My mother raised her head from the ground, her eyes flashing with uncertainty at my words.
I arched an eyebrow, folding my arms in front of my chest. "You heard me. I'm going to meet Phoebe tonight and we're going to discuss this. All of it. If she's willing to let it go, good. But if not?"
I paused, briefly diverting my gaze away from her before continuing. "Well, then, whatever she decides as your fate will be it."
My mother remained kneeling, staring up at me with a despondent look in her eyes.
The sight was heart-wrenching, but I closed my eyes and turned my back to her. I proceeded to walk out of the balcony and left her there.
I stepped out of the suite, my face remaining expressionless as I headed for Phoebe's suite.
A couple of maids walked past me, quickly bowing their heads and greeting me before scurrying away as fast as they could with fear in their eyes.
