookout for any planes that might have flown by was a bit much, but worth it.It was routine with Amanda  and her friends, lasting from dusk til dawn.

This would be how Amanda  spent her entire childhood, until one unfaithful day. It was a new day. Amanda  awoke to the sound of the forest like normal. She scarfed down the breakfast her fairy parents had made. A nice fruit salad made of lettuce, apple pieces, cherries, and maple as the dressing. She kissed her parents, and ran out promising to see them later. Not knowing it was a promise she couldn't keep.

Amanda  had walked to the rendezvous to meet up with her friends. They seemed to be running late. Amanda  was standing underneath a tree for hours waiting. Just when Amanda  began to think they had ditched her, she heard noises coming from behind a bush.

Amanda  walked to the bush and was beginning to feel hotter. Smoke arises from behind the scenery. She looks behind the bush to see a wild fire spreading around the forest. It was slowly getting closer to Amanda's location.

"W-what's going on?" Amanda  screamed at the sight of the fire. She was too terrified to move. The fire progresses naturally, and is constantly getting closer to Amanda. She finally got control and was about to run. She turned around too late, fore the fire had surrounded her.

She was standing in the middle of the only patch that has yet to be ablaze. Amanda  had accepted her fate, she thought she was truly done for. As she began to cry, a fairy flew out of the fire. The fairy grabs Amanda  right before the flames could consume her, and continues to glide above the fire.

They soared through the lead filled smoke that was spreading across the forest. Amanda  kept her eyes closed so none of the smoke would get in them. The scenery for her was pitch black for a while, but Amanda  heard plenty.

Amanda  and the mysterious fairy were flying for the longest forty-five seconds. The whole time they heard the screams of innocent fairies, and cries of the wild life.

Amanda  felt a quick sharp burn before they crashed into the hot ground. Amanda  finally opened her eyes to see the fairy was her best friend, Lyra.

"Thank you, but what's going on? How did this fire start?" Amanda  asked, frightened. Lyra laid on the ground unresponsive. Amanda  shook Lyra, but she still didn't do anything. Amanda  turned Lyra over and saw her wings slowly burning to ashes.

"OH no, she's dying. I got to get her somewhere quick." Amanda  picked up Lyra and threw the fairy over her shoulder. Amanda  ran through the rest of the unburnt forest. Hearing something not normal for a forest fire.

Loud POWS  going off in the distance. All scaring the life out of Amanda , but she kept moving for Lyra.

"Amanee, you're saving me? Thank you, but it's hopeless." Lyra said, waking up. Amanda  ignored her and kept moving, crying.

"This is my fault, if I would've never frozen in front of that fire." Amanda  was holding back the urge to cry. She couldn't afford to break down at this moment. Lyra's life depends on Amanda keeping her cool.

"You saved me, and I will return the favor." Amanda exclaimed.

"You can't blame yourself. You're only a child. A fairy dies without their wings, and mines are almost gone." Lyra explained to the desperate Amanda, but Amanda wasn't going to waver.

Walking forward and looking stronger than she was a few minutes ago, Amanda didn't lose hope.

"Don't say that. Your wings stopped burning. I can take you to a human hospital, they can help." Amanda explained to her.

"Not all humans are as accepting as you, Amanee. They won't help, just throw me to the wild. They'll do that with any fairy." Lyra argued back.

"They wouldn't do that, fairies are good." Amanda shouts trying to stay confident.

"Not all humans know about a fairy's nature.I know how you can return the favor. Help prove it to them, show humans not all creatures are bad." Lyra said. Amanda nodded her head.

"We'll show them together". Amanda said as they finally made it out of the forest. She looks around to see grass and open roads. Then she notices Lyra hasn't said anything. She looked at Lyra's head, which was resting on Amanda's shoulder. Lyra was unconscious, causing a sense of urgency to fill Amanda once again.

"Help!" No idea where she was, Amanda decides to run down the right side of the road. A car that happened to be driving was pulled over. A lady stepped out the car,

"OH my goodness, are you ok?" The lady yelled as she ran up to Amanda.

"I'm fine, but she's not." Amanda explained to the lady. However, the lady did not address the fairy.

"Where did you come from?" The lady asks Amanda.

"The forest," she answers the lady.

"Wait, are you the missing child?" The lady said.

"No, I saw my parents this morning. I was just saved from the forest fire." Amanda paused and reality began to set. She cries as she realizes she would no longer be able to see her parents or friends.

