"I'm working late at the office tonight, so I won't be home for dinner. No need to wait for me."
Enola lowered his gaze, looking at the message he had just received on his phone. His long, thick lashes quivered slightly, but the corners of his lips lifted in a warm, gentle smile.
Not coming home was actually perfect. His so-called husband was probably off somewhere with that flirt Jay, drinking the night away. He couldn't be bothered to wait up and tend to him afterward.
"Enola, don't be sad! That Jay guy is nothing compared to you. Your husband probably just had a momentary lapse in judgment by being with him! Once he realizes how great you are, he'll come running back!"
System 555 cautiously tried to comfort the gentle beauty, worried the host might feel hurt.
After all, Enola looked so refined yet tender, his pale neck gracefully bent, his lashes fluttering slightly, stirring compassion in others.
Enola's eyes curved in amusement as he set down his phone and took out the thermos flask to fill it with the freshly made fish soup. Speaking softly to the system, he teased, "Thank you for the comforting words. Now, shall we go bring dinner to Jay?"
"It's his birthday today, and he has a sensitive stomach, so drinking will make him uncomfortable."
System 555 was utterly charmed by the gentle beauty of his host, who showed no resentment toward a husband entranced by someone else. Even knowing that his husband was out with Jay, he still went out of his way to bring a warm meal.
"You're so kind, Enola!"
Enola chuckled softly, his smile growing warmer. Ah, this task he had taken to escape from that tyrannical main god seemed to be quite interesting. Originally, this was a mission meant for the "Poor, Unloved" group, but due to some complications, the difficulty level increased, and it became a mission to win over the main character.
In this world, the main character Jay was a cute, clumsy newcomer in the company. He had not only a supportive fiancé in the CEO but also a gentle senior looking after him. Unfortunately, that gentle senior was Enola's husband in this world. Here, men could marry men, as this was an A/B/O world. Enola was an omega and had grown up with Jay, who was an alpha. Their compatibility was high, so marriage was a natural step.
Though their relationship wasn't deeply emotional, they were both committed to making it work. But everything changed after Jay appeared. After marrying Enola, Jay's senior met the clingy, needy younger colleague and gradually fell for him. But because he was already married, he could only remain by Jay's side as a friend, quietly supporting him. It was deeply touching.
If this weren't his husband, Enola would have applauded the drama. But now—tsk. At least his mission here wasn't to win over Jay but to get close to Jay's fiancé, Jackson, the CEO of the Gu Corporation and his husband's boss.
Enola carefully closed the thermos, washed his hands, and checked his reflection in the mirror, smiling in satisfaction. Good, it was still his own face. However, the original body's health had been poor, which dulled his appearance a bit. Now, with his more vibrant complexion and captivating eyes, combined with his signature gentle smile, he was sure no one could resist his charm.
After all, he was once an S-class seducer in the White Moonlight group, and he doubted Jay's fiancé could escape his allure.
"Bang—"
The door closed behind him as Enola left and soon arrived at the Gu Corporation's lobby. Inside, he was stopped by the receptionist. "Hello, sir. Who are you here to see? Do you have an appointment?"
Enola, of course, didn't have one. He smiled slightly. "No appointment. I just came to bring something to my husband. Would it be alright to wait for him here?"
The receptionist was momentarily mesmerized by his smile before hurriedly responding, "Of course, you're welcome to wait on the sofa here."
Enola sent a message to Jay, asking if he could come down as he was waiting downstairs. Just as he finished, it started raining heavily outside. Enola remembered the plot: tonight was the first night of his heat. Despite the suppressant, he'd still feel unwell. He would call Jay, but he wouldn't answer. Desperate, he'd inject another dose of the suppressant, overdose, faint, catch a cold in the rain, and fall into a high fever that damaged his omega glands.
All while his husband was kissing Jay and realizing his forbidden feelings. What a joke.
Just then, the private elevator opened, and a tall man stepped out, immediately spotting the young man seated in the waiting area. The young man was extremely pale, nearly glowing under the light. He had his face turned to the side, highlighting his striking features, high nose, and crimson lips. His hair was loosely tied back, with a few strands framing his face, adding a touch of warmth to his cool demeanor.
Sensing the gaze, he lifted his eyes, looking over with a hint of surprise before smiling softly as a greeting. Jackson paused and gave a slight nod in return, then continued toward the entrance. Just as he reached it, he overheard the young man answer a call.
"Not at the office? Alright, I'll wait for you at home, or I could bring this to your dinner spot?"
"Your stomach always acts up easily, so I made some fish soup and thought to bring it over."
"It's fine; the rain isn't too heavy, and I have an umbrella, so I won't get wet."
Jackson waited at the door for his driver, noting that the young man only held a thermos and didn't seem to have an umbrella. Just as he thought this, the young man stepped outside to wait for his ride, his head bent over his phone, likely ordering a car.
After a while, he sighed and made a call, asking, "Lin, are you free right now?"
"Never mind; stay warm and don't catch a cold." He was clearly unable to find a ride and without a friend to help.
When Jackson's driver arrived, bringing the umbrella over, Jackson instinctively glanced at the young man and realized he was probably a beta, given the lack of any detectable scent.
"Where are you headed?" he asked.
The young man looked up in surprise and named a place, which happened to be on Jackson's way. He nodded. "Then, hop in."
Although hesitant, the young man accepted the offer. Once inside, Enola set the thermos down and looked at the man resting in the backseat. As he had climbed in, Jackson had wordlessly opened the car door for him, though his hand had gotten wet from the rain.
Enola pulled out a handkerchief. "Would you like to wipe your hands?"
His voice was calm and warm, and Jackson glanced at him, accepting the offer without a word. The car remained quiet for the next ten minutes until they arrived. Enola got out first, holding the door open and softly saying, "You can keep the handkerchief. It might come in handy on a rainy day like today."
"Thank you for the ride," he said, smiling softly with a charm that turned the rain into the backdrop of an artful movie scene.
Jackson merely replied, "No need." Whether it was "no need" to thank him or to keep the handkerchief, was unclear.
In his mind, System 555 shouted in delight, "Enola! His favorability just increased to 10!"
Enola's smile deepened.
"Well then, goodbye."
The car door closed with a gentle "bang," leaving Jackson staring at the faintly fragrant handkerchief in his hand.
