Chapter 5 - Bloodline Awakening: Ice Wraith

In the fully occupied streets of the large City of Krebes, the capital of the Valkyrian Province, was an elf girl with long silver hair - some in braided parts and others just flowing down her back. She wore a brown magician's cloak over her gray jacket and a short brown dress and boots to match. The girl's face was evenly symmetrical and she had a strong and sturdy, but slender build. Every part of her could be called beautiful, with her eyes being the main attraction, which were eerily captivating in their own way. Her eyes were a cold icy blue, with snow-white pupils - perfectly matching the evenly cold gaze she wore on her face.

As the elf girl made all types of turns and twists, going on different brick roads, it seemed she finally got to her destination. Set up high on a hill was an enormous castle-like school, which taught everything a creature in Krebes could know. This was the Valkyrian Magic Academy. Its size is comparable to the likes of the Emperor's dwellings.

Once the girl finally walked up the grass-covered hill, she marveled for a second to look at the miraculous scenery in front of her. It seemed as if it came straight out of a painting!

I have been waiting so long for this moment... Mother, Father I hope you are watching! This is the start of the path to my dreams! I will restore our family's former honor and glory you used to boast about to me and Axel!

Indeed this girl was Frasia.

Still standing in her resolution, Frasia did not notice when a duo of 2 walked up behind her. They were both girls but were not the same species. The girl in the front was an elf just like her, except she had short white hair and green and gold eyes. The girl's clothes looked to be normal at first glance, but if one were to offer a second look you could see they were made out of very expensive clothing. The second girl who was silently glaring at Frasia, was a wolf beastkin. She had long black hair and a short tail with two fluffy ears.

This girl's clothing was definitely very expensive. Just from looking at the miniature pink cloak she wore you could tell it had dozens of magical protections engraved on it. The red ruby gem at the front of it bore the crest of a wolf on fire.

"Get out the way, low-blood, can't you see we're trying to get through." The elven girl tried to push Frasia down but did not succeed.

Frasia turned around and was about to retort but saw the crest on the wolf girl's cloak and decided against it. Making trouble with the Fire Hound clan wouldn't be a smart choice. Still, though, I can't just let her provocation go unnoticed. But the bandaged-eye girl definitely seems interesting. I can't read her at all.

With a calm gaze, Frasia stepped up and said in a sarcastic tone "My apologies for not noticing that you were behind me. I would have moved if you had just calmly asked so next time please mind your manners." And with that, she turned around and walked up to the Magic Academy's entrance.

"That peasant bitch! I will definitely be sure to not anger a noblewoman!" Although the elf girl did not bear any crest, she still was a noblewoman whose family had been serving the Fire Hound Clan for centuries. Just as she was about to go catch Frasia her beastkin companion said in a cold tone "That's enough Persephone!"

Immediately, Persephone's whole demeanor changed and she instantly bowed her head and apologized.

Usually, Lady Fiora would have let me blast girls like that who don't know their place. Why didn't she let me teach that bitch some manners?

"Stay away from that one," Fiora commanded her maidservant. "You are definitely stronger than her but she makes me nervous for some reason. Her magic power level is lower than yours, but my eye tells me that if me and her were to battle - I might have some difficulty."

"Yes, my lady!" If her eye is saying even she would have a little bit of difficulty, then that peasant girl must be powerful! I need to tread ca[o-

The eye both those girls mentioned is what's called a magic eye. There are only several hundred magic eyes on the continent and the Fire Hound Clan was one of the only noble families who did not possess one until Fiora was born. Each magic eye has the power to see an opponent's power level, but they also possess an innate ability that is said to have enough potential to be a natural disaster. Fiora's regular eye is grey with black pupils, but her magic eye has never been shown before to the outside world. Even still being covered in bandages to this day! Despite never using it however, she has never lost any battles she fought in, and for this, the people gave her the nickname the "Wolf of Demise". Said to be a gift straight from the Gods, she became the new hope of the clan who is said to lead it to an even brighter future.

"This school will definitely be interesting after all. Come on Persephone." The two then continued their march towards the entrance of the Academy also. But unbeknownst to the three of them, high in the sky a small magic eyeball was watching all of these very events unfold.

In a dark chamber filled with a heavy unbearably powerful pressure, there sat seven people all of different species and genders all around a black long table with wine cups in front of each person. One of the seven on one side of the table was covering his eye and spoke. "Frasia Frost, Persephone Harshine, and Fiora Burns. All fascinating candidates for the school, don't you agree... Headmaster."

"Let us see how all the new stars here will shine brightly for the Sun God." Another one on the opposite side of the man covering his eye spoke too with a much more excited tone. "Headmaster, what do you think?" This one sounded a bit like a fanatic.

Now it was the man at the end of the table's turn to speak, but his mouth never moved. His words just went directly into everybody's brain who was present inside the chamber. All that was heard was five words in a voice that concealed any emotion or tone.

"Glory to the Sun God."

As Frasia stopped at the entrance to the Magic Academy, a human woman dressed in all black with glasses asked her for her name.

"Frasia of the Frost family". " You may go into the testing site. There your magical affinity and power level will be tested and that will determine which classes you will be put in. Wear this bracelet that monitors your heart rate and life force so that we know if you're in any imminent danger." The lady handed Frasia a white bracelet with a small purple jewel in the middle of it with magic inscriptions written on it.