"You poor thing. Come with me and we'll find your parents." The lady said to her.

"No,we need to save Lyra!" Amanda responds.

"Ok, just get in the car. Ew, leave that outside." The lady said, and proceeded to knock Lyra from over her shoulder. Then shoves Amanda into the car.

"Wait, no. She needs help." Amanda shouted as the lady shut the door. Amanda tried to force the door open, but wasn't strong enough.

"Everything is fine, it's only a fairy." The lady said as she drove off. Amanda cried as she watched Lyra slowly fade out of her sight.Ending the flashback.

"You're the only one who can change things Amanee."

"Her voice is always echoing in my head." Amanda said while starting to cry.

"How old were you?" Jace asked her.

"Ten in earth years." Amanda answers.

" And you shoulder the blame, but it wasn't your fault." Jace said to reassure her.

"But Lyra..."

"Isn't herself, the sigil corrupted her and the other fairies." Jace interrupts.

"Right, it's hard to remember that. It was probably the sigil that made them attack that man's family as well." Amanda said out loud.

"Most likely." Jace agrees.

" I just wish there was a way to save them." Amanda cries. "Maybe there is." Jace said with an expression that screams PLAN.

The fairies gather around the only door protecting Jace and Amanda. Pow, Pow, Thud, Thud. The fairies threw their little but excessive bodies at the door, knowing it would eventually knock down. While another fairy rams at the door, it opens from the inside; causing the charging fairy to fall through.

"Batter up." Jace steps out swinging a baseball bat that he found inside the apartment. Bam. One fairy is knocked in the face. Bang. Another was bonked over the head. Bow. A third one was hit in the back so hard it dropped to the ground.

"Home run... I could've sworn there were more than three of these fluttering bastards." Jace said while standing over the unconscious fairies.

"Here I was thinking you're a coward just like Amanee." Lyraa said while floating from out a shadowy corner.

"There you are. Where's the rest of your army? Guess they weren't fairy interested in this fight." Jace said, taunting the corrupted fairy.

"You're a masochist I see. I'm not a petty fairy. I'll be happy to fulfill your desire." Lyraa wings started to flutter. Fairies began approaching from the stairs and outside. Soon they surrounded Jace again while he was standing in front of the open apartment door.

All of the fairies were brutally attacking Jace. Slash, slashing him with their claws made from the dark aura. Woosh, woomp. Ram. Some fly ramming into his stomach and face at a high speed. Jace stood his ground, eating the attacks. Leaving him with scars and holding his stomach. Once they believe he was finally close to death,

"Any last words?" Lyraa asked him.

"Actually, yea. Last words are redundant. Amanda is not a coward, and NOW!" Jace yells out. Wmm,Wmm. A light began to shine from within the room. The confused fairies looked inside to see the light radiating from Amanda.

She was holding a bow constructed from light, and pulling back the string. Woop, woop, woop, woop.Jace drops down as a valley of arrows made out of light shot from the bow. An arrow to pierce each corrupted fairy, and Jace. Healing him from the injuries he just sustained, while dark smoke lifts from around the fairies body.

"It's working. How did you know it would work?"Amanda shouted excitedly to Jace.

"Everyone knows darkness is weak against light. I saw that move in a video game and thought it might work here. The risk was on if you could create the bow and arrows, but I'm glad it paid off." Jace explains to Amanda before being interrupted.

"Amanee I'm sorry." Jace and Amanda look around to see Lyraa laying still. The dark shadow that was covering her and the rest of the fairies were gone. However, they weren't left in the healthiest of conditions. Bags were under their eyes, the majority of them were breathing rapidly, and Lyraa wings were gone.

"Don't say anything! We got to get you all healed." Amanda says, running to Lyraa.

"We're not injured, just fatigued from the influence." Lyraa assures her.

"OH thank Iris." Amanda said in relief.

"You got to listen. All your efforts to free us will be useless unless you get rid of the sigil. It has to be destroyed." Lyraa said before closing her eyes. Jace checked her pulse and had a sigh of relief.

"She's only sleeping. How are we going to get rid of the sigil? Don't really have the tools to remove graffiti. I don't even think they would work on magical ones." Jace pondering on their next step.

"Actually, I have a plan." Amanda said with an excited smile. They proceed to run outside. Standing in front of the sigil, Jace asks.

