Chapter 1 - Prologue: Ordinary Day

Year: 2098

"Kain, a little bit closer"

A portly man screamed from the cover of planks, watching as the truck carrying the equipments slowly crept closer and closer until the giant claws of the puller was over the beaten up brown vehicle.

This was Mr Jules, the old man who had been working here for countless of years driven by the greed of work in this world where those that didn't have Z-gene simply wilted away.

Mr Jules was a stocky man that much was being clear due to his pot-like belly which jiggled at each breath and he had his whole skin covered with hair that one might confuse him to be a werewolf.

"Is this much distance okay Mr Jules?"

Out came the voice of the driver from inside the truck, whose strong hand was hung limply outside the open window. The smell of dust and brick pervaded the construction sight which made the nose of Mr Jules run and so he used the back of his hand to wipe the snot running down off.

"Absolutely perfect kid, now step out"

Mr Jules screamed back at the driver or Kain who pulled on the door handle from the outside and stepped out, facing the glare of the hot sun with his slight yellowish face.

Kain could be described as a strong young man, if anyone looked at him for the first time, for he had a bull like physique with his once soft palm now calloused.

He had chocolate eyes which seemed to flicker all around extremely attentive after that one incident where a brick layer had mistakenly threw some hard plates on his skull. Thank God he wasn't wounded much but still it hurted quite a lot.

Kain, with nimble footsteps approached the fat Jules who towered over him by a feet or two and had a smile of extreme friendliness

"Damn kid, why didn't you join those drivers who work for the beast managing agency? I mean your driving skills are great"

Jules snorted as he looked at the beaten up truck, given to them by the higher ups wondering how in the living hell was it still working? Must be because of Kain's magical skills.

"If I did who would be helping you around this block heh? You're getting old time to retire old man"

Kain told him with a cheeky smile and lightly slapped the stomach watching it jiggle like the waves in the sea, a daily dose of entertainment in their mundane life

"That's true, that's true"

Kain and Jules went on some more with their quips before the fat Jules left to supervise some new guy here and Kain left to handle the bricklayers.

An ordinary day in the life of construction workers.

HQ BIS

The opulent interior wretched with the sweat of employees was now filled with chaos, for TEST-SUBJECT: I7 had escaped confinement along with several others.

"Fucking hell.... How the fuck did you bastards even loose sight? Were you busy fapping to your fucking mother's cunt"

A burly looking old man with scars running down his nape screamed at the group of scientists in their white coats, which had the insignia of two swords closing in each other, the group was looking at the ground in shame.

"We're sorry sorry, but the electricity had turned off right at the very moment"

One of the younger woman with beautiful violet eyes tried to speak in their defence even when her boyfriend had tried to stop her by punching her elbow.

"Oh are you trying to ensure this is my fucking fault? Huh! You fucking whore do you even know who you are talking to?!!

Fuck! Instead of admitting your mistakes, you are trying to push the blame on me you slut!?"

The old man had a nice tongue and a vocabulary which was enough to break the ego of any men or women.

"Sergeant James, really needs to take a chill don't ya think?"

Margaret the head of defence asked with a smirk, as she just laughed in her angelic tone at the mockery being made.

She flipped her purple hair back, as she turned her amused gaze to her spouse Salamander who was feeding his pet dragon that had taken the size of a baby snake, as he slithered around the smooth column of the husband's throat.

"Hmm, but why should he? He is the best at his job and it's typical for someone to be angry when someone doubts your skill"

Salamander told her as he continued to sip on his coffee with extra sugar, his tone impressively cold. His presence almost made those close to him feel like he was perfect to be a teacher, instead of head hunter.

"Pfft, nerd opinion"

Margaret snorted as she sipped on the hot tea, all while she felt the purple headed eagle she was bonded with transmit information about every different thing happening in the world around them.

Salamander chose not to comment, well probably because he knew that she was right. Though he wondered how could that test subject possibly escape.

There was tight security around the place, but he didn't worry much instead he focuses much more on his drink because without his caffeine he was quite literally the walking dead.