Frasia snapped it on her wrist and started walking along the path to the training site. As she was walking she said a quick prayer to the God of Corruption asking to give her extra strength. When she opened her eyes her mouth gaped at the sight she saw. Tens of thousands of students were all gathered there waiting to be tested. But that wasn't what shocked her, what surprised her was the sheer diversity of the student body. It was Dragonoids, Ogres, Elves, Beastkin, Harpies, Humans, and even Dark Elves! Frasia hadn't seen a dark elf since she was a child visiting the elven village with her parents. After marveling at the different races and species Frasia decided to take a seat near the back of the area. The training site was just a five-foot tall rectangular elevated cement floor, with a transparent barrier around it in the shape of a dome.

While Frasia waited she decided to get some extra rest in and closed her eyes for a quick nap. When she woke up from the grass she saw the lady at the entrance of the academy standing on the cement platform explaining how the test was gonna work.

"This year we will be doing something a little different. Since there are so many of you we do not have the time to test all of you individually. So here at the Academy, we have decided upon doing a four-person battle royale. We will try to do all different elements at a time so that the test results will not just be based on sheer power. I will give you all a few minutes to let this sink in." With a small smirk on her face, the young lady in black vanished into a group of crows that scattered away.

After 10 seconds of complete silence, the crowd erupted into screams of fury, angry at the new test that would be given. Everybody was continuously shouting giving out threats of reporting the school.

I don't really care to be honest. This is a faster way to get the examination done. And it won't make it difference to me, since I will win regardless.

As Frasia still stood there watching the crowd that was very quickly turning into an angry mob, the lady in black suddenly appeared.

"Silence!" If you have any complaints you may leave, because here at the Valkyrian Magic Academy, we do NOT need failures." At that, the crowd went deathly quiet.

"Now let us proceed with the exam." The first three names the lady called out Frasia did not recognize, but the last name she recognized a little too much! "... Frasia Frost. Now all of you take your places on each side of the platform. When I say the word you can start your altercations." The woman then disappeared off of the stage into crows again.

"START" The voice came from nowhere but everybody heard it. Frasia still surprised that her name was even called to be one of the first participants was a little dazed but still battle-ready. Suddenly a stray fireball from the battle of the 3 other participants flew towards Frasia. She swiftly dodged by side-stepping it and quickly went serious.

"I need to get back home so let's end this now." She said in a voice as loud as possible so all the other participants could hear her.

Just as she was about to cast her first spell her vision completely turned black and she was not in the battle royale anymore. In the dark space, she heard the voice that always makes her enlivened. As fast as possible she fell to both knees with her head on the ground.

"Thank you for divine encounter O Great Lord of Corruption! I am so glad you decided to let me be in your presence once again!" Her eyes were on the brink of tears she was so happy. For every time the Great Lord would appear, it reminded her that he chose her to save and she was eternally grateful for that. After a few seconds, she finally heard it!

"You have done well with your sacrifices every day. Now I will bestow upon you a gift."

Hearing this, Frasia was visibly excited that her God had prepared something special just for her. As she waited she felt something crawl on her and then seep into her skin. Once her appearance was completely covered in black liquid her vision cleared and she was back at the royale in the same instance as she left. But her eyes were different. They were no longer the icy blue from before. Her irises had turned a blood red, and her pupils had become an all-encompassing black, that seemed to consume you if you looked for too long.

"Let's see if she can use my power to its full potential"

Frasia immediately felt a change within the deepest parts of her soul, her magic had undergone a transformation, and it seemed to have evolved. And she even knows new spells that she did not know before! A Bloodline Power!

Thank you, Lord of Corruption, I dedicate this victory to you.

Finally, Frasia started reciting the spell that she felt the great Lord of Corruption would like the most. In dedication to her God, she her emotions stirred as this battle was the stage and this spell was the performance she would put on! As she began to chant, the clouds darkened and lightning started to surge within them. Strong winds started to blow and it appeared as if a hurricane was about to strike.

"From the deepest pits of my soul, I command this Ice to heed my command. Take shape and wipe out all of my enemies! Ice Magic: Dark Elemental Storm!" As she finished chanting hundreds of ice shards began to form beneath the clouds, and every time lightning struck they seemed to increase in size. After only ten seconds they were each the size of an adult man.

Using up every last bit of her magic power, Frasia gave it her all for this spell. "Now Strike!" All of the ice shards started rotating into mini vortex inside of the clouds. Then, a bolt of lightning struck the vortex and sent it crashing into the platform in a beam of wind, ice, and lightning. As it struck the surface of the platform, everything became instantly frozen on it. All three of the people fighting with Frasia were struck and frozen in place, where even just a strong gust of wind could cause them to crack and shatter. Everyone from the crowd watched in shock as Frasia froze the entire platform.

The crowd fell into stunned silence, their collective breath caught in their throats, as the platform shimmered, its surface now encased in a layer of ice that glinted with an unnatural brilliance. The edges of the platform seemed to pulse with cold, an eerie blue glow spreading out like veins, creeping across the floor in slow, deliberate waves.

For a moment, no one moved. The students stood frozen in place, eyes wide, mouths hanging open in shock. Then came the murmurs—low, stunned whispers that swirled through the crowd like a breeze picking up speed.

"How is this possible!", someone whispered, "That's at least... l- level four Magic!". A collection of whispers immediately surged all laced with awe, confusion, and even a little bit of suspicion. "How did she do that?"

Looking from Frasia's vision, Oliver became impressed at how well she used the power he gave her.

I only gave her a fraction of my essence, yet she could cause an area the size of a football field to completely freeze over! It seems me evolving her into an Ice Wraith was the correct choice. Although she'll gradually lose all her emotions as she uses this power, it is definitely worth it. Plus, with this, her children will now have a powerful bloodline to cling to. What originally was my pawn might evolve into a powerful queen before I know it.