"Wait, is this plan of yours?" Jace was genuinely curious.

"You might want to stand back in case this works." Amanda warns Jace, and he steps back a few feet. Amanda then began to channel her light. It glowed around her as she held out her hands. The light leaves from around Amanda, and starts to dance in the open. Settling into the form of a pirate's cannon. The cannon was shining bright because it's still light.

"Wow" Jace says in shock. Amanda throws her right arm high into the air. Dropping her hand down like a captain yelling,

"FIRE!" KABAAM. A light ball shot at the cursed sigil in rapid speed. The cannonball of light hit the wall, and the side of the building was instantly clean of dirt.

The sigil itself was glowing, but slowly began to fade. As if the light was consuming the very essence of the dark sigil. Once the sigil faded away completely, a dark aura rose from the building. Like dark smoke reaching for the heavens, but dispersing at the clouds.

The rest of the building was now clean. It no longer looked abandoned or unkept. All the fairies flew out the apartment complex. Lining up in front of Amanda and Jace, while still floating in the air.

"Thank you so much stranger. You saved us!" One of the fairies said to them. Jace blushed, as if embarrassed for the praise.

"Wait," Jace says. "Don't you recognize her?" Pointing at Amanda. The fairy turns away, and takes a second to actually look at Amanda. Observing every detail of her, and finally.

"Nope, not a clue." The fairy says all chilant. Jace is shocked, but Amanda begins to laugh. Hahaha. Jace looks at Amanda double shocked, because he doesn't know what's so amusing. Amanda told him she was friends with the fairies. The fairies are here claiming they don't know her.

"It's just like you said Tyraa. You really don't recognize a grown me." Amanda tells the fairy. Tyraa's eyes begin to widen as she recognizes who she's talking to.

"Amanee? Is it really you?" Tyraa asks. The other fairies begin to look amongst each other. With tears filling her eyes, Amanda nodded her head.

"The humans refer to me as Amanda, but it's me." Amanda says tearfully.

"I am sorry about not recognizing you. You were a human child then, and much smaller than now." Tyraa explains to her.

They're moment of shock passed quickly, as they went from confused to excited. The fairies began to dance around Amanda and cheer together. Happy to be rescued, and find a lost friend along the way.

Jace and Amanda take in the sight of the dancing fairies. All of them are expressing joy as they dance with each other. Flying up to the clouds and making cool light patterns. Shapes such as a heart, flower, and trees. Leaving Jace speechless as he enjoys the show, but Amanda starts to realize something.

"WAIT!!! Where's Lyraa's?" Amanda questions everyone. Jace and all the fairies stop in their tracks, and start to look around. No one could spot the absent fairy. Tyraa approaches Amanda,

"I don't think it saved her." Tyraa tells Amanda.

"What do you mean?" Amanda asks.

"We were all saved because we were possessed by the sigils, but Lyraa created the sigils." Tyraa explains to her. Amanda's jaw drops from disbelief.

"No, that can't be true. Lyraa wouldn't do that. She saved me on the day of the fire." Amanda tells Tyraa. Arguing the defense of her friend.

"I'm sorry Amanee, but it's true." A voice says out loud. Then an elderly male fairy made his way out the group.

"Paz Paz? Is that you?" Amanda asks the old fairy.

"Yes, my child. I'm sorry about the conditions of our reunion. After so long, you have returned." Paz Paz says excitedly to Amanda. Amanda pulls him in for a hug.

"I missed you Paz Paz. Where's Maz Maz?" Amanda asks him. Looking around the forest.

"Let's take it one topic at a time." Paz Paz tells her.

"Right. It can't be true. Lyraa didn't really create the sigil, did she?" Amanda asks him.

"She did.Shortly after the fire, we found a new forest to call home. We all thought we lost both of you to that fire. It took four long years, but we managed to make a new place our home. Then Lyraa showed up.Everyone gathered to greet and celebrate her. She didn't come for much conversation. All she said was sorry as a dark light began to glow. I believe she put the sigil on the floor. She just kept moving and using us, while keeping us under the sigil's influence. Two long years, she kept our souls imprisoned. Until you freed us." Paz Paz explains to her. Amanda stood there silent out of shock. Bewildered by the testimony of her Paz Paz. Still refusing to give up on her friend,

"If that's the case, then she would've become a dark elf. She was possessed just like y'all. She even said sorry." Amanda tells them. All the fairies could do was keep their heads down. Letting the silence solidify that their statements are true.

