Chapter 1 - Chapter 1; The Mission

"Welcome to Sleighfew! We built this academy with one purpose in mind. To teach you, our students, how to kill and conquer the monsters. You are the selected few that can and will survive. Now let me hear your cries of victory!" The man giving the welcome speech was Lt Adam. In front of him was a crowd of two-hundred students. Hyaah! Woo-hoo! All of them gave a hearty battle cry out of excitement.

Inside the overly-excited diverse crowd of students, was one student a bit more brooding than others. He applauded as the crowd gave their loudest battle cries. Jace had a more serious demeanor than his peers.

"Follow me." A sweet and smooth voice whispers into Jaces's ear. A gentle and subtle smile crept on Jace's face as he followed the female.

"I knew you'd get in, but I didn't think you'd be so hasty to bring me to your quarters Amanda." Jace said to the woman. Her response was only to close the door. They wasted no time in embracing each other.

He held her gently while kissing her. She moved her hands up to his chest, and pushed him to the bed. She proceeded to follow him, and they stayed in bed until the sun rose. You know, doing it in bed is fun.

Morning has cometh, and a cock is doodle doing to the sky. A falcon soars through an open window and drops a brick, then turns around to fly out. The loud THUD woke Jace and Amanda from their peaceful slumber. They both popped their heads up to see the brick, with a note tied to it. Amanda rose from the mattress to read the brick's note.

"What does it say?" Jace asked while yawning.

"I've been summoned to the Dean's office." Amanda responded.

"Do they already know about us?" Jace asks while sounding concerned.

"I doubt it, but wouldn't be surprised. I'm part of an "elite" group that meets soon." Amanda put up air quotes when saying elite. Jace stood out of bed wearing nothing but briefs.

"In that case, I must run off to my quarters. I should be receiving one as well." Jace says as he gathers his clothes from the floor.

"OK, I'll see you there." Amanda said while wearing a reserved smile. Jace could tell her smile was forced.

"What's with that smile?" Jace asked, but he couldn't help but to blush.

"Why are you here Jace? You know what they do. What they can do." Amanda asked while sitting on the bed, staring at Jace.

"Where did that come from?" Jace asks, genuinely confused.

"Those people last night think they came here to "learn" how to kill monsters. We know the truth. This isn't a school or academy, it's an army. You know that as well." Amanda responded.

"I will let them use me. I will utilize them in return. Plus you're here. We'll have each other's backs." Jace said while feeling Amanda's face with his palm. He smiled at her as she found it soothing. She embraces his hand for a short moment. Jace kisses her forehead before leaving the room.

Jace reached his room to see his friend standing at the door. Oliver was about to knock before hearing Jace walk up to the door. Step, step, step.

"Where do thou cometh from?" Oliver asks the approaching Jace.

"A friend's quarter. Please don't speak as if we're in a Shakespeare's play." Jace pleads to Oliver.

"I'm shocked thou still know of the arts. One would think thy is brain dead, after all the time spent in that dungeon you called a room." Oliver says to Jace as Jace unlocks the door.

"It's called studying Oliver. Not everyone is born an elite." Jace responds.

"Were thou studying with Amanda last night as well?" Oliver asks while laughing.

"Why are you here Oliver?" Jace has a bit of annoyance in his voice.

"OH yea, would ye like to head for the meeting together?" Oliver asks him.

" Sure, just let me change my clothes." Jace responds before going inside his room and closing the door behind him. Leaving Oliver to stand out in the hallway by himself. Oliver only had to wait a few minutes before Jace stepped back out.

Jace steps out in his brand new uniform. Dark khaki pants, black tennis shoes, a light blue shirt, with a long white T-shirt underneath. The light blue shirt reads "Sleighfew" on the right shoulder corner.

Jace and Oliver head for the meeting at the Dean's office. It was only a short walk throughout campus. As a matter of fact, Dean's office was right across the street from Jace's room.

"First day of slay school. Thy as excited as me?" Oliver asks.

"It doesn't matter if I'm excited, but I am ready." Jace answers.

"Why must thy suck the fun out of everything?" Oliver rambles to himself.

"Your mom had fun sucking everything out of me last night. I was pretty excited about that." Jace tells Oliver. Oliver was salty, but played it off with a laugh. There was no time to start a yo momma war, because they were now at the meet up location.