"Sounds like our job isn't done." Jace says to Amanda.

"What do we do?" Amanda wonders out loud. Jace walks up to Amanda and puts his hand on her shoulder. She looks at him,

"We find her, and get her side of the story. Then we'll figure it out from there." Jace tells her. Amanda nods her head agreeing.

"Paz Paz, you said she would move every fairy place to place. How did that work?" Amanda asks him.

"As we would move, Lyraa had sigils placed around the routes to keep us under control. Last place she had us was a creepy ritual ground in this town." Paz Paz tells her.

"Ritual ground? Like a church." Amanda says, thinking out loud.

"Like the church Oliver and the others went to." Jace says, bouncing off of Amanda thoughts.

"I'm willing to bet Lyraa went there too." Amanda tells him.

"Right, we got to go." Jace responds back.

"Ok, but let me say goodbye first." Amanda says.

"I'd expect nothing else." Jace says smiling. Amanda turns towards Paz Paz, Tyraa, and the rest of the fairies.

"Paz Paz and every fairy else, I got to go. We're on a mission, and it's not done yet." Amanda tells them. All the fairy's begin to frown at the news.

"Surely you don't need to go right now. We haven't celebrated your return, or our rescue, or your return leading to our rescuing." Tyraa says to Amanda, as a way of pleading to stay. All the other fairies began agreeing with Tyraa.

"Enough. Even if she were to stay, we don't have anywhere to celebrate. This isn't our village, in case you haven't noticed." Paz Paz yells at all the fairies.

"Right, thank you Paz Paz. Now, every fairy listen up. This whole possession debacle has painted the fairies in even more of a negative light. You have to stay away from humans for a while." Amanda tells them.

"Ok, but when we create a new village, the both of you have to come visit." Paz Paz tells them. All the fairies cheered again for agreement.

"We will Paz Paz. I got to talk to you about something else anyways." Amanda says to Paz Paz.

"What could it be?" The elder fairy asks, but before Amanda could answer. BOOM! A loud noise went off in the distance. Sounding like roaring thunder, but there was no storm.

"Amanda, I saw lighting over there." Jace says pointing to the north. Amanda looks in that direction to see a large hill.

"That's the way we came from." Tyraa tells them.

"If the church is that way, then Oliver might be in trouble." Jace says out loud.

"What about Trell and Reyna?" Amanda asks.

"Oh, them too." Jace says, but not as invested.

"Every fairy, it's time to go. Send a messenger to the Sleighfew academy when you rebuild." Amanda tells them.

"If you're going to the ritual grounds, then you can follow the old sigils. They're graffitied onto the building from there to here. It was the route we took." Paz Paz directs them.

"Ok thank you." Amanda says.

"Great, this will take too long. They're in trouble, and we can't help."  Jace says, sulking over the distance. Every building they could see had the sigil imprinted on a wall. With the buildings traveling at least a mile down the road.

"Hey, if you're not too busy sulking. I think I have a solution." Amanda yells at Jace. He turns around to see a muscle car, constructed out of light. Made into the model of a Grand Prix 2018, Jace's favorite.

"YOU CAN CONSTRUCT VEHICLES OUT OF LIGHT!?!" Jace yells, shocked and impressed. All the fairies around begin to laugh at his reaction, as Amanda smiles at the temporary sight.

"Let's give this baby a test drive, while cleaning up the city." Amanda says. Jace smiles as he hops in the driver seat. "Oh no you don't, I'm driving" Amanda yells at Jace, while kicking him to the passenger seat.

"But you don't even know how to drive." Jace argues.

"Do you want a ride or not?" Amanda asks him. Implying she'll leave him behind.

"Fine, let's go already." Jace tells her in defeat. Amanda jumps into the driver seat and starts up the engine. As they drove off, all the fairies flew behind her.

"Don't forget to stop by the new village." Tyraa says, barely able to keep up with the vehicle.

"As long as you don't forget to send a message to Sleighfew." Amanda says to the fairy. Tyraa stopped following them. Waving her hands as the rest of the fairies catch up to her, and join Tyraa in sending them off. Amanda smiles as she watches them wave in her rear-view mirror. Ready to move forward, Amanda increases the speed of her car, and moves at the speed of light. Jace looks outside in amazement,

"Just hold on a bit longer Ollie. We're on the way." Jace says while looking at the hill.
